Great stop

We stayed here on our way up from the south coast to the Scottish Borders. Super easy to find off the M1 but once you get to the site you would never know its so close. Very welcoming tidy site which was also great for us as plenty of dog walking which we wanted. Would recommend to anyone thinking of stopping over here.

What a lovely site.

We have stayed here a number of times, and had no complaints whatever. The site is in a super location a short drive from the M1, so good for a stop over on the way South, or North but also well worth a longer stay. There is so much to do, Chesterfield, Sheffield, the Peak District. Theatres, cinemas, walks, cycle paths, markets, shops, supermarkets: Morrisons being the closest,  then Sainsburys, then Tesco, there are two caravan spares shops nearby not forgetting stately homes - the list is endless.  The facilities are accessible by key - important to know if you've had a long drive - always clean, well stocked and signed as all club facilities are.  Can't praise it enough. We will return time and again. Thank you Poolsbrook.

Great facilities

We have used Poolsbrook a few times now and cannot fault this site, with it being just 5 mins off the M1, after a day of driving it is good to know that you do not have far to go once you come off the motorway, Facilities on site are super and it is a nice touch having the radio playing in the bathrooms. also with Morrisons not far away it is good to fill up with food and fuel thus not having to pay motor way prices

Great site with dedicated wardens

Returned again to an always clean and tidy site. Only grass pitchs were available as we didn't arrive until after work on Friday but the pitches were all in excellent condition and we were quickly set up. Had a lovely weekend apart from at least 10+ drivers speeding around the site. And I mean speeding, in at least 3rd and 4th gear!!! It was always the same drivers and as we were in a corner pitch we felt like we had to be careful each time we stepped off the grass. Let alone the elderly and kids that cannot get out the way as quick as we could. Absolutely no fault of the site or the wardens, just totally inconsiderate drivers. Maybe some speed humps might be needed?? And nearly as bad was the disgusting human being that let their dog mess only 2 foot from our caravan tow hitch and left it! Why have a dog and not clean up after it. It is not only disrespectful but down right disgusting. Who is expected to pick it up now?? Certainly not me!  I mentioned it to the warden when we left and she said she had had a few other complaints in the same area of the site. I really felt sorry for the poor warden having to deal with these idiots that ruin for others. Apart from these issues, the actual site is fantastic and we will return time and time again.

Caravan Club first timers

Our visit to Poolsbrook in early September was our first to a Caravan Club site and we were not at all disappointed. The site is very clean and tidy as well as peaceful and quiet. The pitches are flat, a generous size and are well spaced out. The toilet and dish wash facilities were also very good and being in the centre of the site were well placed for all pitches. The site itself is about a mile or so walk from the small town of Staveley but its position next to the Poolsbrook Country Park gives it a real countryside feel. The site therefore has the best in both worlds in having easy access to a Supermarket (Morrisons), shops, pubs and a leisure centre, but also having beautiful woodland and lakeside walks and cycle rides on its doorstep. Its also not far from the M1 making it a good stopover site for touring. We will definitely be back in the near future.

We love this site

Poolsbrook has to be the best kept site on the Caravan Club Network. Everywhere you look is just so well kept & spotlessly clean. We only live 2 miles away, and after a busy week can just drive down the road for peace and tranquillity. Thank you wardens for all you do for us caravanners.

Great first visit :-)

We stayed at this wonderful site for 5 nights the last week of August. Despite some negative reviews regarding having to drive through an industrial estate, which you barely see. Lovely lakeside walks and great for cycling, the Trans Pennine Trail just outside the site. We cycled along the towpath to Chesterfield taking in the tranquil setting along the way. Another day we cycled up to the Brother Valley Park, which had some great water sports, but the ride wasn't as enjoyable. A bonus having Morrisons within walking distance. Despite not having a children's play area there is a fantastic adventure playground which caters for both younger children as well as older ones by the visitor center. Oh, there's also a cafe with lovely lakeside views. We will definitely be coming back :-D

Clean & Friendly

The Wardens were very helpful and patient. Local amenities are a 10 minute walk away. I can highly recommend Harley's Pub near Morrisons. Excellent pub food and a 5 * food rating! The site was very clean and the toilet block was immaculate!  It's not very peaceful as there were lots of children on site but to be expected in Summer Holiday season.
