Great site but expensive over New Year

We stayed at this site from the 29th Dec '17, leaving on the 4th January '18. On the day we were due to arrive there had been snowfall in the area which meant that the access road, which is on a slight gradient, was impassible due to snow. The wardens rang us to ask us to delay our arrival whilst they attempted to clear the snow. This was fine by us as it meant we weren't as rushed in getting down there. The wardens kept us fully informed and by the time we arrived it had all cleared. The site is very easy to access and is only about ten minutes from the M1. Facilities on site were very well kept and modern. Loved the radio playing in the background in the toilet blocks. Very relaxing. The facilities were also nice and warm despite the cold weather. The pitches were also wide and level, the site itself feeling very spacious. My only gripe would be the cost (as mentioned by another reviewer). I would fully expect to pay a slight premium over New Year but the premium pricing continued past this period and was probably why the site almost emptied once New Year had passed. There was certainly no incentive to stay at the price being charged (£207 for six nights - 2 adults & 2 children). We only stayed on past this date as we have family in the area whom we were visiting.

Lovely Dote

This is a lovely well kept site. The facilities were really clean and the staff are friendly. I love the fact there are disabled bays so close to the facilities. There are good disabled facilities which can be accessed with a radar key. I have been using the site as a base for my Great Britain Wheelchair Basketball training camps in sheffield and the access is really good being a couple of miles from M1. I am looking forward to returning for the summer World Championship preparation training block and making use of the facilities again.

lovely site

Only stayed one night. Very welcoming site, spotlessly clean and everything well maintained. Lovely hot showers - will definitely be back for a longer stay.

Brilliant end to January

We have just returned from a blustery week. The weather wasn't very kind to us but it didn't stop us enjoying the fantastic walks straight from the site. The shower block and site is spotless and is a credit to the very welcoming wardens. You can hear some road noise but it certainly wouldn't put us off returning. Will definitely return.

Great site but ridiculous price.

Stayed there for one night 3rd to 4th January 2018 and was charged £28.30 for two adults on a standard pitch. The club’s website states that midweek discount applies from the 3rd January but it did not. It was wet and windy so we did not see it at its best but felt ripped off by the pricing.

Great country site with easy access from town

Lovely site we have visited on more than one occasion in the past year. Easy access by bus to nearby Chesterfield etc. easy to get to from the main roads and motorway. Facilities kept good and clean, only downside that as it was frosty the taps kept freezing up, no insulation as I have seen at many sites. Great access to the country park with its lake and café which serves excellent coffee ad bacon/sausage sandwiches! Also you can cycle from here off road to the Rother Valley park. All round all year gem of a site.

Great site.

We love this site it's great for visiting our families, so we us this numerous times a year. This time I want to thank the wardens Suz and Morgan for their help when my mother was taken into the local hospital , as we should have been moving to another site, they accommodated us at Poolsbrook and cancelled Chatsworth for us. Friendly and welcoming please give this site a try you won't be disappointed. Easy access to Sheffield, Chesterfield ,Derbyshire and the Peak District.. Great walks from the site, our dog loves Poolsbrook park, lovely round walk but remember your wellies. ,

Clean and Well Maintained

We were very impressed with how well the site was kept, and the comfort and cleanliness of the shower and toilet facilities. We liked the onsite cafe too. However the shop could have been better stocked with basics such as milk and bread.

Grass pitches and winter

My wife and I booked this site to be near to our Grandchildren (Sheffield). The plan was to meet up for the Oct half term. The site is very easy to find and well signed off Jnc 29a of the M1. The country park is smaller than we are used to but has enough to keep a couple of old dog walkers interested. Our two cockerpoos loved the park. There are 3 play areas for children in the park which look fairly new and in good condition. Everyone we met was very friendly. The site in general is a nice site and well maintained. However, because we booked late we were only able to get a grass pitch. This is where it all went wrong. Moving the van on to the pitch with a motor mover was hard work. The ground was very waterlogged and the pitch didn't seem to have any drainage. We were there for 3 days and during that time our jockey wheel sank 4 inches. The wardens suggested moving after a couple of days to a hardstanding but having set up our awning we didn't want to mess around. We were able to hook up the car when leaving but the motor mover wouldn't get us off the pitch. Otherwise this is a nice site. Just don't go onto the grass!!
