Visited two or three times in 2017 and being only 13 miles from home, this seemed a good place to start our season. And it was except for the last full day when it started to rain and then turned to thick fog as we departed. But that can happen on any camp site, club or otherwise. The great thing is the location, its easy to get there from the M1, the booking in process is simple, the pitches are all level, the toilets are spotless, the company from surrounding pitches was wonderful and there is so much walking available in the country park and places to visit in the surrounding area, need I go on? I will just mention though that I was really pleased to see Churnet Valley Railway timetables for the current season in the Information Room, as my wife and I are volunteers there. Best advice, book a pitch and see for yourself!
Lovely site
We have family who live in nearby Worksop and although we have used the Clumber Park site before, this is a little easier for us (travelling from the south) and strangely, is easier for the relatives to get to too!
The site is easy to get to from J29A on the M1 and generously laid out with plenty of hard standing pitches (a must as our stay was early April 2018). The adjacent country park is right on hand for long dog walks and family friendly with a well sized play park and café (although watch out for opening times!)
The only thing we missed was an onsite play area. One thing we love about going away to CAMC sites are that we feel assured that our 8yr can have some independence with cycling and use of play facilities without mum and dad having to be in constant tow!
We will certainly use the site again
Fantastic Little Site
Excellent facilities that we now expect from the caravan and motor home club sites. Nice friendly staff. Excellent dog walking just off site. Chesterfield town a must to visit. Supermarkets and pubs not far away. Well-stocked Caravan shop not far away if you need anything the on-site shop does not stock. Will definitely visit again!

First class site
We struggled to find a hotel in Chesterfield or the surrounding area who could accommodate 2 adults and 3 kids in 1 room, 2 rooms being out of our price range we opted to bring our tourer down from SW Scotland instead, the site was ideally located for visiting friends in Chesterfield. Originally we planned to stay 3 nights, however we suffered a breakdown with our car and ended up staying an additional 2 nights while it was being repaired. The car being off the road meant we had to rely on the bus into chesterfield, we enjoyed a pleasant 10 minute walk into Staveley (Sat/Sun service 77) partly via the pennine way track. The other bus (74) which is Mon to Fri stops 2 mins from the site entrance. The site and facilities were very clean and the staff very welcoming. There was work being carried out on the site during the day to increase the number of pitches but as we were out most of the days, this didn't bother us and it appeared to be nearing completion. The nearby country park is great with a café and a huge park for the kids, there is also a lovely walk round the pond were there are lots of ducks, swans etc. A first class caravan park and we will definitely be back soon.
Perfect Poolsbrook!
We have stayed at this site several times and cannot fauIt it. It is the cleanest site we know from the outside areas to the spotless showers. The wardens and their assistants work tirelessly to achieve this but they also go out of their way to be both friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. Well done to all concerned!

Great Site
Booked at the last minute and stayed here as Chatsworth was closed due to the snow. Now that we have been here we will stay in preference to Chatsworth if we are visiting the area or overnight stopping on the way North or South on the M1, which is close but you can't here it. Spotlessly clean and tidy....the TV reception is poor so don't forget your cable to connect to the services post!! There was a bit of noise during the day as there were landscape gardeners putting in addition pitches but quiet at night.
Great pub called the "Devonshire Arms" at Middle Handley nearby...try it you won't be disappointed.

Great walks nearby
Stayed overnight at Poolsbrook in Feb 18. Had a nice stay despite freezing cold weather!
Staff were friendly and the toilet and shower block were spotless.
Playground and Green Gym in the next door park with nice walks around and lots of Ducks / Swans etc to feed too (Duck food on sale - 50P at reception!)
Great Site next to a country park and immediate access to the Trans Pennine Way.
The Warden team were excellent, friendly and helpful. We needed to arrive a day early and they pulled out the stops to accommodate us. The site is nice and level with great facilities. True there was some work being carried out to replace some grass pitches with hardstandings and service pitches, but it didn't cause us a problem and the disruption minimal. Personally, we prefer to have hardstanding so happy for more to be created.
The weather was pretty poor but it didn't stop us walking out along the Trans Pennine Way or around the Country Park. We would certainly stay again.
Disappointed
A regular visitor to this site was somewhat disappointed on our arrival that there were workmen on the site creating more hard standings and fully service pitches. A bit noisy during the weekdays. Why is this not mentioned in the details when booking.
Also friends wanted to join us for the weekend but site was showing full Friday and Saturday night. When the days arrived there were over ten empty pitches both nights so they could have come if the late availability had been updated. This is not the first time we have seen this happen. Why are sites showing full when they are quite clearly not. We are losing money!!!. I don’t believe for one minute they are all subject to cancellations.
Snowy Poolsbrook
A great site in Poolsbrook Country Park. The site is level with a slight incline as you approach the entrance. The Country Park would be lovely on a nice day and has picnic tables, a lake and a small cafe. There is also a children's play area.
When we were there we had heavy snow in February and we had to extend our stay by a couple of nights. The site staff were excellent and cleared and gritted the access road.
