Back to Southlnds again

Thank you to Martin and Janet and all the team who work so hard to make this a premier site. You are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. I agree with the previous member why do people use tarps on grass pitches just use a breathable ground sheet and respect the grass that way its there for others to enjoy. the Isle is a great place just waiting to be enjoyed and explored. So many things to do great for Doggies so just enjoy. looking forward to next years fun keep up the really good work.

Excellent site

What a beautiful site and so well kept by the hard working wardens. We couldn't believe that they responsible for the upkeep of the many hedges composed of Leylandi fir trees. Yes, I agree that some members are extremely selfish when using awnings and leaving the ground completely bare and brown - we even saw rugs/carpets being used! Unbelievable! The pub in the village served some delicious food. About one mile away you have access to the Red Squirrel trail that cyclists, walkers and horse riders can use. You can reach Newport, Cowes, Sandown and Shanklin using this trail. We will definitely be back to this site, hopefully when it is not so wet and windy, but you are sheltered by the hedges.

Muddy Pitches!!

It's our 3rd visit to Southlands - a lovely site in a great location. Facilities are excellent and the wardens work hard to keep them immaculate. My only 'gripe' is the state of the grass pitches!! Previous members with awnings have left them in a awful mess by not lifting the ground sheets resulting in some pitches taken out of use and reseeded. We struggled to find a pitch that wasn't a worn out muddy mess by our van door. It is not the fault of the wardens but the mindless selfishness of some members. We had quite a lot of rain during our stay which did not help. The wardens were "pulling their hair out" with the problem - so if you are guilty of leaving your awning groundsheet down for the full length of your stay - think of work that has to be undertaken to get the pitch back for use again or the poor person that has to step out of their van to mud!!! It has not put us off and we shall be back.

What a find

Stayed for 2weeks starting 19/08/2017. Very quick efficient check in. Pitches are very spacious and our was level. Wardens never seem to stop working and it surely shows in the immaculate conditions of this site, toilets and showers very clean and always ones free to use. Our two sons aged 17 and 10 made loads of new friends over the two weeks, the playground appeared a very good place for them all to meet. We ran out of days to do everything we planned as there is just so much to see and do. I.o.w has something for everyone. We all enjoyed it so much we have decided to return next year, our ten year o!d said it was the best holiday he has ever had!!. Excellent location and a credit to the caravan and motorhome could . Thanks for a superb holiday.

Fantastic stay

We have just spent a wonderful week at Southlands. Lovely wardens who work hard to keep the site looking great. The toilet/shower block was always clean and never very busy. Our son loved the play area and made plenty of friends over the week. The Isle of Wight has so much to do, we wish we could have stayed longer! We will be back!

gem of a site

Really nice site perfectly clean and tidy with all grass and hedges maintained to a very high standard. The wardens are all friendly and helpful which makes the experience so much better. They seem to work tirelessly to keep the whole site in immaculate condition and the toilet/ shower block was very clean and user friendly. There is a lovely friendly pub in the middle of the village and although we never got to eat there the food being served looked and smelled delicious. The island itself is a perfect location to holiday with something for all the family. If I had any negatives it would be the greed of the ferry operators who made the holiday quite expensive however I would recommend booking this through the club as they are obviously able to get a discount on the price. If you are thinking of the island as a holiday destination you will not be disappointed with the quality and location of this site.

Excellent site in perfect location, can't wait to return

First visit to IOW, very impressed by site. Spotless in every area and very well maintained by fabulous staff. Concerned that one central toilet and shower block would get busy but it never was. Very peaceful and quiet site for the first two weeks of summer holiday. Perfect location for Sandown safe sandy beach and all other areas on the island. Black gang Chine, Godshill Model Village and Amazon World Zoo all offer free unlimited seven day return. Alum Bay Needles is very expensive but we used Tesco days out vouchers which can also be used in their food outlets, restaurants and shops which made a potentially unaffordable day out very enjoyable. Lucky to experience Cowes Week during our visit which was brilliant. Will definitely return to what I think is one of the best club sites available in a superb location.

Amazing first trip x

We have recently returned from southland following a weeks stay. Despite arriving earlier than planned the staff couldn't have been more accommodating allowing us to get on site at 0900hrs. All pitches were well defined and we loved that areas were sectioned off with hedges making the site feel compact and comfortable rather than an expanse of caravans All facilities were well maintained and extremely clean. The staff were on hand to answer any queries we had about the surrounding area and were extremely friendly. The site was very family friendly and the playground was well enjoyed by our daughter being extremely well equipped. We will certainly be returning to Southland as it served as an excellent base for our Isle of Wight adventures and was one of the best caravan and motor home club sites we have stayed at We would certainly be recommended this site to friends and look forward to booking for our next trip
