First CAMC Site, Liked It, Great Views, Clean Facilities, Good Access for Newcastle

This was our first stay at a CAMC site and a first trip to the area: we liked both. The site was clean, well kept with good views from the pitches. The showers were new, clean, hot. The staff were jolly, although we only saw them at check in. The nearby walks looked good although we didn't venture far. We liked that we could catch a bus into Newcastle from only a few hundred yards away, cost £2 each way thanks the Government cap, not bad for an hour's journey. Whilst we didn't visit them there's a range of pubs with a short walk or drive. We'd definitely visit this site again. No real downsides as such but I did feel it was a shame that with all the efforts gone to level each pitch that they weren't level and everyone seemed to need blocks - maybe it's a drainage thing. Also you had to cross grass to get to the hardstanding, slightly sloping grass at that.

Recent uograde

Just returned from the site. Great location and the weather was great as well. Regarding the recent upgrade of the site well done but - It would have been nice if the hard standings were connected to the road so you did not need to drive over the grass. Whilst I managed to get on a level hard standing would it not have been possible to level out some of the more sloping pitches. The position of the motor home service point creates a queue at the exit to the site when more than one motor home is using the facility.

Fantastic location

3rd time staying here, it is well located for coastal walks and a great view of St Mary’s lighthouse and island. In easy reach of Newcastle, the Metro is a great way to get into town. Your bucket list should include Hexham, Seahouses, Hadrians Wall, Bamburgh Castle, the list goes on. Not really a site for children and I wouldn’t recommend using an awning it can get very windy on the cliff edge. The shower/toilet block has been refitted to a high standard. Wardens are friendly and very helpful. My only gripes are the pitches, they are awful! They need to be correctly sized as they are too small they also need some levelling, some pitches are a challenge to get your vehicle level. Overall I love its location and I will continue to occasionally stay here.

Can’t be faulted at all.

Great site with stunning views. You need chocks as on a slope. Staff are lovely, nice clean facilities. Would definitely recommend .

Not up to the standard I expect

This campsite is in a stunning position overlooking St Mary's Lighthouse - for most pitches. Easy access onto the English Coastal Path and local cafe pubs shops. The new facilities are spotlessly clean and endless hot water in the shower. The site is spoiled by the pitches which for me is a fairly important part of camping. Pitches are hard standing but you have to drive over grass to get to them. Our van is 6m long and only just managed to fit onto the pitch with no gravel at the front back or side - so sitting out was on muddy grass , no gravel for a BBQ and trying to get the bikes of the back on slippery grass not easy. All pitches are sloping in all directions so trying to level with chocks is vey hard. We then had a massive step up into the van. We were charged £37.50 per night for this. Given the recent revamp of the facilities which I cannot fault this site is let down by the lack of investment in the actual pitches themselves.

Lovely Site near Whitley Bay

Arriving at the site we were warmly welcomed by the relief wardens. The site was being run by a fantastic couple where nothing was too much trouble and took an interest in their residents when required. We asked for fish and chips recommendations and were provided with directions and a business card for the nearest chippy (Harbour View); fantastic fish and chips! The site itself has a very modern and clean shower block with great showers and ample room to get dressed and loads of coat hooks in each cubicle. Great walks by the sea and easy flat walking along gravel paths to Tynemouth 5 miles or Whitley Bay 2 miles, Seaton Sluice 1 mile or utilise the many cycle tracks. As others have mentioned the only downside are some of the hardstanding pitches being too uneven, too short for 7m long units and a little too close to each other. Despite the comments about the pitches we will be back at this well maintained site as it's a great location for visiting the Northumbrian coastline. Thank you wardens for making our weekend a lovely experience and hopefully 'the powers that be' can address the pitch conditions.

Great stay near Whitley Bay

This site is really good, Helen was so helpful and the place was spotlessly clean with good facilities. The only negatives is that the pitches are very close together, and it’s very hilly but I will definitely be coming back and staying longer. Keep up the good work guys

Great Site pity about pitches

I stayed on this site from 6 - 9th Oct 2024 The site is in a great location with terrific views over the North Sea and St Mary’s lighthouse ( although it was covered with tarpaulins because of renovations work) The site amenities are first class with modern showers and hot water. The negatives of the site are the inferior pitches. Most of the pitch’s require levelling both back to front and side to side. I tried to level my caravan side to side with a millenco leveller but even at the maximum height the van was still not level. Why does the Caravan Club not spend some money and make all pitches level for units to drive on without having to spend time and effort levelling their units.? The nightly fees can be in excess of £40/night and the least I would expect is to have a level pitch. In my opinion this is a basic requirement for a site to offer. Fancy toilet blocks are one thing but please consider basic requirements.

Perfect Little Site, Wonderful Location.

As we live very close to this lovely little site we hadn’t visited it to experience its charm. However as we had some building work being carried out at home. We thought it a perfect time to escape the works and use the caravan as a hideaway for 4 nights. All the usual facilities were of a high standard, the usual warm welcome from the site staff. It was also really good to be given a ‘Welcome leaflet’ providing loads of local information and titbits of local interest including useful contact numbers of Doctors Vets and other local services. A reminder to all visiting to bring levelling chocks with you👍and a pair of binoculars. A lovely site in a wonderful location. Will return in future.

Excellent little site

We stayed for 3 nights on this beautifully refurbished site overlooking the sea. Friendly and welcoming wardens. Easy access to the coastal path. Lovely newly refurbished shower block - spotlessly clean. Excellent meal at the dog friendly Delaval Arms pub just a few minutes walk away. A peaceful and enjoyable stay.
