Visiting Northumberland

Lovely quiet site with spotlessly clean facilities. Good site walks to the River Breamish and short walk to nature reserve with Bird Hide. Only slight negative for families with small children is the absence of a children's playground, but there is plenty of open space. Would happily go again.

Beautiful

This site is beautiful, peaceful, clean and very well maintained. The wardens were extremely helpful, friendly and welcoming. I cannot recommend this site enough. If you are thinking of going to Northumberland book your place at River Breamish.

Excellent site and well placed to tour Northumbria

A beautiful and peaceful site with walks along the River Breamish, which have handy pic-nic spots. Very good facilities superbly maintained. The wardens were particularly friendly and helpful. The site is well placed to tour the many attractions of Northumbria, both inland and coastal. The fish & chips from the visiting van were excellent. We had a most enjoyable stay and definitely on our 'to return to' list!

Nice but a bit isolated

Stayed at this site for a week in our motorhome but with our son who was in a tent which was easily accommodated by the wardens which can be an issue with some CC sites! Usual site facilities and well kept site with a bonus of a refurbed toilet block. There is a well stocked petrol station shop within walking distance but that's it. Thankfully we had a car with us and we needed it. Usually being motorhomers we rely on walking or cycling but that will not work at this site.   If you want a quiet peaceful camping experience then this is it, but you need to put the miles in to get anywhere.

PEACEFUL AT POWBURN

A really nice site, with a great toilet block. The Wardens work really hard here keeping the whole site tidy as it also covers a large area with picnic tables by the river. As the lighting is low key you can see lovely night skies. There is no road noise at all. We will be back again.

Our third time

We really love this site for its peace and quiet and there is so much to see and do in the beautiful Northumberland countryside and coast. This was our third time here and it was up to its usual standard. A great place for anyone who loves walking and wildlife.

Lovely site

We stayed here as a family of 2 adults with 2 young children. The site is very safe for the kids to cycle around, but apart from that there is very little else for them to do, the 'play area' is just a field with a small goal post in it, but to be fair, we spent most of our time out and about visiting the area. The facilities were spotlessly clean and very well maintained and the wardens were always cheery and helpful. River Breamish is excellently placed for visiting sites around Northumberland and only a 15 min drive into Alnwick. There is a petrol station with attached mini supermarket at the end of the street who do fabulous local burgers and sausages for the BBQ. A word of warning for visitors with younger children, there is potential for the kids to come across Adders in the long grass, the wardens were quick to point this out and there were quite a few signs up about it. All in all a very nice well kept, quiet site in a fantastic location.
