Fantastic location

Location for this part of the Yorkshire Moors couldn't be better. Very easy access to Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay and the lovely Esk Valley. Excellent walks from the site. Site itself is very peaceful. No views unfortunately from the caravan but the trees do mean that it is fairly sheltered. Plenty of views as soon as you walk out of the perimeter! Pitches are well spaced and the site is beautifully kept. Not as clinical or cramped as some CC sites we've stayed on so would definitely recommend.

Another Peaceful Visit

Small site with both grass and hardstandings in small glades based around a circular 'ring road'. This has become our 'go to' site as it is quiet, peaceful and in a glorious part of the country. Easy access to coast, woods, moorland, river valleys - ideal. All the trappings of the coastal towns and villages of Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay, Scarborough, Filey and Staithes not too far away. Miles of brilliant coastal and remote moorland walking and cycling on disused railway tracks. Love the place but don't go there...save spaces for me!

“Our go too site”

We use this site a lot as a local get away. The wardens always make you feel welcome and are always happy to stop and pass the time of day. They have work wonders on the site in the few years and now it is all coming together. The flower beds look lovely. It is a quiet and tranquil site and it is lovely to hear the birds first thing in the morning. It is definitely a site that we return to time after time. Excellent dog walks in and around the area without the need of a car.

Always a joy !!

We’re regular visitors to this site and we love it. You always get a warm welcome from the wardens, and they are always helpful. The site is ideally placed if you like walking and afternoon tea or lunch at Falling Foss is an added bonus and a delight. These wardens have made a big difference to the site, adding nice touches like bedded area around the site. Back soon I hope

Wonderful Autumn Stay

We arrived during storm Callum to a warm welcome from the wardens, who were also friendly and helpful during our stay. The site is easy to access, and has a mix of grass and hardstanding pitches, which are set out in small sections, giving the feeling of space . The site is surrounded by trees with tantalising glimpses of the moors between them. There is an excellent dog walk and you can access the lane to Falling Foss from the gate in the dog walk, from there we did a lovely circular walk to May Beck, and back through the woods. There are plenty of service points around the site and the Motorhome point has one of the new open grid emptying points. The site is a little remote,( which may not suit everyone) away from the main road so it is very quiet, plenty of wildlife, we even saw a Deer one afternoon. There is plenty to do in the area with the coast and moors close by, the site also has mini crazy golf, equipment available at reception. Ruswarp has a wonderful butchers which also sells great pies and cheeses, there is also a pub but car parking is very limited. We enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch at The Plough in Sleights and dogs are welcome in the bar. Whitby is lovely and the beach is completely dog friendly in October, don't forget to try the Fish & Chips 😉 This is a wonderful no facilities site and one we will return to.

Only an overnighter....

...on our way back home & booked by CAMC staff at a site further up north. But it was lovely. Very exposed despite the trees trying to give some protection. Excellent for dog walking. Obviously can't comment on facilities too much as there is no toilet block but the staff are always out & keeping everything tidy & clean around the water points etc. No doubt it is a good location for that part of the world & handily placed for the resorts in that area.

Great site, best dog walk we have experienced to date 👍

This was the second time we have visited this site this year and is becoming one of our favourites. The site had plenty of room with both grass & hardstanding pitches available. The wardens weren't on duty when we arrived but this presents no problem as you simply post your membership card & go & find a pitch, reporting back when the reception opens. The wardens were very friendly & helpful and provided some excellent baking at the McMillan Coffee Morning. The wooded dog walk is a delight, it feels like a scene from the Hobbit, you can let the dog loose without worrying about them getting lost. The site is ideally situated for The North Yorkshire Coast which, in my opinion, i s as good as anywhere in the country. The North Yorkshire railway is near by, there was a 'steam weekend' on which was a bonus. I take my kayak which I launch from Sandsend from the car park if the weather allows, It was too windy to go out so I fished from the car park & caught a few. We will be back 👍

peaceful and tranquil site

We had a lovely week at the site and despite the howling winds and lashing rain managed to visit everywhere we had planned. The wardens were really friendly and helpful and the site was spotlessly clean and tidy. The information shed is full of interesting leaflets and books with plenty of ideas of things to do locally. The dog walking area is great, quite a reasonable walk and the dogs could run off lead and sniff about. We did a circular walk from Goathland to Little Beck and sat outside the pub in the sunshine enjoying a pint, an old fashioned pub as the bar is in the front room of the house and the beer is served through a hatch from the kitchen. Another walk off the site is to Foss waterfall where we sat again in the sunshine and had a tasty lunch before heading back uphill to the site. Scarborough sea front and harbour was beautiful although we couldn't walk on the beaches as the dog beach was closed but it is open from the end of September. we will definitely return to the site next year as there is so much to do around and about.

Lovely site

We've spent a long weekend here in July. We received a warm and friendly welcome from the warden lady. The site is kept impeccable. The information hut with all the leaflets was absolutely tidy. The site is lovely and peaceful, I loved the location as it is kind of in the forest. There's a lovely little walking area as well in the neighbouring forest. The site is close to Whitby and Scarborough, and if you're a Heartbeat fan like my other half, visiting Goathland is a must :) The only drawback was the poor internet reception (this is O2 information), we had to go up to the reception-entrance area to get 3G. It made planning a bit difficult. Other than that it's a very lovely, very well maintained site, would definitely recommend it.

GREAT BASE FOR THE MOORS AND WHITBY.

Just spent a week at this quiet well run site. The wardens were very friendly and the site was super tidy and clean. The location is very remote although lovely but you need a car (we hired one from Enterprise). The area if you have never been is a mixture of flat open moorland and steep hills and climbs like Whitby with its 199 steps and Scarborough (which was a bit too commercial for us!.Sandsend was ideal if you want a long ,quiet beach and we also liked FIley. A trip on the Steam Railway is also a must although expensive compared to West Somerset Railway!
