Just arrived back from an 8 day stay at this site, a very remote and peaceful site, wardens very friendly and helpful.Site is handy for Whitby and Sandsend beach which certain parts of the beachs is dog friendly.
Downside is no toilets or facilities for washing.
Please note if you have dogs,We have 2 small dogs and although they were Frontlined before we went they got ticks from the dog walks on site as there is sheep nearby and around the site ,apparantly they are early this year! so take a tick remover with you,a few people also mentioned their dogs had caught them as well.
Peaceful
The first thing you should be aware of is that there is no toilet block. Our first reaction was to leave (I had not noticed this lack in the guide) as althogh we have all facilities in our new van we only used them for basic needs. However we soon realise our van was more than adequate so we stayed and throughly enjoyed the site. The only downside was the frquency we had to empty the waste water and top up the water but there are plenty of taps etc. on the site. As the name implies this is a fairly remote site with no shops etc. nearby so think ahead but you can drive to Whitby if necessary (very busy). There are two good dog walks on site and several excellnt but rugged paths one of which can be acessed from the site. Stout boots and sticks are a benefit!
A very peaceful place and well worth visit. Usual very helpful reception.
another good site
hi
just got back from this delightful site ,having visit this last year ,the site has no facilities ,but that adds to the charm ,and the warden/s are efficient at getting you booked in as the queue quickly builds up at the 12.00 arrival time .
Since last year the site has has some improvements especially the CEP point near pitch 82-83 which is now better ,(but please use the path ,and not cut across the grass).
there is so much to do around the area with the coast and moors ,that if you are new to the area ,you will not be disappointed .
the club states the TV reception is good ,but i would take this with a pinch of salt ,as the picture does break up on a evening more often .
the site was full ,due to the Tour of Yorkshire ,but generally i feel it is a site you may not have a issue trying to book.
will be returning next year ,and hopefully the same pitch
Great site.
It was our first visit to this site but it won't be our last. Lovely site arranged in smaller areas divided by trees and shrubbery, We were down the bottom of the site and had fantastic views over the surrounding countryside. Really friendly wardens too.
Great for visiting many places in the area, Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay, and the North York Moors railway to mention just a few.
We hope to be back soon.
First week end away this year
Our first week end away this year was at this delightful site, our last week end away last year was here as well. We enjoy the area and it is not so far away from home that it needs to be long week ends away. My husband is a landscape gardener so we cannot get away as much as I would like, so a hop skip and a jump from Malton to Sneaton is not very far but just far enough away to be a break. I prefer the sites that don't have the toilet blocks as they tend to be the quieter sites and I just love the peace and quiet. We will be back again.
Wonderful Site
Most enjoyable site. As suggested by so many others the site wardens were excellent and their advice was invaluable. Great position for access to Robin Hood Bay and Whitby. Top tip was the walk down to Ravenscar beach to see the seals and no visit would be complete without a stop off at the Falling Foss Cafe, and easy walk from the site. No shower or toilet blocks which lets the site down slightly but otherwise first class.
a very pleasing experience
Previous reviews say what is needed to be said. except that this site is good for a bit of relaxing bird spotting. Today on the bird feeder and nearby wood we spotted in less than 30 mins chaffinch, siskin ,goldfinch ,coal tits, a great spotted woodpecker, greenfinch, great tit, blue tit, sparrows, wagtails, pigeons and a very tame robin and quite a few hungry squirrels
First timers
Our first night out with our Van, we really weren't sure what to expect, our host greeted us and was really friendly and helpful, the pitches were very clearly marked, the whole site had an air of peace and tranquility.
We had so much fun setting up, in the rain, our dog and English Springer) broke his collar in the first 5 minutes. I hope we didn't disturb too many people with our laughing, but if we were sensible we would have tried everything at home, in an orderly fashion, it wouldn't have been so hilarious though
We loved the site, it is beautiful, well kept, small and friendly, what more could you want.
We will be back soon

Back to how it use to be.
Spent the Easter break at this site. The welcome from the warden was friendly and she provided loads of information on what there was locally to see and do. We found the site both pleasant and relaxing even though it was a bank holiday weekend.
It was refreshing to go back to how sites were when we first started caravanning when you relied on your own toilet and washroom facilities.
Its a highly recommended site to try
Why Aren't There More Like NYM Site?
Very clean and accessible site based around a circular access road with many 'glades' off. Newly refreshed water/waste facilities and well managed grounds. Stunning sunsets over the moors from the 'western' pitches.
Close to many places of interest - Whitby, Scarborough, Robin Hoods Bay, Staithes etc and walking direct from the site.
Not everyone wants or needs sites with toilet blocks and showers. This site hasn't them and is all the better for it!
