We have just spent four nights at Southland, so very impressed. The site is beautifully clean and the facilities are first class, the staff could not have been more helpful. There is plenty to see and do on the island and we will definitely return.
We stayed between 18 and 23 April. The site is stunning, really well laid out. The facilities are first class and it is immaculate everywhere. We were fortunate in that there were only around 10-15 vans/motorhomes on site so were spoilt having the place to ourselves. The surrounding area is good for cycling, with old railway tracks to Sandown and Newport. There are local supermarkets and plenty of things to see and do, as well as the local beaches (we preferred Shanklin to Sundown), locally there is a garlic farm and a vineyard worth a visit.
We came to the site to enable are sons to ride in a two day Moto trials event , so bought a caravan and booked the site with little or no expectation. on arrival the site looks impressive and well maintained but that's just the start the whole process and atmosphere is second to none, you are made to feel relaxed and special by the warden from the get go , and nothing is to much trouble so that your stay is as blissful as can be. the club site is immaculate and the facilities are excellent , we enjoyed the whole thing so much we are now looking at booking other sites as a getaway. thank you too all the staff you do a fantastic job.
We stayed here in mid late April for the 5 day break and thoroughly enjoyed the site which is beautifully kept by the wardens to a high standard of cleanliness and finish.
The site is conveniently positioned to visit all areas of the island, is quiet and very attractively landscaped with flowering trees and hedges to cut up the site and give privacy.
The Pointer Inn nearby is award winning and serves superb food, i.e. not just pub grub, at quite reasonabe prices.
Highly recommend this site which must be one of the best club sites in the whole country.
Southlands is a beautiful, well-kept site with a choice of pitches to suit all tastes. Much of the site is grassed, and neat hedges create enclaves for smaller groups of vans. There is also a more open area with hard-standing pitches. At one end of the site, a gateway provides a short-cut to the village of Newchurch which is home to the famous Isle of Wight Garlic Farm. The Sandown to Newport cycle path also runs through the village offering miles of traffic free routes. The Pointer Inn in the village is one of the best on the island and has a fantastic garden area at the back (which in turn, leads into a nature reserve). The menu at the Pointer will satisfy any foody and with the pub's barter system, you might even find yourself rubbing shoulders at the bar with the local who grew the veg.
Just returned from a week spent at this site and what a fantastic week it was. We arrived to a very warm welcome from the staff and given a wide choice of pitches to chose from. The pitches are level, well spaced and, as others have mentioned, the site is segregated by mature hedging making it feel more intimate than the sites size would suggest. The site itself is immaculate in every aspect. There is a fantastic kids play area and a dog exercise area.
We have stayed at many other club sites, which were also very good, but this one really stands out for us - we will certainly return!
Stayed here for seven nights over Easter the site was spotless and well maintained with excellent facilities. The hedges around pitch areas gave you some privacy which was good.
The local inn in the village was excellent the food was brilliant and the service was faultless.
Will visit again in the near future.
