Peaceful and Quiet

Just spent 2 nights at this site. We are regular visitors to this sight as we have relations in Chesterfield. The site is very tranquil and a dogs delight as there are many pretty dog walks. The site is on a flat area and ideal for cycling. There is no entertainment on site  which can be boring for children but if you're looking for a peaceful time this site is ideal.

Short break / 1st visit

Took the new caravan out for its 1st trip and chose Poolsbrook for its close location to home. Friendly wardens excellent clean facilities and if approached from junction 29a on M1 you wouldn't know the industrial estate was nearby. We arrived on a Thursday and left Sunday and wasn't aware of any intrusive traffic noise reference previous reviews. The site is well laid out, big pitches and maturing nicely re trees / bushes etc and with some pleasant walks adjacent including round Poolsbrook Country Park.  The site had a very pleasant vibe and caravan and  motor home neighbours were all friendly so combined with the excellent weather we thoroughly enjoyed and will be returning for sure.

mixed Bag

The site is well run, level and clean, but next to an industrial estate and the nearby town of Staveley is run down and only 1 local pub in the town served food if you did not want to drive. The bus service is fair and some large country houses/ castles are within a reasonable drive. Families have a play area nearby at the nearby lake, and there are tracks for walking also.

Perfect for visiting stately homes

This site was perfect for visiting stately homes such as Hardwick Hall, Chatsworth and Bolsover Castle. We had a friendly greeting upon arrival. The site has easy access from the M1 and surprisingly does not suffer badly with traffic noise. Typical great site facilities and a nice walk around a lake. There are plenty of restaurants a short drive away. Only criticism would be that more hedging between pitches would be nice.

Site very nice but would not return due to its location. Walked into the the town which we found very run down. Shame about this sites location. OK for a overnight stop and that's about it

Great stop off and for dogs

We have a motorhome and quite often on a Friday set off down the treacherous M6 and hit lots of traffic, what a lovely change to head across the M62 and down the M1, barely any traffic! It was a great stop of on our journey down to the South East. The country park is a joy with the dogs. You can walk quite easily along the transpenine way to Staveley where there is a supermarket and some pubs, it is a little run down but the people we met were very friendly and down to earth. We will definitely be back!

brilliant site

We are quite regular visitors but have only ever stayed one night each time, using the site as a transit stopover. This needs to be rectified by us - it is a lovely site with modern facilities and has matured over the last few years so no longer looks rather barren as it did a few years ago. We keep promising ourselves to pay a longer visit and one day we will. It is a great site for running from - lots of choices, all offroad. It is also good if using a mountain bike. I almost always travel with road racing bike and the roads away from the site have always seemed rather busy and not ideal. When we visit for other than a stopover I shall take a mountain bike and explore further afield than I can when running.

Fab Site

Lovely new modern site, with excellent facilities.  Wifi was a bit hit and miss though which was frustrating. Great walk round the lake and surrounding areas.  Trans Pennine trail on your doorstep if you have bikes which is fab. Cafe at renishaw hall was a nice stop for lunch.  No shops and pubs in walking distance, but lots a shirt drive away!!! Nice site, fab facilities.

Well kept site

Lovely setting and surroundings but won't go again unless needed to be in that area. The traffic noise, even without my hearing aids, was a real downer. Not anything the site can do about, but you should be aware.
