S much to see. so little time

Site divided up into sections so some nice private sections. Bembridge has everything you need - Fishmonger, butcher, and baker, plus pubs and supermarket. We went to the Crab and Lobster for a lovely seafood platter and The Best Dressed Crab to eat and collect dressed crab for tea later. The Waterfront in Totland is dog friendly inside and out and has great views and fabulous food. So many places to visit, so many we didn’t manage, but the Donkey Sanitary is close by, dog friendly and a must to put some money in their donation boxes. Steephill Cove - you have to pay £5 to park at the Botanical Gardens and walk to but out of season there was only one cafe open - season is May to September. Pointer Inn has some delicious food and dog friendly. Wifi worked all the time. For the biggest Mr Whippy 99 ice cream on the island go to the amusements in Shanklin, was less then £2 too, they were ridiculous but obviously we forced it all down! (It was a rainy day though so maybe they were bored and just giving out huge amounts of ice cream as there was no on around). Vernon Cottage in Shanklin had fabulous salads and the fish pie at the Spyglass Inn in Ventnor had the most fish in a fish pie ever. So much to do so little time, will return. (Donkeys and horses can be seen on site too). We tend to eat our way around the places we stay and try to shop local for food we made in the caravan.

Best Club Site

Back again this year as we were so impressed last year, did not disappoint. Arrived again in brilliant sunshine to a wonderful welcome from the very friendly warden team. (Unfortunately we hit the busy arrival time of midday with so many of us on the same ferry from Portsmouth, didn't upset the wardens but it should have as members do need to make sure that the DRIVER STAYS WITH HIS VEHICLE allowing everyone to move up and not block the road outside the site. Not sure why any driver wants to rush with his other half to arrange their check-in!) The site is immaculate so many will have difficultly in choosing their pitch. The grass pitches have so many pretty glades with fairly high hedges making them very protected from the wind, whereas the hardstanding area is more open and can be very windy but necessary when you have a heavy motorhome with trailer and small car. The toilet blocks are immaculate in fact the whole site is, the wardens are always busy doing something and it shows. There is nothing you can fault. There is so much to do on the Island, one of the reasons for the return. There are two pubs near the site, turn left and down to the Pointer Inn, or turn right, right again and follow road down to main road, right again and on the left just a few yards further on The Fighting Cocks both do Sunday Lunches very reasonably priced, well worth a visit to either on any day. Also Fish and Chips on site Wednesdays and Saturdays. We love the Isle of Wight after just two visits can't wait to come back. Just love how friendly everyone is particularly other drivers on the Island. Can't wait to come back.

Can't fault it

We spent a week here. It is undoubtedly one of the best sites with the club system and extremely well run. We always go out of school holidays so can't comment on how noisy it is during the holidays but clearly it caters for children. The facilities are excellent, clean and there seem to be more showers than normal- perhaps because it can get busy in high summer. The dog walk is good and there is access to public footpaths. We will be back.

Maybe my favourite CC Club Site so far!

Beautiful site, very well maintained, spacious flat pitches. Great staff, great shower block, great dog walk, in fact great everything. I wish it were closer to home, I'd be a regular visitor.

Lovely Campsite

Having just returned from an impromptu stay at Southland, we wanted to state how lovely the site and the wardens were. The pitches were incredibly level and despite it raining whilst on the pitch, the grass remained firm. The toilet blocks were kept incredibly clean and tidy, despite the rain and the number of people onthe site. The site is close to local attractions and two pubs, both can be reached on foot (although a steep-ish hill to climb back from one!).

Our favourite site - and there is a lot of competition out there!!!!

Great site - on arrival the kids quiz kept our 9yr old twins busy while we setup. Pitch 108 was amazing - space, secluded but near the facilities.... wonderful. The facilities were immaculate - cleaned between 1030 and 1130 each day (so plan around this!!!) and the site running and wardens were faultless and friendly whilst being efficient. Site was 20min drive from the Ferry and well located centrally east of the island.. Morrisons nearby etc - great location. Summary - Our favourite site we have stayed at - great facilities and worthy of an award!!! Every site should have the 'kids quiz'.... our 2 loved it - and it immediately settled them in have toured the site to answer questions etc... CRACKING !!!!!

Another fabulous site ....

Just returned from a three week holiday and WOW ...., what a lovely site! We have children and dogs, so the facilities were perfect for us and kept immaculately clean by the fantastic wardens, who were professional, friendly and very helpful. The site is situated close to Sandown beach, with loads of dog friendly areas which are far cleaner and quieter than the areas close to the main facilities, and beautifully clear, shallow and safe water for swimming and playing. Slight issues with speeding on site, but that seems to be across the network unfortunately, other than that we cannot fault this site and will most definately be back, the sooner the better ! :o)

Super Site.

This is a fabulous site in an ideal location and nowhere on the island is very far away. We stayed on a grass pitch (Although with the very hot weather there was not much grass) which was in an ideal spot (pitch 22) enclosed by hedges and away from the children's playground and the dreaded dog walk . The whole site is spotless, the toilets and showers are superb. Because of the extended spell of hot dry weather we did have a problem with ants, which of course cannot be helped and the site staff very kindly gave us a supply of ant powder which quickly sorted our problem. The only slight downside for us is the number of dogs the owners seem to let yap and bark continually..... please remember that not everyone is a dog lover. Otherwise an excellent site with brilliant staff.

Excellent site

Had an 8 night stay in late June with the caravan. We liked it so much we returned for a mid week 3 nights in July with the camper van. An excellent ferry deal with Red Funnel booked through the club made a short stay more viable. The site is kept immaculate and is well laid out with ample room. There are dedicated disabled pitches close to the toilet block. The wash rooms and showers are first class and the wardens are very helpful and friendly. The reception stocks a good range of essential items, bread, milk etc as the nearest shop is about a mile away. There is a dog walking area and a children's play area both on the boundary of the site. We stayed on grass pitches on both occasions (although the grass was more like straw due to the weeks of scorching sunshine). The hard standing section of the site is further from the single toilet block and seems a little more barren than the grass section that has long established hedges and trees which are well managed and separate the pitches very effectively. The site being inland from Shanklin and sandown is quite sheltered and convenient for many of the Island's attractions whilst not being far from the beaches. The Island's excellent off road cycle routes are easily accessed close to the site. We shall definitely be staying there again in the future.
