Short but Perfect stay

Being the October whitby Goth weekend, we only managed to get booked on the site for 1 night. But we will revisit as it was a well kept, dog friendly site, ideally situated for our stay. The facilities for fresh water top up and grey water emptying are easily accessed in a motorhome, no heavy metal covers to lift for grey water. The site wardens are very welcoming, friendly and helpful. A very peaceful, very well run site, definitely worth a visit.

Staying under a dark sky

We started visiting this site three years ago. We are steampunks and our son is a goth. We find the site very well located for the twice a year Whitby goth festival. I love the site as it is under a dark sky and this visit I took my telescope and camera and took some wonderful pictures of the starry night sky. The best way to get to the site is from the south from Scarborough there are some steep gradients to the west and north of Whitby. The site is extremely well maintained and the site wardens were very friendly and helpful. Yes there are limited facilities no shower blocks on this site due to it's location but knowing that up front you should be prepared. The site does not have very good EE phone coverage but does have the club's internet. My only criticism not of the site but of the area is there is a limited number of family pubs and none within a 15 minute walk. When approaching the site across the cattle grid be careful of the sheep roaming free. They tend to hide behind the bushes and cross the roads just in front of you. It's become a bit of a joke in the family we always get a guard of honour when we arrive. The wardens sign post the weather details and it's advice well worth listening too. The site is located on top of the moor with a valley running down one side. It can be extremely windy on the site. Yes the site is ringed by trees but at the start and end of the season there is not much in the way of a wind break. All in all a very good clean site, friendly and helpful staff a lovely remote site for a peaceful and calm break

Nice peaceful site

Spent 3 peaceful September nights here. Sadly arrived too late to get a gravel pitch and so had to put up with wet and muddy feet. Whitby was worth a visit despite the fish and chips smell.

Rude male manager

1st & last visit to the site. Lovely location & peaceful area, however the male manager is extremeley rude & lazy and as a paying guest i do not expect to be spoken to and laughed at the way he did with me & my disability. Disgusting attitude & in the wrong job

Comment from the Club:

We are sorry to read your comments and that you won't be visiting the site again. The wardens have been in touch as they want to clear up any misunderstanding and would like to assure you they were not laughing at you and would never laugh at a disability. However, if you would like to make a complaint please can you email our sites team UKSitesBookingService@camc.com.  We apologise for the misunderstanding and hope that you do decide to return again in the future.

Short stay at North York Moors

Lovely stay although only a couple of nights. It was so peaceful. We had a lovely, friendly welcome which is always great and is such a good start to a stay. We walked to the nearby waterfall and we got the Park and Ride to Whitby. We were able to take our dog on the bus and did not have to pay for her. Had a lovely walk round the town, it was a very busy Saturday in early October. Will certainly visit again when in that part of the country as there is more to see than we had time for.

Great site with lovely walks.

Very friendly. No toilet block keeps it very reasonable on price. May Beck was delightful. Whitby is lovely and there is some stunning coastline.

Can be windy

Enjoyed a few days here in mid August 2017. Good, clean, well-managed site, though very windy weather caused some people problems with their awnings. This is the only Club site that I know with a 'Petanque terrain', so you can have a relaxing game of boules in the evenings. Good local walks and scenic drives. Recommend Great Fryup Dale by Danby for unspoiled farming countryside with few people and narrow roads. Very pretty villages along the River Esk.
