Nice location spoilt only by the weather

We stayed at this site weekend 4th Nov - 7th. Have used this site before a few years ago, love the location the views are great, good for walking and cycling unfortunatly the weather over this weekend was awful, Friday night gale force winds and horizontal rain. The site was already suffering from soggy, wet and muddy grass in front of the pitches so with the added rain, conditions getting off the site were difficult. This site would benefit from an upgrade by removing the grass in front of the pitches and putting down more gravel, this would greatly improve access to the pitches and extend the period the site could stay open. The only thing that spolit our stay here (other than the weather) was the male warden, a bit of a jobsworth. A letter of complaint will be sent to the club.

Absolutely brillient

Less than an hour from home is this little site that has a location which is stunning, peaceful and within very easy reach of everything you want. I love biking and this location is excellent for this, you are on a route right up the coast line, with the majority of this off of the roads, and along tracks and trails. The staff are very helpful and the facilities are maintained to a high standard. excellent. We will certainly be using this site gain, a pity it isn't open all year round. Don't forget to take some chocks, the pitches are not level, but this is a small price to pay for the use of this site.

Excellent

Lovely site - perfect for us to visit our son and his family just 2miles down the road.  Good clean facilities and friendly welcome on arrival. Perfect for walking with the dog on the coast path and for cycling enthusiasts. This will be a regular port of call for us from now on.

Great little site

Only two hours from home is this beautiful little site that has a location which is stunning, peaceful and yet within very easy reach of everything you want. We brought the bikes and there is great (and easy) cycling all along the coast from Newcastle right up to Blyth and beyond. The staff are lovely and the facilities are as you would expect with the Caravan Club, excellent. We love going abroad during the summer, but this is a perfect site for a weekend or a short break away. It will be one of our regular haunts. So glad we found it.

Regular vistor

Just finished another stay at this popular site. Great location with fab views of lighthouse. Access to Whitley Bay and or Newcastle via great bus service on main road. Great chip shop nearny and nice pubs with food at nearby Seaton Sluice. Pitches are hard standing but accessed via grass which is quite dry. Exposed to wind from N sea. Pitches sloping so advise arrive in afternoon to get reasonable one. Co-op with bank machine close by. On cycle route North or South. Pub beside gate dog friendly.

Super views

Very enjoyable 4 day stay. Facilities up to the usual high standard. Wardens pleasant and helpful when answering questions. Information hut well set out with lots of useful local information. Lots to do in the area, either on foot or using the local transport. Co-op just down the road for essentials too. Would like to return sometime.

Great View

Stayed here for 2 nights earlier in October in our motorhome. Great views from the pitches which are in tiers. Grass approach to hard standing pitches which could be a bit difficult for some outfits to access. Good walks with the dog from the campsite along to the lighthouse.

Picturesque

Initially only booked on for two nights, but ended up staying for four. We had a lovely view of St Marys lighthouse (unfortunately we never made it over, something for next time). Plenty of walking for the dog and friendly people always willing to tell you where they walk their dog. Handy for buses to Whitley Bay and Blythe (dogs go free). Will definitely visit again.

Shame about the pitches

I've been going to this site for many years. The pitches used to be slabs in two lines and fairly level. It now has gravel in strange shapes and totally unlevelled. Shame really the view is wonderful across to St Marys Island . About time the club spent some of its money and made proper pitches that at least fit a reasonably sized caravan. On the other hand you can spend many hours watching camper vans trying to level up.
