Excellent Site

Just got back from a 3 night stay at this site, Wardens so helpful and the toilets got to be the cleanest toilets ever. Great stay , well kept site and so easy access to the town centre just a 10minute walk to the shops. Will definitely book again.

Excellent stay

As new to caravaning my family and I (2 adults, 3 children). Booked for a 2 night winter weekend stay. Upon arrival the staff in reception couldn't of been more friendly and welcoming, this continued throughout our stay. Shower/toilet facilities are immaculately clean and lovely and warm with good hot powerful showers. Close enough to walk into town, but a lovely peaceful location with nice walks through the sand dunes across the road. Will definitely be booking further breaks at this site

Wet windy and fantastic

Due to Covid we stayed here coming from the Wirral (all therefore within tier 3). Well done to the Caravan and Motorhome Club for keeping the site open for those within the tier. Helpful friendly wardens who kept the site well maintained despite gales and very heavy rain. A number of pitches were waterlogged but well cordoned off. Not many on the site - we counted a maximum of 20 units on two nights. Lovely walks - coastal path well recommended. Also hugely recommended is The Fisherman’s Rest just round the corner from the site. Victoria Park fabulous for dog walkers Would just say wellies essential when it rains heavily. Great to see wardens offering free Halloween packs. Will come again hopefully sooner rather than later. Thank you again to the Club!

Disappointing and abrupt

For our first time on Caravan Club Site a very disheartened and disappointing outing!! We arrived on site to be met by the warden walking down the road and kept turning around looking only to a point where he stopped turned around and just stared at us, obviously we should of read his mind to follow him and pull up to him so he could then be sarcastic, " you certainly like to make a entrance" is what he said, as I was stunned at what he said i let it go with no comment, he instructed us where to head and not to move any cones as the site is part flooded, we picked our spot and the set up, my partner headed down to give the pitch number and pay again met with Mr Miserable told to stand there and wait to be dealt with, For me its all about 1st impressions, he certainly made one, miserable, abrupt and down right rude, I could keep writing allday long with a list as long as my arm but instead I give the site a wide berth, maybe he was just miffed as the site toilets where blocked and the site was flooded on random pitches, A disgruntled caravaner

very pleasant stay

The site was easy to find being situated close to the town. The reception was friendly and informative. All the Covid restrictions seem to be being observed. As ever on club sites all the facilities were very clean and the site tidy. It is well laid out, quiet and peaceful at all times despite being almost full. just outside the park is Victoria Park, a lovely place to have a pleasant walk or to just sit in the sun. the promenade is just a couple of hundred yards away giving an interesting if bracing walk or cycle ride into Southport. whist we were there the sea was so far out we couldn't see it during daylight hours. The Southport site is ideal for visiting the town and provides a very nice base for those wishing to use the facilities in the town or the nearby golf courses. lthere are several walks and cycle routes in the area. For those wanting a more sedentary stay, it is also ideal for that. Much recommended. Many thanks to the staff for their diligence at this trying time.

Unfriendly Warden Makes a Difference to Stay

Booked Southport for 3 nights from Friday 25 Sept, unfortunately my husbands work plans changed and he had to work on the Monday 28th therefore on arrival discussed with the very pleasant warden who was checking us in. We asked if we wanted to stay until approx 3-4 pm Sunday would we need to pay for the full night. He stated no not to worry just come to the office Sunday and tell us what time you’re leaving. Therefore Sunday we packed our rucksack for a lovely dog walk, went to the office and the warden working (different to Friday) was VERY abrupt to the point of rude and condescending saying they had lots of people leaving and arriving therefore would not be able to keep up to date with people leaving late and all wristbands and keys needed to be cleaned due to covid! Fully understand necessity of cleaning however I don’t need to be patronised!! He also Stated that the warden on Friday had no authority to say we could stay. Surely they are a team and should working as such, we had no objection to paying for the extra night as we understand the rules but we’re told it was not necessary. I must reiterate that the wardens checking us in were very friendly and approachable. However this particular warden has left me feeling upset and disappointed!

Pleasant Autumn Early Break

Very recently my wife and I enjoyed a very pleasant 8 nights at the Southport site. Fortunately, the weather was fantastic, which added to our enjoyment. This was our first outing since the lockdown and also since my wife suffered a stroke in February this year, so we were a bit apprehensive. The check in procedure was excellent and caused no issues at all. All the members queuing to enter at noon gained entry very quickly indeed. We chose not to use the toilet blocks, and although using our own facilities creates a bit more work with water carrying/emptying and toilet maintenance, it did not deter our stay. Many members chose to carry on using on site facilities as normal, which, of course, was their prerogative. My main issue at Southport is the wifi. It is abysmal and it was unusable on many occasions. The club really needs to upgrade the system without delay. We had a pitch on the new section which is very open with very little privacy at all. It would certainly benefit from the planting of screening shrubs along the Weld Road end and between the rows of pitches too. More serviced pitches would be beneficial too in this new age. We have been coming to the Southport site since the late 1970s and have witnessed the many improvements and changes made to the site over the years and still love the site and Southport itself.

Pleasantly surprised

Southport wasn’t our first choice but it was the only site which had availability for our dates, as well as meeting our other criteria (close enough to home for a short break; proximity to town for shopping and eating out). We knew there would be some decent walks, if only on the beach, but we were pleasantly surprised with the variety and number of walking routes, particularly in the dunes area between the site and Ainsdale. So we will definitely come again and explore further. We enjoyed a decent Sunday pub lunch with friends - at the Park Hotel (Greene King pub) in Birkdale. The Café Bar N’Ista was also pleasant but we didn’t eat there as they weren’t serving food on a Sunday. The welcome by wardens was friendly and efficient. Facilities were spacious and clean. We liked being able to wander to Lord Street for some bits of shopping.

Almost full. Still nice and quiet.

Excellent site in good location for Southports amenities without need for car. Liverpool also easy accessible without car. Nearly full site but still nice and quiet. Toilet blocks clean except one day fecies smeared around outside of bowl by some disgusting member. Also think may be time to consider better security on some gateways to park and roads around.
