A six night stay at River Breamish was the perfect end to lockdown. Having never been to the Northeast before we didn’t really know what to expect, it was also our first stay on a club site, having previously used CL’s and affiliated sites. We arrived fully expecting to use our own facilities on the van, what a surprise to find the site facilities open with a simple ‘band’ system in place to ensure social distancing.
The site is ideally located to explore the region, a short drive to the coast or the hills, over the Boarder into Scotland or the supermarket in Alnwick. It’s also a very good base for walking or cycling from the site, check out the river Breamish valley and the tea room at Ingram.
The site is very clean, well maintained and very quiet,
First visit......and we’ll return
We set off to River Breamish with some trepidation as we didn’t know what to expect as it was their first day of business since lockdown. Pre arrival we had been advised about what to expect and from the moment we arrived until we left there was no problems. The wardens were exceptionally warm, helpful and welcoming. Public health guidelines were clearly set out and easy to follow, hand sanitizers were in abundance at communal areas and fellow visitors socially distanced....lots of hellos, smiles and general passing the time of day.The pitches are large, level and well spaced amidst lots of greenery. In terms of location the site which was an ideal size for us and rural but not isolated, is ideal for exploring the local nature reserve, river and lakes by foot or cycling the quiet country roads. The mobile chip van visit was an added bonus! Should you need supplies or a wee treat, there is a well stocked fuel station shop within walking distance.
Don’t be influenced by the website photos - they do not do the site justice.
This site ticked all the boxes for us for our first trip after lockdown....we will be back. Thanks to the wardens and CAMC.
Perfect setting
just had an 8 night stay. The site is perfect, it’s very clean and tidy. facilities were immaculate and nice and warm for this time of year. The wardens were welcoming, friendly and very easy going. A fish and chip van is on site Tuesday night I wasn’t expecting anything special but we were pleasantly surprised, the fish literally melted in your mouth. There’s a nature walk through the wood On site where there’s a lake, my dogs loved having a little paddle. just enough for my 12 year old cavalier.
I will definitely return to the site and the wardens will be back 2020 too 😊
Close to perfect site with brilliant wardens
Since our first visit in 2010, we've stayed regularly at this site, especially in recent years. There is little new to say. The wardens are brilliant - as friendly and as helpful as you'll find anywhere. And I'm delighted to learn they'll be returning in 2020. It is a peaceful site even when crowded. It is in a fantastic position for both running (which applies also to walking) and road cycling, with great routes directly from the site for both. It isn't far to either Rothbury or Alnwick where it is easy to park a motorhome, and both towns are worth visiting. (Alnwick parkrun is very friendly and worth running - different character from many parkruns.) We'll be back at this site in 2020.
Peaceful weekend.
After investing in a fixed bed caravan in sept had to try it out before the weather got too bad. We had a week here earlier in the year and loved the peace and quiet so decided to come again for a long weekend.
Once again it was lovely and peaceful, great wardens who are friendly, informative and helpful.
Great location to explore the surrounding areas be it beaches, castles or countryside.
Another favourite site to be visited time and time again.
Fabulous site
Fabulous site with a great river side dog walk (ample doggy bag bins). Lovely lake just up the road to walk round. Very friendly wardens. Would definitely return

Snakes - no warning
Absolutely fabulous site and staff. BUT due to a childhood experience my other half has a severe fear of snakes. There are signs in reception warning of adders and regular sightings reported on nature board.
There ought to be a warning in the handbook and online about this, you should not need to arrive before finding out.
Peace and quiet
We've just spent a fabulous week at this lovely site. I don't think we've ever stayed at such a peaceful club site, even though it was full. Immaculately kept by the hard working, friendly wardens. This site is perfectly located for visiting the coastline and other areas of interest. Mobile phone signal was ok (O2 & 3) and tv signal was fine for us without connecting to the site booster. Large on-site dog walk and plenty of walking straight from the site. Perfect for cycling as it's on cycle route 68. There is a small Londis at the petrol station just on the main road, also an antique centre and tea room (tea room not open Monday & Tuesday). There is also a lovely tea room/cafe in nearby Ingram which is very dog friendly. No pub within walking distance. The nearest town for shopping we found was Wooler. We will definitely stay here again. I have uploaded a video drive around of the site on Youtube.

One of our favorites.
We really love this site which is why it's our 3rd visit. Even though the site was full throughout our stay, it didn't feel crowded, very peaceful & quiet. Fantastic walks from site and very well placed to visit the coastline. We found as usual helpful friendly staff & spotless facilities. It may not be the best choice of site for families due to the quiet nature & close proximity of deep water, but fantastic for dogs and those like us who want dark skies & quiet evenings. Geese fly over the site early evenings to the local nature reserve, we really enjoyed hearing and seeing them. Thank you all at this site who made our stay so enjoyable.
