Noise

Firstly let me say that this is a very nice site, very convienient to walk into town, spotless facilities, wild rabbits outside your door. Cycle route nearby and access to rotton row. However our trip was spoiled on Saturday night with a large marquee on Victoria park about 30 yards away playing live music very loud till gone midnight followed by disco music till gone 01.30. We tried turning the tv up full but still could hear it. So bad we rang the police twice( useless )Spoke to the site in the morning and was told this had never happened before. Apparently it was the end of year do for a bunch of inconsiderate solicitor firms! ( probably why the cops didn't do anything) Didn't help us but were told they were looking into it and it shouldn't happen again.

Excellent

We have just returned from one of our many trips to this brilliant site. The weather was dreadful but it didn't stop us having yet another great time there. The staff are wonderful, the site is tidy clean and well kept. One day the weather was bad no one was going out but the staff were there working as hard as ever getting soaked and keeping the place to its usual high standard. Without these hardworking people we wouldn't be able to enjoy all these sites you have so a special thank-you to the crew at Southport for all the hard work you do on behalf of us very happy campers. We have yet to meet a nicer staff than you have at any of the sites we stay at.

Rarther over zealous warden

We found the site to be very good in all aspects, but we found one of the wardens a little condescending and patronizing. We were not the only people to have this opinion, we found on taking to others on the site that his attitude lift a lot to desired.

A holiday by the sea side

This is our 4th visit to this site which is always clean with very happy staff. It is so convenient for the town (liked by my wife) and the countryside. Lord Street is always a great draw.

Almost perfect!

I thought Southport CC site to be among the best I have visited and I much enjoyed my stay here. So much so that, although I had planned to move on after four nights, I ended up staying the full duration of my week’s break in this place. The site feels enormous, although I am sure there are some bigger sites. The distance from the northern end of the site to the southern end is a good half mile. The southern half of the site is much the better place to be in my view. This is new, having been constructed a couple of years ago. It is well done with big well-made pitches and a real feeling of space – especially at the very southern most end where I pitched. The disadvantages of this are that it is farthest from the town and adjacent to a fairly busy road but the advantages of a sense of space and a lovely open aspect made it no contest for me. The road is on a higher level and I found the noise from it insignificant. The older, northern half is made up mainly of one very long narrow section. For me this felt enclosed. The advantage of this section, however, is that it is a good five minutes closer to the town centre. I only visited one loo block, the newly built one, and this was immaculate. The older one, however, has also clearly been refurbished (even possibly rebuilt for all I know) and looks very pretty with its newly rendered white walls. I got off on the wrong foot with a warden (to whom I subsequently apologised) by complaining about people in the booking-in queue not moving their outfits forward. I do find this VERY annoying and means longer than necessary queuing on the road outside the site. I digress; the wardens I met were very helpful and pleasant and the site is kept magnificently. I could find no fault. I liked Southport, a place new to me. The Promenade and Lord Street are delightful and, whilst there are a few concessions to the commercial traditions of the typical seaside town, the resort is, on the whole, a good deal more distinguished than its near neighbour Blackpool. The only pity is there’s no sea. The large marine lake gives the impression of sea, but the actual sea is literally miles away which is a bit of a serious drawback for a seaside town if you ask me. Morrison's is 10 to 15 minutes walk depending on which end of the site you are on and the town centre 20 to 25 minutes. There are lots of buses to places around and trains too. The bus to Liverpool can be caught from Weld Road near its junction with Lulworth Road. The X2 Stagecoach bus is the quickest. Trains to Liverpool can be caught from Birkdale - the marginally nearest station to the site. For Manchester, trains run from Southport station. As well as the main entrance there are three exits from the site to surrounding roads, two of which facilitate a public right of way. The huge length of the site make these exits invaluable, but it is a great shame there is no similar egress at the southern end of the site; such a provision would make this site almost perfect!

Ticks ALL the boxes!

First stay here with wife and three young boys. Great for families - there is a park / playground, minature railway and radio controlled car track right next to the site, hence there being no need to have a children's play area on the site. About a 15 minute walk to the pleasure beach and attractions. Didn't go out in the car whilst we were there - no need to. Also, right opposite the site, is a wildlife reserve on the sand dunes - great for letting the children explore. Site itself - was busy - we got there around 12:30pm and were 8th in line to go in, but it kept moving well. Showers and toilet blocks immaculate - supplied with two toilet keys and one for the toddler bathroom which was great. Helpful and friendly staff. Will definitely be visiting again. Such a tidy and well located site. A real credit to all the wardens (6 of them!) working there.
