Stayed here on way East as it had good reviews, glad i did as it is a lovely little site. Beautiful surroundings, even in the rain. Warden really helpful. Would recomend this site if you dont mind not having a shower block to be walked to in the morning....it does however mean having to do the dishes in the van. haha.
Would stay again.
A jewel in the Clubs' network
Lovely site, our third visit and will definitely return. The wardens are absolutely brilliant, friendly, helpful and not regimented, unlike wardens on a site a few miles South! Site is immaculately kept. Well stocked shop and information point on site. Cycle hire adjacent and all walking and cycle routes well signed. As there's no toilet block, you don't get children cycling around them! Recommended site.
Great site
Great site with access to Fineshade Forest, lots of walks, tidy and clean, and easy access. Nothing to dislike at all.

Relaxation
This is our second visit and as before it was everything you read about from others. The site is out of the way yet close to Fineshade woods so you have plenty of well signed walking and cycling. Although the site was full on our visit it still remained peaceful and relaxing. The site is well kept and run by the wardens. On Friday night a fish & chip van visits and is well worth a try... If you want a quiet time with plenty of nature this is the site
Tranquil, natural site
We have stayed at this site many times and have never had a bad stay. The pitches are well spaced and there is a good split between hard standings and grass pitches. There is direct access into Fineshades Wood and this makes it particularly attractive to anyone with a love of nature and wildlife. There are Red Kites flying over the site regularly and these are lovely to watch, whether a bird spotter or not. The site is practically always peaceful and quiet even when busy. There are no facilities on site but this is clear in the Club book and on the website. The site is well managed and well kept and is a haven of tranquility. If seeking peace, quiet and natural surroundings you cannot go wrong staying here. Stamford is twenty minutes away and has all the shops you need when on holiday and there are some lovely places to visit nearby, namely Burghley House, Kirby Hall and a little further away Rutland Water.

Met up with friends our 1st visit
this site was great, friendly wardens, great dog walking area. local pub a couple of miles away serving good food good beer and good humour. will recommend for our kids to bring the grandkids.
Great site
We love this site. It is ideal as a stop off site on a long journey, as very close to the A1, and is also lovely for a weekend away, very peaceful. The wardens are really helpful and we look forward to returning on our next holiday.
Peaceful but basic & overpriced
This is a gem of a site with regards to being able to just leave your caravan and walk into the forest or cycle into it as there are purpose built tracks for a BMX.
However, I think this the title is a bit misleading - I can't believe a CLUB SITE doesn't have a TOILET of any kind.
We used a shower in the caravan but not many like to.
My Dad never uses the caravan toilet so he stayed at home and frankly I think it's very expensive for what it is.
It worked out at £19.50 per night for 2 adults and 1 child
I think it should be £12-£14 the max as there are no toilets, showers on site. They have a little shop which stocked emergency items like bread and some souveniers and the shop assistants were very friendly.
The road to the site is uphill on entry with many cars coming down and NOT giving way on the narrow road - there are passing places but they don't care. Also people were parking in them and going into the forest rather than paying in the Forest Centre car park.
I've stayed at places that had better facilities for less but I think you're paying for the easy access to the forest.
Fantastic as Always
We have just returned from another visit to this fantastic site, the wardens Pete and Sue are great and the reception has to be one of the best stocked I have come across. We took the bikes this time and cycled through the woods on the cycle trail, then took the bridle path to Kings Cliffe. The site was full with children playing happily, and lots of dogs but no problems on site at all. Plenty of Red Kites to watch overhead and swooping down low over the site. We can't wait to return in August.
