Moreton-in-Marsh Club Campsite
Our second stay at this site this year and will definitely be back. All of the team were so welcoming and friendly but special thanks to Katie and Phil for taking time out to talk to us about working for the club. The short walk into the village with some lovely shops and pubs is a must and lots of things to do within a short drive from the site.
Excellent
This was a great site within 5 minutes walking distance of Moreton-in-Marsh which has plenty of fantastic pubs 🙂 the site had very clean and heated loos and showers. There was a dog exercise field which our Saluki loved racing round in. The information blackboards at the entrance which gave discounts available in town were useful and with food vans visiting (we had pizza one night, there was a fish and chip van on our second night and a Thai van on our third night) it really was a a super site. We will be back.
Lovely stay every time.
Stayed here 3 times this year as its in the same village as where my brother lives so its really handy.
Clean
Welcoming
Great services
Short Walk to village (take a torch if its at night)
Straight on to footpaths to Batsford Arboretum
Excellent facilities for dogs
Ok for kids as there were a few families there
Lots of information about locality
Food truck nearly every night
10 minute walk to train station taking you to other pretty local villages, to Oxford and London or up to Worcester
Moreton has supermarkets, cafes, pubs, take-aways excellent restaurants (Brace yourself for Henne), church and a market on a Tuesday
Always enjoy our stay.
Easy walking to village from site
We went with friends and managed to get two pitches next to each other on their own. Only had dealings with receptionist on arrival who was friendly & booked us in easily. The site is in a great location a 5min walk into lovely Moreton in Marsh. Also only approx 10 mins walk to train station where we were able to get direct train to Oxford, highly recommend doing that.
We will definitely be back.
Rude warden
This was our first time staying here although from the area. I asked for a pitch near disabled block. Our pitch was awful, in complete shade under a oak tree. We had to remove all the branches before pitching the awning. When I asked if another pitch was available near disabled facilities I was asked by the warden( who could hardly be bothered to look up from his computer) if we have a radar key? When i replied yes his reply was " yer well we have a lit of those types" i was so speechless and angry I walked out!
We're coming back! Less water please....
We needed an Autumn break and we love the scenery in Father Brown so visited the Cotswolds. I'm not sure why I picked Moreton in Marsh over other sites, I can only suggest I had a feeling. Thank goodness I did. The close proximity to the town, the easy stroll to the Arboretum were all brilliant. The food vendors that come to site most nights of the week were amazing value, we especially liked the pizzas but lost our garlic bread to our for legged friends..... or should that be fiends?
The manager and staff do a brilliant job of keeping the facilities in brilliant order, I cannot speak highly enough of them and the help they gave us when our caravan decided to grow an extra shower inside! That's a job for the Club Insurance to hopefully deliver on? If they're a good as Stu and his crew then our caravan will be spick and span in no time, here's hoping!
Our week was wet, only two dry days, but that has not dampened our enthusiasm to return to Moreton in Marsh once we and our caravan have dried out a bit. Will we come back, of course we will.
Returning visitor.
Facilities are always good ,wardens work so hard to maintain them.
My criticism is the trees ,most of them are huge and are in need of some TLC ,ie pruning , if your unfortunate to be under / near them ,u get bathed in tree sap / bird droppings/ leaves , which are a nightmare to remove & clean without staining.
Some of the pitches are poor for club standards for the pitch prices, the traffic noise theres not a lot u can do about , just hope u can pitch furthest away the road side .
Some of the roads also need attention , public roads are bad enough without private roads.
Well placed for exploring the Cotswolds
My first stay as a new member on a MHAC club site. Spotlessly clean facilities and site. I loved the wilder areas and was lucky that the economy pitch faced one of those patches filled with a family of blackbirds and squirrels.
Great to be able to walk into town via the fields or safe walking on a footpath/pavement all the way into town.
Very quiet site. Great meal at The Black Bear. I didn’t explore further as I was moving on the next day.
Overnighter
Only stopped here to break up a journey.
Female Warden was very friendly and booking in was smooth and hassle free.
Given a map with vacant pitches but by the time we got to them they had been taken so we ended up on a pitch next to the road which was obviously noisy.
We had extended our Premium WiFi package after a great service at Cherry Hinton at Cambridge but I'm afraid to say it proved as poor here as it was at Sandringham, either constantly buffering or not loading at all., perhaps a few more WiFi repeaters would be in order.
Derek.
Great location
All you would expect from a club site. Great dog walking area and walks from site. Great location to walk in to town. Only downside is road noise but that's to be expected so close to town.
