A fantastic site!

A fantastic site with immaculate facilities. The adjacent country park will appeal to families with children and there are many walks nearby. The site is easy to access from the motorway and despite its proximity, road noise is not too intrusive. This was my second visit to this site and it certainly won’t be the last!

A lovely well kept site

This is a lovely well kept site with very friendly and helpful staff. Easy access, not too far off the M1 at J29a. Handy for visiting Chesterfield, Hardwick Hall or even Chatsworth, which is only half an hour away.Have stayed here several times and would have no hesitation recommending to both couples and families alike.Great walk around the lake.

A little disappointed.

Just back from a 6 night stay at Poolsbrook Country Park. Really nice site in many respects; good and spotlessly clean facilities (though a bit of a pain having to use a key to access the shower block). Nice dog walking nearby, though a distinct lack of dog poo bins meant carrying waste several miles on a number of occasions - not the Club's issue, rather Derbyshire County Council (unbelievable that the Trans-Pennine Way doesn't have these facilities, with the result that full bags of waste lie beside the paths). Nice stopover, but rather too far from the heart of the Peak District for us. Great site for a stopover en-route to the North. No play area makes this perhaps not the best site for families.

Superb site, now one of my favourites

Stayed for 2 nights mid October 2017, first time at Poolsbrook but won’t be my last. On arrival I was given a warm welcome at reception and a nice, quick book in. All the pitches are really well maintained, looks like fresh gravel has been laid on them all, and all the grass areas look to be regularly cut. The toilet/shower block is fabulous, spotlessly clean, warm, well equipped with plenty of toilets and showers, hairdryers, laundry room, baby changing room, veg and dishwashing area. Definately the best CC facilities I have used. The site is a relatively small one compared to some of the others, but there are plenty of water/refuse/grey water/elsan points around the site. I didn’t see anything for children, i.e playground, so it may not be ideal for families with young children, but perfect for adults wanting a quiet, peaceful break! The wardens clearly take pride in the site, and its’ appearance, cleanliness and over all atmosphere is a credit to their care and attention. Only met the wardens in passing with a cheery ‘hello’, but thank you, your hard work is greatly appreciated. One of the main reasons I chose this site was to go geocaching and cycling on the Trans Pennine Way, which is accessed immediately by the site enterance, perfect! If you like cycling or walking then you couldn’t ask for more, miles and miles of well maintained paths, trails and canal paths. I can’t wait to go back, Poolsbrook Country Park Site is now Top of my list for CC sites!

Extended Stay

Stayed on this site in August 2017 with the intention of a two nights stay on the way to Yorkshire. In the end we stayed 6 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely site. There are plenty of interesting places within easy reach of here and as lovers of the Peak District it was an easy decision to stay on longer. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful and clearly take a pride in their site which is very neat , very well maintained and has excellent facilities. The approach to the site is a little 'industrial' due to its history but do not be put off by this as you soon enter the country park and the site entrance is visible and easily accessible. Very suitable for dog owners as you only have to walk out of the site to have access to 4 miles of walks around the lake and woodland. If this isn't enough for you then the 370 miles of the Trans Pennine way also accessed from the site should satisfy even the most energetic walkers and cyclists !

First time at Poolsbrook

I thought I'd break up my journey to North Yorkshire with a three night stop over at Poolsbrook. It was very clean, very quiet, and the facilities were superb. The reason I only gave a score of 3 for "Good for families" is that I was on my own, and never gave this aspect any thought at all. I suspect the score should probably be higher. A nice lake at the bottom of the hill, only a few minutes walk from the site. Looks like a lovely place to visit, especially in summer . I will definitely be back!

Convenient Access

Four night stay in our caravan. First time on this site chosen to visit relatives north of Sheffield. Great access out onto the M1. Well laid out, modern, neat and tidy with first class amenities and access to Trans Penine Trail and paths around parkland. We were a little put off by comments about the surrounding area but in the end this did not affect our stay. Would have no hesitation in using this site for future visits to the area.

Lovely 3 night stay

This is lovely site which is very well cared for and a credit to the hard working and friendly wardens there. The site is beautifully set out with immaculate generous level pitches surrounded by attractive trees and well cared for plants. The wash rooms are housed in a fantastic building being very modern, the facilities were kept immaculately clean throughout our stay. There are great walks around the large lake just outside the site and trails that run to the next village if you don't want to use your car or you have a motorhome. The bus service to Chesterfield runs frequently and is a short walk from the site. We took it on ourselves to walk to the Little Castle restaurant and pub for Sunday lunch, it's fair walk but lovely food and very good value particularly the carvery. A peaceful and very well run site, we will return when next in the area.
