Love this little site. Been twice now on different plots and still a fab view of the sea. Wardens are very friendly and helpful. If you want a chill out break this is the one to come to. We will be back, just love it
Perfect Pitch
It was our first visit to Old Hartley, check in was easy and friendly, we had a good choice of pitches, all with great views of the sea. We went up to Blyth to see the Tall Ships and meet local friends. The view of the ships sailaway was spectacular, with the wardens giving the ok for our friends to join us for a BBQ that day.
With showers fabulously clean, refuse collection very frequent and the site quiet yet friendly, it all added up to a great stay.
We will certainly be back next year as there is alot of beautiful Northumberland to enjoy and this site provides a great base to start from.
Perfect peace
Just visited the tall ships at blyth once again the club has risen to the job of location location the wardens were really helpful and even found an alternative place to see the ships leaving ,completing a perfect stay
Stunning views
This review my be a little biased. I grew up about 5 miles from this site so I know the area very well. I returned to Whitley Bay to visit family and also introduce my kids to the Northumberland sights I grew up will.
The site itself is beautifully perched on top of the cliffs above Collywell Bay overlooking St Mary's Lighthouse. Whilst the pitches are mainly level the site itself is on a slope so beware if this would cause you difficulties. There are the usual amenities, toilet block well kept, pot wash, laundry and information Hut.
The site was full when we stayed (late August 2016) and it was noticeable that there seemed to be 2 motorhomes for every one caravan.
There is an amazing fish n chips shop about 1 mile away in Seaton Sluice (Harbour Fisheries) and the true Italian ice cream in Seaton Delaval is to die for (Crescent Cafe - Ahrrighi's) at the top of The Avenue....gotta do it-its the law!
Ideal site for everything
We have been coming to this site for nearly 30 years because it is ideal for seeing the various tourist places, the lovely beaches and, oh yes, the fish and chips.
All the wardens in the past were great but, unfortunately, the present one is rude, rigid and uncaring. We arrived 20 minutes early after 3.5 hours drive and were told to go away and find a lay-bye, which there is none this side of the Tyne Tunnel, even our friend needed to couple his oxygen machine to the mains, the warden did not want help or care.
It has spoilt our 3 weeks holiday as we never have been treated like this way before and always thought and believe the the caravan sites are home from home.
Strict wardens, yes....uncaring one...no.
Regardless of this we will go back next year because the site is magical.
Good work Old Hartley!
Really enjoyed our recent stay at Whitley Bay! The views are amazing, and the site is very peaceful and quiet, and very well run. The wardens were very helpful and doing a great job keeping every thing spotless and well looked-after.
We'll be back!
Old Hartley
What a lovely site with the most incredible view, there's always something to watch, cruise liners departing fron Newcastle was spectacular, didn't want to leave.

Great site
The location of this site is excellent with great view. The facilities are very clean. Only negative was that there is no play area for children. Will definitely come back though
Fabulous light house views
Not a site for those with mobility problems or young children who want a play ground. Pitches are small, sloping and you have to go over grass to get to them but on the plus side fabulous location, excellent views of the lighthouse, clean toilet block and a pub nearby. Worth the mile walk along the cliff to seaton sluice to either the chip shop or kings arms. Everything you need on site. Male warden alittle abrupt on arrival but no further issues. Would visit again.
