Great site

We love this site. It is ideal as a stop off site on a long journey, as very close to the A1, and is also lovely for a weekend away, very peaceful. The wardens are really helpful and we look forward to returning on our next holiday.

Peaceful but basic & overpriced

This is a gem of a site with regards to being able to just leave your caravan and walk into the forest or cycle into it as there are purpose built tracks for a BMX. However, I think this the title is a bit misleading - I can't believe a CLUB SITE doesn't have a TOILET of any kind. We used a shower in the caravan but not many like to. My Dad never uses the caravan toilet so he stayed at home and frankly I think it's very expensive for what it is. It worked out at £19.50 per night for 2 adults and 1 child I think it should be £12-£14 the max as there are no toilets, showers on site. They have a little shop which stocked emergency items like bread and some souveniers and the shop assistants were very friendly. The road to the site is uphill on entry with many cars coming down and NOT giving way on the narrow road - there are passing places but they don't care. Also people were parking in them and going into the forest rather than paying in the Forest Centre car park. I've stayed at places that had better facilities for less but I think you're paying for the easy access to the forest.

Fantastic as Always

We have just returned from another visit to this fantastic site, the wardens Pete and Sue are great and the reception has to be one of the best stocked I have come across. We took the bikes this time and cycled through the woods on the cycle trail, then took the bridle path to Kings Cliffe. The site was full with  children playing happily, and lots of dogs but no problems on site at all.  Plenty of Red Kites to watch overhead and swooping down low over the site. We can't wait to return in August.

Peace and Quiet

The wardens are excellent and did all they could to make our stay a pure enjoyment. Ideal site if you have a dog or like walking. Forest next door!

Fantastic time away

Amazing few days away with family , made even more spectacular by waking to the sound of Red Kites circling above . Very friendly , helpful wardens.

A week in May

First time visit which will not be our last. The site itself is clean and tidy with very welcoming and helpful wardens. TV reception turned out to be poor, even with a satellite dish, but apparently only on pitch number 6. The forest walks next door are perfect for both dogs and their human assistants. A little disappointed with the lack of dog friendly places to visit, especially coffee and cake establishments, however the forest café just outside the gates does cater for we dog owners. The site shop has useful items for sale and, for the bigger shop, supermarkets are only 6 miles away in Stamford.

Lovely site. We'll be back!

Stayed here recently for 5 nights. Quiet, clean, well kept site. Pitches spacious. Choice of hardstanding or grass. Plenty of waymarked trails in woods direct from the site. Great for walking dogs and cycling. Shop on site was useful for basics and sold delicious ice cream. Wardens helpful and friendly. Within easy drive of the historic town of Stamford. Overall, a lovely site and a very enjoyable holiday.

Perfect weekend at a perfect site!

Well, what can I say other than fantastic. As a family with children we were concerned with the lack of facilities (play area on site). We needn't have been. From arriving at the site to a lovely reception to leaving everything was just..... perfect! The children loved the woods and the walks especially the tree house! We all can't wait to return, thank you caravan club, a truly wonderful site

First Class as Always

As always Top Lodge, now known as Stamford Caravan Park is a first class site. The only isues I could possibly find are that pitches could be a little flatter and the site desperately requires TV communication points on the power posts. TV reception at this site is very poor. All said and done however everything else is fantastic. Clean, professionally run and great walks around the area. Enjoy!!!

Love this site.

This was our second visit to this site, over the Week up to and over Easter. This is a great basic site in a great location. The woods are ideal for walking the dog, and a nice chippy van friday night. Wardens were very friendly and helpfull, found room for us to extend our stay over the Easter weekend which was greatly appreciated, thanks guys.
