Lovely tranquil site, within easy reach of the sea and moors. Plenty of walks nearby though it's not always easy to follow some of the public footpath routes and this past week a lot were quite overgrown making passage a tad difficult plus we experienced lots of nettles. But no pain, no gain as they say.
Friendly and Welcoming
The welcome at check-in was very friendly and Karen and Kevin made us feel part of the family. We enjoyed playing boules (in the rain)! Our motorhome is too large to take out on day trips so we took advantage of the discounted car hire with Enterprise. They delivered and collected the vehicle from site at a reasonable additional charge. Throughout the booking process and queries we had, the two people we dealt with, Alfie and Bob were very customer-focussed and professional. My husband enjoyed navigating the narrow, hilly roads in our SUV! Visited the coastal towns though very busy. Enjoyed ice cream at Beacon Farm and cream tea at Goathland. Good walking from site. Beware of ticks in long grass
Relaxing base to enjoy the moors and Yorkshire coastline
We have just returned from a week at this site and feel refreshed. We had not been to this part of Yorkshire before and loved exploring the local area. There are loads of dog walks off the site or you can go off site to explore the beautiful coastline. Whitby, Falling Foss waterfall and Robin Hood bay are great places to visit. Along with Runswick Bay. Great for family and dog friendly beaches. The wardens were warm, friendly and very helpful. They made everyone feel very welcome. Thank you for making this a peaceful base for our family to relax.

Another Excellent Visit
We have stayed on this site 14 times and recently introduced friends with a new motor home to it. Again peaceful, quiet and exceptionally well maintained by the wardens and i would say it looked the best the site has ever been. Nice walk to Falling Foss and great time in Whitby. Sunday lunch at The Postgate Inn in Egton Bridge was excellent. COVID19 was followed fully around the site and at no time did we feel concerned. Fully recommend this site to anyone, the surrounding area is great and lots to do. Do not be put off because there is no toilet block.
Great stay
Just returned from this site after a 5night stay.
Immaculate site, friendly and efficient wardens who deal with Covid rules well
Loads to do in the area, try the Wilson Arms In Sneaton for good value meals
Been here multiple times with our Airedale Terrior who loves the beaches an other walks in the area
Will be back soon
Perfect
Lovely, peace and quiet. Ideal for walks and cycling.loads to do and see locally.extremely good wardens, coped well with post lockdown opening day, seemed to run like clockwork, well done ! Can’t understand those who moan about lack of facilities / location , it clearly states what’s onsite and where it is , Want shower block and a town within a mile ? Go elsewhere.
Fantastic; peaceful and perfectly located
We regularly visit the North York Moors and usually stay in a cottage. However during our last visit we spotted this site and decided to book and bring our caravan up. I am so pleased that we did!
The site is located in a perfect location for a quiet stay with fantastic walks and within easy car travel distance to Goathland, Whitby, Grosmont, Robin Hood's Bay etc - just what we wanted. There is a lovely wood on the site for dog walking and it is only a very short (and lovely) walk to Falling Foss where there is a (seasonal) tea shop.
Despite the review below mine we felt it was an excellent site with very friendly management. We actually welcome and appreciate the policing of the rules. Rules are generally for well founded safety reasons (spacing between vehicles etc) and the interests of other residents. The grass was soft due to the weather and so it seems common sense to me to keep vehicles off of it. No special cases - the rules are the rules for good reason and help ensure what makes Caravan Club sites the high standard that they are.
We shall definitely visit again.
Ok for a short break.
With limited facilities and a fairly remote location there's not a lot to get excited about on this site. Given it's elevated position the views are fairly poor due to the trees screening the site. A couple of miles to the nearest pub down a steep hill means a car journey is essential, walking or cycling would be hard work. Access is very easy albeit via a couple of steep hills on approach. Arriving from the north or south route seemed fairly similar on degree of difficulty, not too bad.
The plus points are the access to the local attractions such as Whitby and the coast, the N.Yorks moors railway and heritage sites in the area. The site was fairly cheap and served the purpose of a weekend pull up but there are better sites locally with better facilities and views.

spoilt stay
good greeting on arrival friendly wardens, very keen to highlight speed limits which is good and totally agree with, unfortunately when his back is turned missed several people ignoring one way system, also arriving on site was a motorhomer from hell who promptly reserved the pitch next to his for his friend by using his motorhome pitched here sign, his friend who arrived with a car conversion proceeded to make everyones life a misery with constant slamming of car doors (about an hour and a half) "pitching" their car, not satisfied with that they then proceeded to have what can only be described as .a shouting contest so loud most of Whitby probably heard it, on the whole though site not bad, it was well placed for Whitby and supermarkets and plenty of attractions such as north yorks moors, steam railway and plenty of coastal places to visit, we will visit again and hope that we find a better pitch away from undesirables
Enjoyable stay.
This place is a little piece of heaven. The wildlife is The noisiest neighbour. Lovely level pitches. Quiet and tucked away from road noise. When the site is full it still is reasonably quiet. Week days there are fewer people around and one can indulge in wild life spotting. We had a deer trot passed our van one afternoon. There is a great secure dog walk which our dogs loved. Unfortunately the weather turned against us, but still enjoyed it. We have been here before and will come here again
