Great Base for Liverpool and Southport

Arrival: Met by a very well organised Scotsman who frankly had a very difficult job. (When we left the check-in queue for first daily admissions was around 40 rigs long and back to the traffic island). He gave us a very warm welcome and it was clear that complying with Covid rules was high on the agenda, especially as the site was almost at full capacity. Well explained and we were under the barrier hunting for a pitch within a few minutes. Payment: Once we had the pitch we rang one of 2 numbers to pay over the phone. We were advised payment had gone through and we could collect paperwork which was bundled up with a receipt and our gate fob and WC block keys. Whilst pitched: 95% plus of guests behaved and observed rules, the forgetful other 5% only breached in minor ways. Slight noise around Pitch 25 at the junction, and near to the motorhome points and exit gate which became congested at certain times of day, but not to the point of distraction. Blocks were clean and compliant. Felt very safe. Nearby, much to do cycling, walking, for the kids, nearby Liverpool is a must "Albert Dock and Liverpool 1". Spoilt for dining out on and near Lord Street, and along prom. Nearby Morrisons supermarket - all walking distance. Leaving: Drop the keys in a box and go!! Loved the site and will return, again with bicycles for more of the nearby routes.

Perfect for everyone

We made this our first site to visit as there are lots of cycling and walking routes directly from site. It really is the perfect site for families, couples, lone travellers, those wanting all the attractions or those wanting a quiet break. The staff were some of the jolliest we’ve ever encountered. ‘Another day in paradise’ was regularly heard being sung during the daily ‘bin runs’. We were on pitch 85, a side facing pitch on the strip. We loved it. Nice quiet spot with the sun, and yes there was plenty of that, all day long. For cyclists there are off road routes all the way to Crosby. It probably goes further but a 27 mile round trip was enough for us. In the other direction there’s the RSPB reserve at Marshside. Free entry with a small charge for car parking. There are a number of walking routes from site and the park and ride is just outside the site. Southport itself is ideal for families, although we preferred Birkdale a short walk in the opposite direction for eating out. Follow our travels on Facebook Live, Love, Laugh and Travel.

Lovely site / one bad staff member

This is a lovely very clean site in an excellent location on edge of Southport. Things got bad for us when we were entering the site and met the staff member on the gate a Scottish gentleman he firstly accused us of jumping the que at the gate, this was simply untrue we pulled up at other side of gate in order not to prevent blocking the road and when vans were let in fellow campers were waving us in front of them to go into the site. His attitude and mannerisim from the offset was very off putting he informed us we had a non awning pitch which we had booked it turned out he had mixed our booking up with my parents booking and this was resolved. He directed us where to go and had great pleasure in telling us "YOU WILL NOT BE NEXT TO YOUR PARENTS PITCH". Things like this really get to me a was here with my kids for the weekend competing in a Triathalon after I was setting up i felt I needed to confront the individal as I felt I had done nothing wrong at all. I went back to reception to find that individual had left and spoke with another staff member who was very pleasant and informed me I am not the first nor will be the last to complain of this individuals tone and mannerisim. I felt as though I was being talked to as though I was in the army. We then had a 2nd run in with the same gentleman 2 days later when my kids were playing with a bow and arrow set with suckers on the end of them we were told we aint allowed to do it again felt this was very uncalled for. We were advised to put a complaint in off the other staff member which we have now done but heard nothing as yet as a new member and first stay in club site this has really put us off returning in my opinion they dont want kids there at all. This is a shame and feel we have now wasted money in becoming a member of the club. I run my own business in Gretna Green (Scotland) Fuel station, Workshop repairs and 24hr recovery and confirm I am also scottish, and would never of spoke to customers in this manner. We will await the outcome of the complaint we have now filed

Getting to be a firm favourite

Our fourth visit to the Southport (second during restrictions) This is a site local to us, just seventeen miles away, yet it could be the other side of the country. Ideally located for the beach, attractions and shopping the site is large, but not overpowering. The facilities are immaculately clean and the lengths that the staff go to to keep you safe is reassuring. All in all a great place to stay if you wish to explore Southport and all it has to offer.

Wonderful location and immaculately clean

This site is in an ideal location for visiting all the different attractions of Southport. We stayed at the May Bank Holiday so the site was busy and there were lots of children about. However, it was still peaceful. The wardens who greeted on arrival were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. We couldn't have asked for more. The COVID measures which were in place covered everything from arrival through to the facilities. All the communal areas and facilities were immaculately clean and the procedures in place all seemed to work well. We would definitely recommend the site and may well be back!

great site

just had 2 weeks at Southport what a great site loved every moment and the weather was also not bad but what makes a site and holiday better is to have great wardens they kept the site clean and orderly and nothing was to much trouble for them .ie even finding me an "o" ring for my water system which had gone missing thanks to one and all .

Convenient

Friendly and efficient, no nonsense. Paid over the phone, gave our pitch number, collected the keys and site information and we were ready to walk into town. Southport's Lord Street feels like a bygone era, particularly the Westminster Tea Rooms and the cavernous rooms of anything and everything in the Royal Arcade. A trip down one of the longest piers in the country and you might catch sight of the sea (which famously is a bit reluctant to ever make it to shore)

Great Site within walking distance if town.

Well laid out and clean site with clean facilities. Showers closed due to level of Lockdown (3) at time. Covid restrictions adhered to well with "bands" to indicate how many using toilets at time. Welcomed as drove in and all explained at distance. Pleasant wardens. Most pitches flat enough to not need ramps unless you are really pedantic. Short walk in to town. For a more pleasant walk, go out of back of site (pathway near toilet block on larger area) and walk down "Rotten Row" which is a long maintained flower and shrub "row" named after the one in Hyde Park. https://www.visitsouthport.com/things-to-do/rotten-row-p414551 At the end is Morrisons for supplies. Eateries and pubs are a short walk further, either along the front or in town. Walking along front you will see the pleasureland caravan park and appreciate the CAMC one ! Fishermans Rest pub is close but closed at time due to stage of Covid restrictions. Interesting listening to, I guess, first timers having three attempts to put up awning and eventually giving up. Argument between Husband and Wife was not not worth intervening on LOL. All in all, will return.

We will return to Southport

After a dreadful journey with standing traffic both on the motorway and through the whole of Ormskirk, we arrived to a very cheery and helpful welcome from what we learned are the new wardens on site. We witnessed several incidences of them going the extra happy mile to assist the guests. The site appears to be flat, but we had to use our ramps to slightly level off the motorhome. The site has a great location, right next to a flat gentle stroll into Southport, either through parkland on one side, or a path next to the sand dunes on the other side. We cannot comment on the whole of the site's facilities because showers were still in lockdown, but the toilets and washing up area were very clean. The whole site was very clean and tidy. Our excellent impression was aided by some fabulous, continuous, unseasonal sunshine, and we especially enjoyed the glorious sunsets viewed from the dunes. Generally speaking it was a quiet site, just one lot of guests who thought everyone would enjoy listening to their music as they sat outside in the sunshine (fortunately we were not pitched near them), and ocassional light traffic noise from a nearby road and traffic island. Overall 10/10 for the site and 10/10 for the new wardens - and we will return.
