Nicely set out site

Really liked the way this site is set out - see plan. Some club sites are starting to look like car parks! Nice large pitches with plenty of greenery around. The facilities were very good. The dog walk/nature walk which takes you down to the river, was lovely.. it is about 10 miles from Alnwick. It would have been perfect if it had been nearer and we could have walked but you need a car to get about from this site. That said if you are seasoned walkers there are a good few walks from the site. The only problem we had was inconsiderate loud tv and music but only happened a couple of times. There was also a quite loud high pitched noise coming from around the washrooms. We were on pitch 4.

Superbly run site

We have just returned home from a week at this fantastic site. Due to not being able to get away from work as early as had been hoped on our arrival day, we ended up arriving a few hours later than planned and the site office was actually closed for the day when we arrived - however, we were greeted by very friendly and helpful wardens as we pulled up outside the office and they opened the office for us to book in. Nothing was too much trouble and the wardens run the site superbly, well looked after pitches, grass cut regularly and the shower/facilities block was always kept immaculate. They were always very pleasant, helpful and cheery when we met them on site during our stay. The site is well laid out in smaller pitching areas, with up to about 10-15 pitches in each area - separated by trees and shrubs. Adjacent to the site is the River Breamish and nature area and dog walk, again very nicely laid out. The coast is only about 20 minutes drive from the site, and we really liked Alnmouth, Embleton, Beadnell, Amble, Craster and Bamburgh Castle - all great locations if you have a young dog with lots of energy, as we have! Closer to the site is Ingram, which has some stunning scenery adjacent. All in all, a great, well run site with some great beaches and villages a short drive away! We hope to return sometime!

Adders

Lovely quiet and clean site but we were disappointed on arrival to discover that there could be adders on site and surrounding areas as we had no previous warning about this. We were very anxious about this as we had a very young dog with us. It is a pity we had not been advised when we made our booking.

Great for Cheviots & Coast

First stay here, 7 nights from 5th July. Access from either north or south is a doddle but edges of approach road are a little bumpy so you need to take it slow if you meet anything oncoming. Surprised to see a council waste transfer station next to site but apart from the bleep of reversing vehicles during the working day, it was not too intrusive. Our stay coincided with the long dry period of weather and obviously the grass was parched as a result. This is the first site we have been on for a long time that has no entry/exit barriers of any sort and as mentioned previously, those that know this can abuse the arrival time rule and just pitch up. Site was pretty full during our stay but we were lucky to get a nicely located hard standing. All pitches cost the same, grass or hard standing but are a good size and pretty level. We actually liked the slightly random site layout as to the usual regimented rows. The single amenity block was to the usual club standard and never seemed full despite the number on site. The office had the usual essentials and the greeting/information from the (stand in) wardens was first class. Nice dog walking around the site but were warned of Adder sitings although we never saw any. For those with children there are plenty of warning about the dangers of deep water nearby but with the very dry period, this did not pose as much of a risk. There is no childrens play area. Nearest shop is on the main road at the petrol station but there is no pub/eatery within walking distance. Great access into the Cheviot hills, down to Alnwick or over to the coast. The Ship Inn at Low Newton is a hidden (well it used to be!) gem. Will be back as we still have plenty to visit.

Excellent Site

Excellent Site The Breamish Valley site is a well maintained site, with spotless facilities. The pitches are well laid out with the choice of hard standing or grass in small areas surrounded by greenery. There is a lovely woodland walk around some small lakes and a nature walk for children with little bird houses. There is a dog walk on site too. The wardens are very helpful and friendly. The site is a credit to the club. We will be back soon

A really fabulous site.

There's not much more I can add to the longer reviews recently written about this wonderful site. We've visited several times before and we have always enjoyed a superb stay. The site is exceptionally clean and well kept, with lovely little touches from the hard working wardens like this year's tiny "Fairy boxes" fixed to trees at varying points along the woodland dog walk . These delighted my Husband and I , despite being well over 60 ! So I'm certain the little ones will love them. Visit the Breamish Valley just along the road towards Wooler, turning on the left. It is beautiful, and the climb to the top to visit the Hill Forts is very worthwhile. Driving along the road ,following the valley bottom for a short distance is a treat too, though it's a dead end with a farm at the end of the road. Still friendly signs invite you to stroll about and enjoy! App 30 mins from the superb coastline of this area of Northumberland, Craster and the clifftop walk to Dunstanburgh is amazing. Alnwick has everything you'd need re food etc. Supermarkets aplenty. Then, returning to the peaceful River Breamish C & M Club site, you feel totally relaxed and unhurried, enjoying the fruits of your shopping and breathing in the pollution free fresh air. I was quite despondent to have to return home, but we'll be back very soon I hope.Thank you

They even provided great weather this time!

Having visited at Easter in freezing temperatures and sleet I can back with my boy and his friend with the intent to visit Lindisfarne and Alnwick Castle (for Anglo Saxon school work and Harry Potter respectively) The site is brilliant; super clean, friendly and helpful wardens. This time we tried the nature walk, which the boys loved - I'm not so convinced that the little frogs were as enthusiastic about the boys. Can't recommend River Breamish too much. If, like me, you are a midge magnet, remember to take some midge repellent and cream - I got eaten alive on the first night We'll be back for sure

There is also a well stocked shop up at the Garage on the main road about 10 minutes walk away.
