Disappointing beach

Site was very we'll situated for stroll into southport but was disappointed in the beach. Having to drive into formby to walk the dog near any sea, Sefton council also need a head shake for chargeing for parking everywhere. Overall good site

Geoff's review

Stayed at Southport for a week and really enjoyed our stay. Location just outside town centre is excellent with an easy walk through the park to the shops and Prom. Whilst there we visited Liverpool which is a cheap return by train (£5 each for a day ticket). Site is very clean and toilet facilities are excellent, with bins emptied daily. For families there isn't much on site for children but there are excellent play areas within a short walk in the park.

Spotless site

Having done some CL-site camping for a few days, landing here was like being in 4* hotel with strict guidelines! However, the pristine conditions (showers, toilets, etc) meant that we could return into a more civilised environment before heading for the wild again. Having said that - and whilst it suits the British psyche - a bit more randomness with the layout and less regimented approach would make this site perfect. Whilst it's obvious that CC has optimised its revenue by ensuring maximum occupancy, it doesn't obviate that little extra touch - like a few trees and shrubs here and there. Camping may be a pied-à-terre for some who just wish to view other campers' activities, but it must entail a degree of privacy. CC, please don't emulate UK planners/builders who indulge in saturation accommodation. And these days there's no need to charge customers for wifi: get over it, CC - just bear the cost and slip into 2016! Site staff were first class: splendid training has obviously been an excellent investment. They certainly know how to deal with awkward situations, the details of which I shall not go into! The location is just perfect, being within walking distance of the beach, town, kids' fairground, and an excellent pub for food. But the grass certainly won't grow under your feet... or anywhere: it's cut at all available times - early Sunday mornings included! We liked it very much, and certainly would return for a day or two (cost being a main consideration) should we venture in that neck of the (very small) woods.

Nice Site

Spotlessly clean brilliant facilities, site was a bit regimental for us. We were pleasantly surprised with Southport, beautiful gardens and promenade, and all the shops you could want for. Didn't realise how far out the tide went. Our dog was hoping for a swim but when you got to the beach it was very soft sand/mud and the sea was miles away, so no good for children hoping for a paddle. We started to walk to Formby point but the path was very boring with hedges blocking any view to the sea. Lovely clean site but we would probably not return.

One of the very best

Have just returned from 10 night stay. Site is very well looked after with facilities spotlessly clean. The wardens were always very helpful and always up for a laugh and joke. Will definitely return here

Nice site

We have just returned from a couple of days here, very nice site, clean and most of the staff as friendly, I say most apart from one person, who I understand is the Asst. Warden (glasses and tash) if it's not then apologies to the Asst. Warden. We was walking through the site to go to the park with out dogs, got to a junction deciding which way to go and this person said no fowling on the site, you can't walk your dogs on the site you have to go to the road at the top, well first of all our dogs wasn't fowling we just didn't know where to go hence the pause in our walk, how he expects us to get the dogs to the road without walking I have no idea, his manner was that of a teacher telling off naughty kids, the same guy had a go at another CC Member, all he did was let his dogs out of the car to go in to the van and he got pulled up for them not being on a lead, and across from us he had a go at the people for using too many electric items. He needs to realise he is there to make sure members have a good time, not to chastise them. Apart from that I can't fault the site and we will be going again, hopefully by the next time we go he will have moved sites.

Southport cc site

Lovely well kept site. Long narrow end of site very nice, just a pity there's nowhere to park up or turn round to assess empty spaces, but that's the geography of the site. Toilets and showers immaculate (except when thoughtless people insist on leaving talcum powder all over the floor). Water in showers not very hot late in the evening when not many people using them. Next to the park and close to the beach, but this beach is muddy and the sea goes out a long way so not what we'd call a bucket and spade beach for young families. A trip to Crosby to see the Anthony Gormley 'Another Place' a must!  Oh and this is another site where people turn up unrealisticly early and expect to get in and respect to the wardens that they are not allowed in until 12 o'clock. Something must be done by The Club to stop people flaunting the rules to satisfy their own agenda!

Southport caravan club site

First time here, but certainly not the last. Toilet block, showers, laundry etc all immaculately clean.,  Staff  were very pleasant and extremely helpful. Special mention for Pauline who guided us through the re booking procedure when the Internet failed us at Penhrose. Beautifully kept site.

Five Stars

This was our first time to Southport and we will be back. The site is wonderful, so are the wardens. We walked everywhere as shops, beach, park are all within easy walking distance.

as good as ever

We stayed here for 3 nights for a long weekend and the site was fully booked, it was a very fast check in at this lovely site with great wardens who always have a smile on. their faces, the site is kept spotless by them. its a good walk into southport from the site and a good tip is to walk throgh the local park to cut the corner off and pass through Morrisons car park. There is plenty to do in southport with nice walks up the high street, if it raines you can walk under the victorian verandahs, and we can also recommend weatherspoons for a good meal, especially for the fish and chips on a Friday enjoy... if your coming back late at night, then take a torch as the road to the site is unlit.
