Fantastic sites with fantastic wardens

Since our first visit in 2010, we try to be regular visitors to this site because it is one of the loveliest on the network, The wardens are as friendly and supportive as anywhere. All in all a perfect experience. Which is why following our first visit this year we hope to stay maybe another three times this year. The site is ideal for both a short break to relax or for a longer holiday. There are lovely quiet - albeit undulating - roads for cycling, whether for "serious" hard work or a more leisurely experience. And numerous offroad trails for walking and running, starting with the immediately adjacent and beautiful nature reserve (take a camera) or slightly further afield (but still starting from the site) along the river and into the hills which can be as strenuous as anyone would want for running. The site is perfectionally positioned on the edge of the national park, but also within quite easy reach of the Northumberland coast by car, or (in my case) by cycling. I can't recommend this site strongly enough.

Out of the way

First impression was such awareness of bird song, lovely walk next door in nature reserve. Good spacious pitches. Good facilities. 15min drive to Alnwick. We enjoyed the gardens and Castle. Nice café 15min walk from site and handy shop.

When the noisiest thing you hear are the birds!

This was our very first Caravan Club site visit - well that's set the bar high! River Breamish is a superb site, with friendly and very helpful Wardens (for us novices!). The site is so quiet and peaceful, just what we needed after a l-o-n-g journey north. The facilities were absolutely spotless. There are good on-lead dog walks, but due to nesting birds and adders in the undergrowth of the adjacent nature reserve, off-lead was not advisable. We loved the dog-park outside the service block and the trough of pick-your-own herbs is a lovely touch. Would highly recommend for an away from it all break and would definitely return here.

Lovely friendly site.

We stayed here for only one night on our way further North. We had a lovely warm welcome by the lady and gent that run the site. They were really nice and great with the kids. The kids got a welcome pack and did a little treasure hunt around the site and got some fantastic prizes. Another reviewer mentioned the loud screeching noise, we did hear it and there was a sign up stating it was from the boilers that are due to be replaced at the end of April 2019. The facilities and site were absolutely immaculate. It really was a lovely place and we will be back again to explore this part of the world in more detail.

Lovely site, but what's that noise?

Lovely site with fabulous facilities. Just home from a 4 night stay. Fabulous part of the country and fabulous site. But, there was a squeaky whistling noise for 80% of the day and night. Nearly drove us crazy. No idea what it is, tried to find out but couldn't, possibly the neighbouring farm or tarmac site. Thankfully we headed home before it became a major annoyance. Lovely site, sadly won't be returning as that noise is awful.

Wonderful Site maintained to the highest standard.

One of our first trips out this season saw us visit this wonderful site again. The wardens are fabulous. The site is well-maintained and the facilities are spotless. The location is great for a peaceful, relaxing break, provided you can tune-out the hundreds of geese that occupy the neighbouring nature reserve through the summer and you do get the odd RAF jet going over at low altitude some days. Dog-walk on the site and in the nature reserve is really good. Huge variety of birds and wildlife exist on site and next door. Going back again several times this season - says it all, really.

Great Stay.. 20th October 2018

We have just had 8 days on this wonderful site, really pleasant walks around the site, lovely antique shops very close by and the surrounding area has fantastic views, The Wardens keep this site clean and always greeting you when they pass on their daily duties, would fully recommend this site. :)

Spotless

Lovely visit at the end of the season. Absolutely spotless facilities, somsensible that as we were 35 mins early we were allowed to find a pitch and then come andmsay where .... often wondered when plenty of empty spaces, this is notmpossiblemon most sites? Plenty of lovely walks in the area, although it’s anshame there’s no local bar/restaurant in the immediate area, having said that it’s well worth a visit

One of the most friendly and helpful warden couples on the network

I've stayed here twice this year - August and last weekend. It has been a favourite site since 2010. It is perfect for running and cycling from. It is on the edge of the National Park and not too far from the coast either. But the purpose of this review is to say how the wardens are one of the most friendly and helpful warden couples on the CAMC network. A good enough reason to visit in itself.

Very friendly

Just spent a couple of days at this spotless, peaceful site. Nicely laid out and great that there’s no barrier and we were actually trusted to go and find a pitch and come back to say where ... even though we were 40 mins early and the lovely warden was dealing with something on site! Well done, so much more sensible than waiting to go to a pitch at exactly the right time, even when there’s lots of empty spaces just waiting to be had. The toilet block is immaculate and there’s some lovely walking in the area.
