Wouldn't go to this site again

Visited during the 6 weeks school holidays. expected lots of noisy children, which there were, not a problem. The site was clean but no facilities for children, had to go to the park nearby. Head warden approached my two grand children (5 & 8 yrs) and not me! advising them that they were not allowed to use a football (small 5 inch diameter ball) which they were playing with near to our van. As a result of the conversation I had with him I have cancelled my membership with the club. So basically, this site is not for me, I have never had a problem on any other site, but due to the response I got will not be using CC again.

Great location

We were at this site for 14 nights the site is well run however the wardens are needing to learn some customer service their attitude towards the paying customer is shocking. We are well aware that there has to be rules but they seem to make them up if they are not pleased with something. We heard one of the wardens giving a small boy a telling off for playing with a small water gun if that had been one of my gran children he would have got as good as he gave from us. The wardens work very hard in my opinion they are not the team for that site we have never came across such bad manners from wardens at any site ever would like to go back but they did manage to put a damper on our 2 week holiday.

Good site with friendly wardens

We haven't been to this site since it was expanded as we much prefer the Wirral Country Park site. The facilities for adults are up to the usual standard and can't be faulted however the site desperately needs a kids area. I realise that a public park is next to the site but this is not the answer. Southport is a family orientated place and therefore the site attracts families with children. The trouble is these children are riding bikes and scooters all over the place totally unsupervised.

Never again!

Firstly, let me say that this is a lovely site, in a great location for the many attractions of Southport. The site has great facilities, there is plenty of space, and the toilet blocks are spotless. However, the site employs a very strict late arrival policy, which makes travel to this site from any distance almost impossible. As a working family with two young children, we like to maximise our holidays by travelling the evening that we finish work; and despite my best efforts, arrived at this site 15 minutes past the latest check-in time of 8pm, due to congestion on the motorways. The site staff firmly asked me to leave the site, and offered no real alternative - leaving me with no option other than to depart and try and find another site with space on a busy bank holiday Friday night. I of course understand there may be a need to limit late check-ins, but I object to this being enforced so strongly when all the staff needed to do was to let me through the barrier to sort myself out with the pitch I had pre-booked. This would have taken less effort from the staff than the 20 minutes I took arguing with them about this policy - (I understand that although there were late arrival spots at the site, they have been removed). I am certainly returning to Southport, but never again to this club site.

great spot for all ages

As everyone has already said, great position, 15 mins walk to Southport, found a lovely inexpensive french restaurant 'Auberge'in town. If you walk in the opposite direction to town, just 15 mins walk will take you to Birkdale, lovely village with fresh fish shop, excellent wine shop with tastings, and 2 very good restaurants, we are going back to try them next week, and a beer emporium. on your walk to Birkdale there is a lovely Gasto pub 'fisherman's Rest' just 290 meters away from site. The closest rail station is at Birkdale 15 mins walk, and trains run every 15 mins, (30 mins Sundays) i do hope this helps your holiday run smoothly.

3rd visit this year and the site is great

Great site, so handy for town, amusements etc and clean and friendly. Couple of families we spoke to were disappointed how their children had been spoken to given its a family site which is a shame. They were all young ones told off for looking at the rabbits and gathering by some trees enjoying some freedom and chance to chat. It seems the wardens responded to unfounded complaints rather than assessing what they were doing. Overall though a great if a little overpriced.

Just the perfect site

We visited the site for just one night. I had rung several times in the week to see if any pitches were available but sadly none were. However the lady on reception did advise me to ring every day just incase there was a cancellation. On my second daily call I was told there was a pitch free so off we went. The SAT nav does not take you down the last section of the trip but its well signposted. As with all the Caravan club sites we have visited the layout is basically the same . We found the toilets absolute spotless. Spacious plots . Friendly helpful staff. The location is only 10 mins walk to the stat of the town and the site has a shortcut footpath through the nearby park .Just a perfect place we will be back again soon!

Good location

We spent a week at this site, plenty to do all within walking distance, lovely old Victorian seaside town to walk around, plenty of shops and places to eat and drink, lovely park and promenade to leisurely strol through! We found some really good cycle routes, so taking your bikes is a must! We caught the train into Liverpool for the day and if you travel after 9.00am it's only £5.00 return!! Only downside for us was the weather was not particularly nice, it was extremely windy, this did cause us problems as the site is very open and exposed so beware, we ended up having to take our awning down. Spotlessly clean facilities, on the whole a very good CC site. We would return.

Great place for the seaside

Just taken our 7 year old granddaughter to this site. She had loads of things to do within a close distance - Windmill farm, Farmer Ted's, Ainsdale beach, Southport Funfare, Splashworld, Turbury Woods birds etc. It would be nice to know in advance when Victoria Park (the main walking route to the town and supermarket), is closed for the annual Flower Show. We found the wardens very friendly and helpful, and they kept the site very clean and tidy - full marks and a big "thank you".
