Cotswold delight

We recently spent 8 nights at this pleasant site very near to Moreton in Marsh. The location is ideal in that it is a short walk to the village centre and a very enjoyable one and a half mile walk to Batsford Arboretum. The facilities are good with very helpful wardens. Coljean.

Helpful wardens

We spent 3 nights at this excellent site in October. The site was nearly full when I booked on line with only a pitch without awning available. I phoned to ask the warden if it was possible to be allocated a pitch near the toilets as my wife has walking difficulties. He said he would do his best even though the site was near to capacity and the non awning pitches were scattered around the site. When we arrived two dates later the pleasant female warden who booked us in informed us that they had been able to shuffle things around to place us on an awning pitch by the toilet block. I thought this was excellent service by the wardens given the short notice and the fact that the site was busy and they had plenty of other duties to perform. Throughout our stay all the wardens were cheerful and friendly. The site itself is of a very good standard. There are two toilet blocks. They are clean, well maintained, warm and with plenty of hot water, what more do you need? There is a large play area and an excellent dog walk. Moreton in Marsh is a short walk away and is a lovely little Cotswold town with one of the nicest toy shops we've ever been in. There are plenty of other attractive towns and villages within easy reach. We made the short trip to the pretty Bourton on the Water where we found a large pay and display car park with a section reserved exclusively for motorhomes. In short a very enjoyable Autumn break.

Excellent overnight stay

Had a really nice overnight stay, tried to book for longer but site full.  Staff very helpful and friendly, site up to the usual high standards. Had an excellent meal at the Redesdale Arms. Visited the Batsford Arboretum for the autumnal colours. Will definitely come again.

Great location and good facilities

We stayed for a 3 night break at the beginning of October and overall we had a lovely time but I would like to point out a few things. The site was very busy (understandable, it's clearly popular due to its location) and I asked at reception for a recommendation of a good pitch (not too shaded etc) and was shown the best available ones which we ended up pitching up on. Only after we had put up the awning etc and went to get water we realized that the nearest water and waste point was actually out of order - definitely would have been helpful to know this in advance!! Also the road going past is fairly noisy, thankfully we are not light sleepers so it didn't bother us too much. That said, the site is not recommended for late lie-ins as the grass cutting and the extremely loud path clearing machine start up at 10 every morning. On a plus side, the site had the largest dog walk we have seen on a Club site and the children's playground looked very impressive as well. It's a very short walk to town so location of this site is excellent and the toilet block was nice and clean at all times so credit to the wardens. I would recommend a 3.5 mile walk we did, here is a link with the map and directions: http://www.escapetothecotswolds.org.uk/userfiles/mileswithoutstiles/moreton.pdf

A nice autumn break !

Just spent a week at Moreton - very nice ! If I had a complaint it would simply be that a few less trees around the site would be good, but that said it was a great time of year to visit and see the autumn colours. Pitches are not that big but adequate, and the facilities were spotless at all times, thanks to the hard working, friendly and helpful wardens ! The location is excellent for access to the many surrounding Cotswold villages, and the walk from the site to Batsford Arboretum was well worth the effort - not to be missed at this time of year !!

Only downside was the traffic noise from the main road the other side of the hedge !

NEWBY'S ON TOUR

We are very new to touring as we have only just invested in a motorhome. We stayed at Morton in Marsh for a 3 night stay at the beginning of this month (October). All the staff and all the other people we had dealings with were very helpful offering good advice to us "newby's". The site was excellent. The facilities were very nice and clean and the site is excellently kept. This site is only an hour's drive for us and we are returning again very soon as we have our pitch already booked.

Excellent location

A bit of a rush to arrive in time, having travelled from Yorkshire. Luckily the office was still open and it was nice to be given a choice of pitches. The pitch was quite dark due to trees but no complaints as you can't moan about trees! Great to be able to walk into the village for beers and food. Helpful wardens and cleanliness of shower block exceptional. Fellow campers a bit grumpy but nothing could be done about that!

great trip

Brilliant site. Great location easy access. Great transport network. The only criticism I could say is that the pitches are quite small compared to most Caravan Club Sites with the prices being equally the same. Facilities immaculate as always. Will be returning again for sure.

Grumpy wardens

Arrived at 7.15pm and discovered that a very long aerial extension was needed on the pitches we were on.(we hadn'the needed them on our previous visits). Shame the wardens didn't inform me when I checked in. The office was closed when I went back to buy one. When I went back on Saturday morning I was told I had to pay £15 in cash. The lady shouted to "John" out the back to make up some more cables. Why cash only ? Had to make a special trip to the nearest ATM Why rip people off when it's a necessity because of their poor signal quality ? The male warden was also sarcastic to our friends because they were 10 minutes late leaving !! Some pitches are very cramped and cars have to be parked in front of the vans. Water pressure in the showers very poor. This site appears to have deteriated since our previous visits.
