Very peaceful site!

Great site! Great wardens! Great weather! Really appreciated not having to listen to a lawnmower over the weekend! Well done Wardens!! I personally would ban grass cutting everywhere on Saturdays and Sunday's. Nothing better than being able to 'chillax' at least 2 days of the week - not much to ask for - save the grass cutting for through the week!  We will be back!

First time stay

A super site for our stay 1st to 6th June 2016. Cannot praise the wardens enough nothing was a problem for them they deserve warden of the year award. My wife needs a wheel chair to get around and it was so easy to get into town with her and enjoy Melrose. Thank you wardens.

First visit to Scottish Borders

Very good site, ideal location for a moto-rhome where you can easily walk into the town for coffee or evening meal. Best rugby field I've ever seen, looked more like a bowling green. Check out the Italian restaurant - Monte Casino in the old railway station, meal was excellent. Don't miss out on visiting Abbotsford House, and a walk down the river to the old pedestrian 'Chain bridge' A worthwhile camp site its in my book for a return visit.

Great site

Very friendly staff who are always willing to help. Facilities are well looked after and clean. The site is ideally located with fresh bread from bakers, two excellent butchers, and quaint restraunts and pleasant pubs all within five minutes walk. Don't worry, there is no noise or trouble from the nearby high street, in fact as I've already stated, its a plus point really. Likewise, with the site located between an estate and a school you may at first be a bit concerned. However, like the high street, there is no discernable noise, and you shouldn't really be caravaning if you just want to sit on the site all day. There's tennis facilities, kids play area and a playing field for the kids to burn off any excess energy left over after the local walks along the river, or trips out to nearby towns and events. Really enjoyed our stay and have recommended the site to our camping friends.

Excellent Site

Enjoyed our first visit here and will be definitely coming again. Excellent facilities and helpful staff. Good location for the town with plenty of good eating places. Also near the railway into Edinburgh. Only downside was we used the sat nav for directions and drove pass it twice before getting out the manual which was obvious then. A sign on the road would have solved the problem but apparently the council won't allow it.

perfect site

This was the first time we had been to the site and it was just perfect, everyone was pleasant and cautious, the site was very clean and staff were very helpful. the site is so close to the town but you seem to be out in the country. the local bus service was very handy as we have a campervan. Cannot praise the site enough. We had a little hiccup one night but it was the electricity board who put the whole town in darkness for about an hour but the site cannot be faulted.

Good Town Site

Very clean site. Right in the town giving excellent access to shops pubs etc. At the same time a short walk from footpaths along the river, or surrounding countryside.

Another great stay

We stayed here over the bank holiday weekend, we must have been to this site over 30 times over the years and we are never disappointed. We arrived after driving through heavy snow (this was April 28th) but got a lovely warm welcome in the office, we also pitched in the snow, never done that before! The site easy to find and get if you follow the directions given on the website and handbook and is actually in the village itself. The site is well maintained by the hard working wardens and the shower block always clean and spotless. The ladies is closed from 11-11.30, the men’s from 11.30 -12.00. It is all hardstanding with some non-awning pitches completely on tarmac and they always seem to be taken. The rest of the pitches are on gravel and there are a number of service pitches which again get booked up very quickly. For families just offsite but next to the site there is a large playing field as well as a good size playground with brand new play equipment. There are also tennis courts and club adjacent which you can use with a small payment. There is plenty to do in the village; there is the abbey to explore, two NT gardens and many interesting shops and places to have a light lunch, snack, or an evening meal. The King’s Arms gives 10% off on production of your CC card (as do others, check with the wardens). There are two small supermarkets in the village and larger ones and petrol in Galashiels a few miles away. There is also the new train line to Edinburgh with a station at Tweedbank, again a few miles away. There is a good information room for things to see further afield. It is a popular site so book early as possible. We have already booked for October and can’t wait.

A trip to the "Gem of the Borders"

Another pleasant week spent at Easter on this great site, making full use of our bus passes and indeed a trip to Edinburgh on the Waverley line. never tire of the good beer and food found in the town, along with real butchers, bakers and greengrocers. Jim and Dave.

An ideal Scottish Border Site

My wife and I stayed here for one nights stopover after touring Scotland.  The staff are very friendly and helpful and pitches a good size.  The location is brilliant if you want to walk into town where there are an abundance of small independent shops.  We will certainly visit again and stay longer.
