Very enjoyable again!

Once again we have just had a weekend away at Poolsbrook. Ideally placed, just off junction 29A of the M1, this charming site is tucked away on the Poolsbrook Country Park. Very good staff and excellent facilities coupled with lovely walks around the Country Park. Shopping is catered for in Stavely and further afield in Chesterfield. Bolsover Castle, Hardwick Hall and the Peak District are all well worth a visit.

Happy Site

We stayed for three nights over the weekend and as on our previous visits found the site accommodation excellent. The pitches are spacious and the facilities are immaculate with numerous service points including toilet emptying provision. Even though the site was full (it is very popular at weekends) it was very peaceful and quiet. There is a playground however some children were riding bikes and scooters around although this did not present a problem. The staff were very helpful and friendly and there are numerous walks for dogs around the site.We will be back.

Lovely site, poor location

The site itself is lovely. The pitches are spacious and level. The toilet/shower facilities are very clean and modern. It is a good base for seeing around South Yorkshire and Poolsbrook Country Park is right next door and good for a nice walk. The rest of the surrounding area is pretty poor and run down, with an industrial estate next door. Another reviewer mentions the noise from music being played by youths parking up in their cars next to the site. Not sure whether there was a rave going on tonight or if it was youths in their cars, but it is 3.45am and the music is still blaring out! Not good. The only site we have ever visited where we won't return. Sorry, not our cup of tea.

Lovely surprise

We booked this site the day before for a final stop over, for 1 night, after 3 weeks of touring in our motorhome. It was a glorious surprise to arrive on a spacious attractively laid out and well maintained site. The staff were very welcoming friendly and helpful. The toilet and shower block, along with washing up and laundry facilities were spotless, secure and accessible. The shower was fantastic, unlike many of the push button affairs we'd encountered this was constant supply and fully adjustable. The play area for children (which we didn't need) was slightly off site but it looked good. Considering this was once a colliery it is a remarkable piece of land recovery. The other excellent point is that it's not very from the M1 but there was no road noise, perfect. Would definitely visit again to see the local attractions or to just stop off and break the journey.

Lovely bank holiday weekend

Stayed here initially over new year which was lovely so wanted to return in the summer. The site is very well kept, the wardens are friendly and helpful. The shower block is clean and there was never a queue despite the site being full. Lots of families and children playing. Some large groups (including ours) but not too noisy or rowdy. Lovely walks from the site and bike rides. We will most certainly return.

Little Gem

Wasn't to sure when we booked to stay here but wow very modern looking site with pitches in perfect condition and toilet block was spotless. Lovely little walk around the lake and cafe nearby. Trans Pennine Trail from the site which is perfect for the bikes; can go to chesterfield or Rother Valley on it. Would recommend for a short stay.

Lovely to be back

recently returned fro almost 2 weeks at Poolsbrook. What a difference this time around. The 2 sets of wardens this time I cannot rate highly enough, especially after our very bad experience 2 years ago. We love the area and there is so much to do here. We never tire from visiting Chesterfield, Bakewell, Buxton, Castleton and High Peak. There is even a parkrun in Poolsbrook Country Park so take your running kit! A lovely site with well kept grounds and immaculate facilities, you couldn't wish for better.

Great site for a short break

Recently stayed at Poolsbrook for a weekend exploring the Dark Peak. It's been 2 or 3 years since our last stay, and the site greenery has really grown into itself, I seem to recall the site was fairly new during our first site and was a little barren but it's developed into a very pleasant oasis. The site maintains the usual club standards of maintenance and cleanliness, and is well located for the likes of Chatsworth, Hardwick Hall, Eyam etc. There are also some pleasant walks around the country park and lake located next to the site.. The wardens are lovely too, John and Deborah were on duty during our stay and seem to really enjoy their work and were very helpful. We're already planning our next visit.
