Peaceful enjoyable break

Had a great long weekend on this site. Lovely pitch with excellent dog walks close by. The Toilet block was very well maintained and spotless. We will be back there soon.

Happy families

We have used this site before to visit family nearby. The site is well designed and the facilities are excellent. The wardens are friendly and provide plenty of information. The shop is well stocked and we were grateful for that on a previous visit when our hook-up cable failed. All the service points have plenty of waste and recycling bins and are located throughout the site and kept very clean and tidy. It is a pity that site users don't always recycle appropriately as this will no doubt cost the Club - we witnessed a toaster being put into the recycling bin (the same person also washed their caravan on site despite notices asking that this should not be done). The country park next door has plenty of walks so the dogs also enjoy their stay and the Trans Pennine way crosses here too. It is an easy walk into Staveley where there are shops and further public transport links.

First Visit

Just got back from our first visit to Poolsbrook Country Park. In terms of pricing it seemed good value. Easy bus ride into Staveley where there are onward connections to Chesterfield and Worksop and places further afield. Toilet block very good although I was surprised there was no chemical toilet emptying point at the block. The reason I say this is that as a motorhomer it's handy empty the toilet whilst letting the grey water waste drain away. Shame the motorhome service point still requires heavy drain covers to be removed, any chance we could speed up the conversions to an open drain? There is no Children's play area although there is one in the park next to the site. WiFi was generally OK but better with a signal booster. This site would be a handy stop over for anyone travelling up and down the M1 as its only about two miles from junction 29A

One Nighter

We received a warm welcome by the staff. It is a well laid out site, the toilet block was spotless and with piped music too. My only criticism was the wifi was not the best, the signal was in and out.

Great break

We had a five night break at this wonderful site. Spotless in every way, with fabulous wardens. Can't praise them enough. We very much enjoyed a visit to Chesterfield, which is easy to get to by bus at the entrance to the site if you need it. It takes a roundabout route, but its fine. The Flea Market on Thursday is a very interesting experience. Recommend it. We also visited Hardwick Hall, which was a treat in every way, with very knowledgeable NT staff in attendance as expected. Lots of walking and cycling close to hand if you want it too.

chilled

Excellent site, spacious, clean, and there were very friendly and helpful fellow campers on site. Morrisons supermarket 20 minutes walk away, loads of cycling tracks to burn off the calories, or just have a stroll round the fishing lake. Loved everything about it.

3 night stay

First visit for 3 nights to attend local wedding reception. Site was lovely and the facilities were immaculate !!! Best rest room/shower facilities we have encountered so far. Pitches nicely spread out with enough room. The short walk round the lake is very nice and a large childrens play area is there. We went down the trans pennine trail from the site enterance and walked 10 miles along the chesterfield canal which was beautiful (cafe 5 mile in, turn and return) Will definately return to this lovely site. (only odd thing, someone turned off our water supply on our tap on our fully service pitch, which couldve damaged our water motor, but this was not the fault of the site and can only guess and hope this was some other caravaners mistake trying to fill up water on our service pitch tap??)

Great Site

This is the first time we have stayed here but it certainly won't be the last. This site is amazing. It has everything that you would expect and more. The cleanliness is first rate as is the service and support you receive from the staff. The pitches are big (and level) and the site is really easy to drive round and pitch. The weather was really bad when we were there but the tree screen around the site help immensely. The country park next door provides excellent walks. Would recommend this site to anyone and will certainly visit again. Fully deserves 5 starts.

Great site apart from the off road bikers

Stayed with the family for two nights from 5th May. Our local site and always really clean and well kept. Booking in no problem, friendly staff but there were issues during the night. In the early hours of both Saturday and Sunday there were cars parked near the site with occupants shouting, screaming and playing loud music. During the Saturday afternoon and on Sunday morning there were off road motorbikes blasting around the adjacent footpaths. We love the site but if this is the norm then we may have to try elsewhere. Not the sites fault I know but the disruption did blot the short stay.
