Nice dark skies

We enjoyed our two nights at this site and really enjoyed looking up at the myriad of stars overhead. Could have done with being able to turn off the site's lighting to make this even better! Cycling to Wooler was easy but if you follow the 68 all the way bear in mind there are some very muddy bits as the route slopes down to crossing points over rivers so this might not suit everyone. Some of the route is shale covered so fairly bumpy, but the route to Linhope Spout was easy enough. Philanmary

Restful Site

Lovely site. Full when we visited but you wouldn't have guessed it. So peaceful and quiet. No children's play area but that didn't cause a problem when the grandkids paid a visit. Loved the nature reserve next door which was an added bonus. Any last minute essentials can be bought at the Londis shop located at the petrol station just down the road from the site. Not too far to travel for attractions such as Seahouses, Alnwick and Bamburgh Castles. Cragside, a NT property was also an interesting place to visit. Fantastic beach at Bamburgh, lovely clean sand. There isn't anywhere to eat out nearby the site. You have to travel 8 mile to the nearest pub. Such a peaceful and restful site and I would like to return to it again one day.

Worth the visit

Took my grandson to this site first time camping for him and first time to this site really thought it was great. We stayed for two nights wish it had been longer. The toilet/shower block was clean and tidy. Outside was the chalk board that enabled you to put on what animals etc you had seen, also there was a small herb garden that you could help your self to for your cooking I thought that was a great idea well done. The walks from the site were spot on and the nature reserve next to the site was great, the river walk was ideal. Plenty of areas to have a picnic so peaceful and quiet. the wardens do a fantastic job. will be taking my wife to this site I am sure she will love it, great place. my grandson and I visited Amble on the way home, well worth a visit , there is a market on the quay side each sunday

One of the best sites on the network!

We stayed at this site for three nights earlier in the month and wish we had stayed longer. The site is very well maintained and the facilities are spotless - very friendly and helpful wardens too. The walking from the site is excellent with the local Nature Reserve and walks in the Cheviots. There's lots of wildlife in the area and a chalk board by the facilities block so members can note what has been spotted - watch out for the huge hare! This is a lovely site and we reckon it's one of the best on the network - we will definitely return on our next trip to the north.

Thanks to Staff

First time on this site but we will return ASAP.... If a nature lover, probably worth going in different seasons to catch the changing patterns of nature. As mentioned before the staff are great and we must thank Richard imparticulary for sorting out an electrical problem we had with the water heater on our motor home. Fantastic customer care from the team.

Fantastic Site

What a site? What a setting? Tranquil, peaceful, restful, relaxing. We stayed here for four nights one of the best sites we been to. The wardens where excellent with very good customer service. The pitches are separated out into groups and there was plenty of space between those opposite. There is direct access from the site to the nature walk with lakes, pond, river and bird hides. There is a chalk board for members to list their sitings, including an adder at the location, alas we didn't see one or a kingfisher. Not that that detracted from the wonderful wildlife we did see. The facilities block is large and well laid out, very clean and the wardens do an excellent job keeping it spotless. There is a covered dishwashing area as well as a laundry room. There is an onsite shop with basics if needed and just out off the site about half a mile away is a petrol station with a good shop. Overall a fantastic site highly recommended

Quiet & Peaceful

First visit to this site & the overall impression was excellent. We stayed for 11 nights in a caravan on pitch 37 with a large grass area in front of the hard standing pitches. It's a very good site for seeing wild life both on the site & in the surrounding areas. The site was full most of the time during our stay so there were queues for the facilities some mornings. Many of the pitch locations have large grass areas in front & I wondered how they would be used when there were more families staying. We left on the 15 July & weren't aware of any problems during our stay. On the A697 adjacent to the lane leading to the site there is a fuel station with a well stocked mini market. In the same develpment there is a fea market/tea room. We can recommend both facilities. Other than visiting the local nature reserve there's not much you can do on foot from the site but it's conveniently located for visiting many of the area's attractions by car.
