Peace and quiet

Friendly welcome from wardens. Site busy but we were lucky to get a pitch that suited us. Site was well maintained with a lovely dog walk where we were lucky to see a deer in amongst the trees not more than 20 yards from caravans. Excellent location for walking or for trips to Whitby, via park and ride. Can recommend walk to Foss Falls Cafe where food is delicious. Recommend getting Disc Zone Display from wardens that will allow up to 3 hours free parking at West Cliff on edge of Whitby. The site was so peaceful which seemed to encourage people to talk to each other which is great. It's a pity that the usual few exceptions don't seem to be able to follow simple pitching instructions and abandon cars at the front of the pitch or even move the peg marker on the grass pitch next to us rather than pitch where the warden wanted him to. However weather was good on the whole and we enjoyed a lovely two week holiday. Fish and Chip van on the Friday night was excellent.

Nice Site

We stayed here last week for a couple of nights. The site is much better maintained that it was a few years ago. The last time we visited there were load of old caravans in storage with dirty awning hanging off their sides. The crazy golf course has been tided up too. It used to be like a jungle of nettles and thistle. For 2 nights for 2 adults and 2 kids I thought £45.20 was expensive, especially as this site does not have a toilet block.

Spacious and friendly

We arrived on site and were met by helpful and friendly staff. The pitch we chose was visited by the local squirrels and bird life, among which were woodpeckers, sparrows, chaffinches, robins, blackbirds and blue tits. We even had a surprise visit from an inquisitive mole, venturing up through the soil at dusk. At one time we had 8 squirrels on the bird feeder, all vying for the best position to feed from. There are lots of things to do locally, such as Whitby Abbey and Robin Hoods Bay among them. We stayed a week and didn't get to see everything so we will certainly be returning.

Review June July 2007

Stayed on site for 12 days. A lovely well kept site.Nice & quite. The wardens were very friendly & were hard working keeping the site it tip top condition. The weather was rather inclement but still plenty to do & see within the area. Only thing that spoiled the site was irresponsible dog owners who could nor be bothered to clean up their dog mess on the dog walks area. Twice whilst taking our 2 dogs for walks I inadvertently trod in dog poo. Not very nice!!!! Otherwise a smashing site Will visit again next year. DOG OWNERS CLEAN UP YOUR DOGS POO.

Not here long enough

We stayed here for three nights on our way to somewhere else. A lovely peaceful site with views over the Moors and really good value. Not bothered about no toilet block. We did an excellent walk recommended by the wardens and took the motorhome to Whitby park and ride which was easy to find and the bus stopped right in the centre of town. Delicious fish and chips at Trenchers but best to go mid afternoon to avoid the queues. Not here long enough so must go back.

First Time at this CAMC Site - PLEASE SLOW DOWN

First time here - LOVELY. So peaceful and the views are stunning. Site as ever is immaculate and clean and the wardens clearly take pride in their work. The planters next to the service points are a nice touch. Pitches are nice and big. One observation - Having been to lots of CAMC sites - speeding on this site seems to be prolific. I think our pitch (74) was on the finishing straight before the hairpin to the chequered flag!!! Honestly some drivers must have been hitting nearly 20 MPH going past our pitch. Nearly woke the dog up ;) - PLEASE PLEASE slow down, there is just no need. CONS No shower or toilet block No Wifi PROS Lovely quiet site Views Excellent dog walk in the woods - fenced in so rover can roam freely Everyone we met was so friendly Will definitely be staying here again.

Peaceful

Just arrived back from an 8 day stay at this site, a very remote and peaceful site, wardens very friendly and helpful.Site is handy for Whitby and Sandsend beach which certain parts of the beachs is dog friendly. Downside is no toilets or facilities for washing. Please note if you have dogs,We have 2 small dogs and although they were Frontlined before we went they got ticks from the dog walks on site as there is sheep nearby and around the site ,apparantly they are early this year! so take a tick remover with you,a few people also mentioned their dogs had caught them as well.

Peaceful

The first thing you should be aware of is that there is no toilet block. Our first reaction was to leave (I had not noticed this lack in the guide) as althogh we have all facilities in our new van we only used them for basic needs. However we soon realise our van was more than adequate so we stayed and throughly enjoyed the site. The only downside was the frquency we had to empty the waste water and top up the water but there are plenty of taps etc. on the site. As the name implies this is a fairly remote site with no shops etc. nearby so think ahead but you can drive to Whitby if necessary (very busy). There are two good dog walks on site and several excellnt but rugged paths one of which can be acessed from the site. Stout boots and sticks are a benefit! A very peaceful place and well worth visit. Usual very helpful reception.

another good site

hi just got back from this delightful site ,having visit this last year ,the site has no facilities ,but that adds to the charm ,and the warden/s are efficient at getting you booked in as the queue quickly builds up at the 12.00 arrival time . Since last year the site has has some improvements especially the CEP point near pitch 82-83 which is now better ,(but please use the path ,and not cut across the grass). there is so much to do around the area with the coast and moors ,that if you are new to the area ,you will not be disappointed . the club states the TV reception is good ,but i would take this with a pinch of salt ,as the picture does break up on a evening more often . the site was full ,due to the Tour of Yorkshire ,but generally i feel it is a site you may not have a issue trying to book. will be returning next year ,and hopefully the same pitch

Great site.

It was our first visit to this site but it won't be our last. Lovely site arranged in smaller areas divided by trees and shrubbery, We were down the bottom of the site and had fantastic views over the surrounding countryside. Really friendly wardens too. Great for visiting many places in the area, Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay, and the North York Moors railway to mention just a few. We hope to be back soon.
