A Beautiful Tranquil Site

First visit to River Breamish, a wonderful tranquil site. Wardens were helpful and accommodating, especially as we wanted to stay until 12.30 on day of departure. Weather wasn't particularly kind during our stay, so didn't do the Nature Trail as ground was extremly boggy. We did take the MH into Alnwick to visit the castle. Well impressed as it cost £3 for the whole day, and we used the large bays assigned to Coaches and MH's. Two other places worth walking to was Ingrams Cafe and the Bosk Bistro in Branton. The Cafe is about an hours walk, mostly alongside the river and a welcome sight for a cup of tea and cake. As there are no pubs in the vicinity, we thought we'd try the Bistro for a drink, and ended up staying for a meal! Its part of a bigger complex, but well laid out, if a tadge expensive. Two words of note, the bus stop if you wish to explore further afield without taking your MH off site is approx 20m away on the other side of Powburn, and the entrance road onto the site has some very large potholes. Due to the rain and having trouble distinguishing a puddle from a pothole, we hit one, and this caused damage to some shelves in the MH. We would come again, maybe when the weather is set fair

Lovely site

Just back from a two week stay. Site was lovely and well kept, facilities were nice and clean, wardens nice and friendly. Site was well located for visiting many locations. Only recommendation would be not to use pitch 19 - a number of people on the lower side of the site insisted on using it as a short cut to the toilet block instead of the correct path, we had people tripping over the awning guide ropes and even bumping into the caravan after we had taken the awning down. Absolutely no fault of the wardens though. Would definitely go again.

Beautiful and Peaceful Location

What a fantastic find. Located just off the Coldstream Road (A697), the site is set on the edge of the Northumberland National Park. The River Breamish runs adjacent to the site with a nature reserve backing on to the site; perfect for anyone interested in ornithology. We had a number of walks around the nature reserve which provides a gentle meander around the lakes within. Easy access to Alnwick and the Northumberland coast or up towards the Scottish Borders. Upon arrival, the staff were extremely welcoming and we were able to select our pitch of those available and confirm after setting up. Due to the remaining COVID restrictions (3-7 May ‘21) the showers were out of bounds; however the toilet blocks were spotlessly clean. As a write, there are site works in progress to provide fully serviced hard standing pitches although there are plenty of service points around the site. We will definitely return. NB. A fish and chip van visits the site on a Monday evening providing a very tasty meal.

Another wonderful stay

We have been coming to this site for many years and hopefully will continue to do so. The site has recently had some extra pitches added but this means more people can enjoy it. The new wardens gave us a lovely welcome and always had a cheerful smile throughout our stay. Facilities were spotless and all COVID measures were adhered to. On arrival the wardens had reserved a plot for us as our motorhome is a long one. We chose another but felt this was a kind gesture. Won’t be long before our next stay , hopefully.

Great Site

Great site; we stayed for one night to test out the new Motorhome and really liked the site, quiet, peaceful, lots of kids on the site but in no way noisy. Great walks both on the site and at the adjacent nature reserve. Facilities clean and well managed; very friendly Warden. Site looks to have had a lot of work done recently and future upgrades could be seen in progress. Close to Northumberland Coast and great for visiting Bamburgh, Holy Island, as well as Alnwick Castle for the Harry Potter fans. The petrol station at the end of the road sells LPG gas for anyone needing to refill their Gaslow bottles. We will certainly use this site again.

What a wonderful site

On arrival on the 12th April, we were greeted by very friendly wardens. The site has had several improvements and is in the process of getting some super pitches. It is well laid out with a very open feeling that you are in the countryside. After setting up our caravan, I discovered that our water pump had stopped working. Unable to solve the problem myself I asked the Wardens for advice, they could not have been more helpful. After trying various methods it was discovered that the pump had seized, so they gave me the details of the nearest caravan dealers. The following day a new pump was purchased, we then enjoyed a great weeks stay. Thanks again to the Wardens.

Perfect break away

Arriving at the site we were greeted by a charming most friendly warden who was extremely helpful. We chose the west end as there were less vans there and the pitch and service point clean and tidy with all covid information necessary to remind you to wash/ sanitise your hands with sanitiser stands near the shower blocks which incidentally were spotless. The best thing about river Breamish was the location as the walks around the area are stunning plus not too far to jump in the car to the coast or bike up the valley. The dog walk around the site was the best I have known and next door is the nature reserve which some may find noisy with geese in abundance, however this nor the odd beep from waster transfer site spoilt our stay and we will definitely return. We are generally CL people but chose this due to the valley location as thought we could encounter wind on the hills in autumn.

Fantastic Site - a hidden gem

Firstly, I cannot believe the two recent negative reviews. I have used this site for years and usually stay on the east part of the site. To say you can hear the council depot several hundred yards away is incredulous - only occasionally when out on the dog walk have I ever heard this. In terms of expecting the CAMC to have sanitisers by the taps is bonkers - just keep sanitiser in your car/motorhome and use it when you touch anything. CAMC have worked so hard to open up their sites safely and should be commended, not criticised. The wardens here are simply the best. Fantastic site, superb location and can't wait for the planned pitch improvements to happen. Thanks CAMC.

No peace and quiet

Lovely site as one would expect with friendly helpful staff. However we were unfortunate having a pitch on the East side of the site. Each weekday, from 7.45 am until about 4pm was the constant repetitive beeping sound of plant reversing at the recycling centre a few hundred yards away. No peace nor quiet until the end of the working day. We will not return.
