Just returned from a couple of weeks in a great place. Both sets of wardens brilliant(never seemed to stop for a break) very helpful - MELROSE is a perfect location - can walk into town for most things/visit Abbey/walks/good eateries - Tweedbank 1.5m park car then train to Edinburgh on new line - the list is as long as you want it to be - would recommend and wil be back
Good site in the centre of the town,no complaints.
Directions to site are good except the roundabout to take into Melrose site is 1.5 miles along the road not 3.5 miles as stated in the directions.
Good places to eat with 10% discount with club membership card ,handy. Will be back again.
Location to the historic town is just 5 mins walk; to the famous Eildon Hills and the Roman fort a short steep walk of just over 1 mile; and to Galashiels a frequent bus service. Site is adjacent to the town, with houses to the east of the site, a busy main road (A6091) to the south and a school to the west. (Noise from the school during play time) Lots of places to eat out in Melrose with 3 establishments offering 10% discount to club members.
We ventured out for the last two weeks of February. The cold weather was more than compensated by the warm welcome and care we received. A superb site with hard working wardens. Located in the middle of town lots of walks, history and watering holes.
Second time we have been there with fellow CC members in another van. Great location and amenities which are kept spot on by the ever helpful wardens.
Did have one issue. Dog dirt! Our fellow travellers arrived after dark and their granddaughter managed to stand on it which had ben deposited at their pitch - took an hour to clean the carpets and seats! Never saw any strays so guessing a fellow camper. Next morning and there were a couple deposits spotted. - Bit of respect people! Again nothing the wardens could have done just some inconsiderates ps dog lover and will be adding one of our own soon - Having said all that will be back again just more careful..
Just had six nights here and really enjoyed our stay. Lovely site, lovely friendly village and most of all dog friendly. The walk along the river was bliss and the scenery was something else. First time here and of course we have booked again. Wardens very helpful and John even came and cured squeak on our caravan door, what do u expect from New caravans these days. Just like to say whoever decided to steal all our wild bird food off the tree on the Saturday night of our arrival, which was quite a lot got some pleasure from it as we certainly didn't. Looking forward to our next trip immensely.
Just enjoyed a long weekend at Melrose great small site in a great location extra handy for the Main Street where there is no shortage of somewhere to eat or drink, never been caravaning in the snow before but it made the scenery all the more spectacular will be back.
Lots of super restaurants - Kings Arms gives a discount to CC members - interesting shops, Rugby, History, lovely walks by the Tweed, lots to do nearby and a superb central site with extremely helpful staff (well they were from Co.Durham so we expected nothing else). Don't tell or others will want to come.
Second time at this site, this year. Although a bit quiet, due to time of year, we had a really nice time. As other reviews have said, the staff were really nice and helpful. Weather was fairly good to us, so we got out along the river with our dog. Also, the town was nice and the couple of pubs we ate at, Kings Arms and the Station Hotel, were dog friendly. So all was good. Hopefully go back later on in the year.
Biased? Yes, have been here many times now. Staff always the same, friendly, helpful and accommodating. Much as the town, which is so close for shopping my wife loves it!!! Plenty to do and see and some great walks for the dogs.
