Our favourite site - and there is a lot of competition out there!!!!

Great site - on arrival the kids quiz kept our 9yr old twins busy while we setup. Pitch 108 was amazing - space, secluded but near the facilities.... wonderful. The facilities were immaculate - cleaned between 1030 and 1130 each day (so plan around this!!!) and the site running and wardens were faultless and friendly whilst being efficient. Site was 20min drive from the Ferry and well located centrally east of the island.. Morrisons nearby etc - great location. Summary - Our favourite site we have stayed at - great facilities and worthy of an award!!! Every site should have the 'kids quiz'.... our 2 loved it - and it immediately settled them in have toured the site to answer questions etc... CRACKING !!!!!

Another fabulous site ....

Just returned from a three week holiday and WOW ...., what a lovely site! We have children and dogs, so the facilities were perfect for us and kept immaculately clean by the fantastic wardens, who were professional, friendly and very helpful. The site is situated close to Sandown beach, with loads of dog friendly areas which are far cleaner and quieter than the areas close to the main facilities, and beautifully clear, shallow and safe water for swimming and playing. Slight issues with speeding on site, but that seems to be across the network unfortunately, other than that we cannot fault this site and will most definately be back, the sooner the better ! :o)

Super Site.

This is a fabulous site in an ideal location and nowhere on the island is very far away. We stayed on a grass pitch (Although with the very hot weather there was not much grass) which was in an ideal spot (pitch 22) enclosed by hedges and away from the children's playground and the dreaded dog walk . The whole site is spotless, the toilets and showers are superb. Because of the extended spell of hot dry weather we did have a problem with ants, which of course cannot be helped and the site staff very kindly gave us a supply of ant powder which quickly sorted our problem. The only slight downside for us is the number of dogs the owners seem to let yap and bark continually..... please remember that not everyone is a dog lover. Otherwise an excellent site with brilliant staff.

Excellent site

Had an 8 night stay in late June with the caravan. We liked it so much we returned for a mid week 3 nights in July with the camper van. An excellent ferry deal with Red Funnel booked through the club made a short stay more viable. The site is kept immaculate and is well laid out with ample room. There are dedicated disabled pitches close to the toilet block. The wash rooms and showers are first class and the wardens are very helpful and friendly. The reception stocks a good range of essential items, bread, milk etc as the nearest shop is about a mile away. There is a dog walking area and a children's play area both on the boundary of the site. We stayed on grass pitches on both occasions (although the grass was more like straw due to the weeks of scorching sunshine). The hard standing section of the site is further from the single toilet block and seems a little more barren than the grass section that has long established hedges and trees which are well managed and separate the pitches very effectively. The site being inland from Shanklin and sandown is quite sheltered and convenient for many of the Island's attractions whilst not being far from the beaches. The Island's excellent off road cycle routes are easily accessed close to the site. We shall definitely be staying there again in the future.

Only One Problem...... Pitch 44

In my opinion, having stayed at Southland for more than a fortnight on a total of 5 occasions, it is the best site in the Club network. I thought I knew all about the site, where I wanted to pitch, the direction of the sun and protection from the wind. However, we could only get a 1500 sailing and there were not many free pitches. We decided on no. 44, great, just right until 0530 when a car pulls up behind us, the other side of the dog walk. A first I thought it was someone leaving early but no the woman who has the fields and stable in the adjacent field has arrived to tend to her horses. That's ok, it's her land and her horses need looking after, but she has no consideration for her neighbours who may not wish to be disturbed at this time. Could we be bothered to move, no, we resorted to earplugs for our 18 night stay. Be warned! She has the voice of a chainsaw!

First trip away with young Grandkids

We stayed here the first week of June with our 2 eldest Grandkids aged 3 & 4. The staff were very friendly and helpful, everywhere was well kept/maintained and it was very clean. The views are lovely and there is a play park for little ones and a nice dog walk. The reception sells basic things like teabags, little bags of soap powder etc as well as portable washing airer/line. The site is situated in a lovely location not far from the main attractions. We had a fabulous time and will definitely be going back again. We used the Club's travel service and got a good deal on the ferry too which was straight forward and enjoyed by all. The TV signal was excellent and we signed up for a week's wifi which was just £10 which is a really good deal we think. There is a launderette and a dish washing room and several shower blocks with separate washing area and toilets. There is even a toddlers bathroom which made evening bath times easy and relaxing for all involved!!

Credit to the Wardens.

We have visited this site several times and have always found it a delight. It is always immaculately kept and all the facilities are very clean. The location is ideal and very peaceful, with lots of attractions nearby. As this was our first visit in a motorhome, we were a little apprehensive about roads and parking. However, what a wonderful team of wardens the Club has at this site, as, on asking about parking in Sandown, we were given a comprehensive list of parking details covering the whole Island! This list gave details of car parks, post codes and charges on a town by town basis. What a joy-we have never had this much info from any other Club site in nearly 2 years of motorhoming. I think this team of wardens deserve much credit for their initiative, and, in view of the Club name change to be more inclusive, maybe the Club should make this info available at all sites. Well done Southlands team.
