Perfect peaceful site

Visited this site 2 years ago and was very impressed so spent a week here in this September. The wardens Richard and Karen were very friendly and helpful. There was a note on the toilet doors asking to be sparing with water as they were experiencing problems but only the laundry was closed. All other amenities were fully open. Were were on a hard standing pitch opposite one which was closed due to having a tanker every day to help with the problem. There was no smell and all the facilities were back on Thursday. I cannot praise the wardens enough for their hard work and professionalism. I would not hesitate in returning. The area is outstanding so we will have to return as there is so much more to see.

wrong time!

A very nice site with good wardens, Richard & Karen. Very peaceful and close to the wonderful Northumberland coast. Beware the roads between the site and the coast....repaired by a 5year old...shook our motorhome up terribly. Sadly we arrived at an unfortunate time. having travelled up from Somerset with 1 overnight stop we crawled into the site late afternoon looking forward to a nice hot shower etc. Oh no. The facility block was closed due to an electrical breakdown in the pumping section. No loos, no showers, no laundry!! 2 emergency loos were left open with a note to use sparingly (? not too sure how you do that!). The wardens Richard and Karen did their best to sort it but to no avail. An electrician was called (from Manchester!) but he was unable to repair and said it may take a couple of weeks to find the necessary parts. In the 5 days we were there we had continual threats that unless we cut back on the use of the 2 loos the whole site would be closed and we would all have to leave. Not nice and no mention of refunds or compensation. The system was pumped out once a day but why not twice a day? Having paid our £86 for 4 nights I cannot say we had good value for money.

Message from The Club:

On the morning of Sunday 11 September, we discovered that the sewage pump from the main toilet block to the main sewers had failed. The chamber was full to brimming with sewage, and there was a danger that this sewage might spill out onto the site. Therefore we closed the toilet block at 11am on that day for one night, and kept two toilets open at the entrance for emergency use.

The sewage was pumped out by tanker the following day and the toilet block was fully re opened, except for the laundry which remained closed in an effort to try and minimise waste. Whilst the pump was not working, the sewage was pumped out daily by a tanker.

On the 22nd September the pump was fixed and the laundry immediately re-opened.

Everybody that we met on site during this 11 day period were very supportive and some volunteered to continue using the facilities on their own units for the duration, which has helped us get through this emergency without any further mishaps. We would like to thank all these members you were fantastic.

A special place

Cannot recommend this site highly enough. If you love the peace and tranquillity of the countryside, you'll love River Breamish. The wardens couldn't be more helpful, the facilities are spotless and the surrounding walks and nature trails are wonderful. You won't be disappointed - we have stayed there three times so far and it is on our list again for next year. Also, if you're a member of the National Trust there are a couple of places to visit very near the site (Cragside and Wallington).

Perfect rural destination

We have only stayed here twice as it is a bit of a trek, how I wish it were nearer. If you want noise, shops etc stay away, if you want a quiet clean site with its own little nature reserve and river, in wonderful scenery close enough to the attractions of the Northumberland coast, the national park, the Scottish border, the list goes on. The nearest village pub has recently shut, but a four mile drive takes you to a very popular venue serving good food and ale. A filling station on the main road has a very well stocked shop, a bit pricey but some nice quality food produce. A fantastic site for dogs, our lab loved swimming in the river and plenty of walking, or scenic drives nearby.

A lovely rural site in beautiful Northumberland

Not quite your regular Caravan Club layout but a very rural setting with both hard standings and grass.  We had not been to Northumberland before and will come back again.  If you want to be near the shops, this is not the place to go to, but if you want amazing driving, sights that will take your breath away and loads of space visit here.   The site was surrounded by lakes and nature reserves, so an evening walk was always a pleasure and a great experience.  Everywhere was clean and tidy, and the wardens were really helpful, friendly and happy to share their knowledge of the area.

One of our favourite sites

This was our third visit over the last few years. Well situated to visit the beautiful countryside and beaches of Northumberland. Great for birdwatching around the lake next door and the other wetlands across the main road. Well stocked supermarket at the nearby petrol station. A well kept friendly site.

Lovely site when the weather obliges.

Lovely site but you do need good weather. Must have one of the best dog walks on the network. The area has some very pleasant scenery and the beaches are superb though a distance away. Try proper fish & chips at Seahouses!
