GREAT SITE
Just spent the weekend at this site and absolutely loved it. The toilets etc were spotless, the wardens were lovely, pitches a good size and well spread out, site extremely well maintained, views pretty. Could not fault anything. We will be back for sure.
Great warrens very clean site
First thing to say is the wardens on this site are great nothing is to much trouble and we asked quite a few questions and they where always on hand to help.
The location of the site is a good 1hr walk into grange on a busy lane so that is the downside so you need to have your wits about you but if your walking dogs that makes it very tricky, if you have a motorhome and forget something like we did it’s a 6 mile round trip so make sure you have all your food because there is 1 pub next door and they shut at 9 and to be honest it’s not that great. They have added a dog run which was a god send and the views are nice the pitches are big so if you want a nice peaceful couple of days I highly recommend thisi is site.
Perfect site
We booked a week here for our 25th anniversary but had to return home after 3 days unfortunately. We had booked to go to a Wales site the following week, but because we loved Meathop so much we managed to rebook and cancel Wales. We could only manage another 3 days but had a fabulous 3 days in what we consider the perfect location and even had the good fortune to return to the same pitch as the previous week. We were met by Tim who helped us set up on a wet Sunday evening and offered very useful advice to us as newbies to caravanning. We will definitely be back..soon we hope..and can’t recommend enough a site that I think would be hard to beat.
Its not the lakes ! Its the Cumbrian Riveria !
Ok so its only 10 minutes drive to catch the bottom end of Windermere and the landscape is very different to lakeland. That said it has its own feel across the stunning Morecambe bay and even better weather than the cloud catching Lake District.
The site itself is the usual CAMC standard and there was nothing to fault the upkeep here. The staff despite being a busy summer school holiday week went out of their way to assist me in getting a large van manovured onto a sloping grass pitch and this was greatly appreciated along with the friendly advice.
The shop is well stocked and the recent dog exercising area is well thought of if you have canine furry companions.
A part of Cumbria that can easily escape the crowds and eye watering car parking problems of the touristy lakes. The nearby fells may lack the prestige of those in the lakes itself but you will have them to yourself along with stunning views across the sunny bay. Grange-over-sands itself is rather pleasant.

Great week
Spent 5 nights after recommendation to try with 2 dogs in our caravan. Everything I was told was spot on very clean easy to book in pitches needed minimal levelling and all the staff were pleasant and helpful. Had such a nice time we booked another week while there and will be using many times in the future. Can't go wrong.
Awkward Campers!
We have stayed at Meathop Fell site many times and it never disappoints. Spotlessly clean toilets and other washing facilities, grounds and pitches are immaculate and wardens are cheerful and friendly. We booked in for twelve nights as there is lots to do in the local area. Everyone in our section of the site were quiet and friendly so we watched with interest when an elderly couple pulled up one Sunday afternoon. Being the end of the weekend there were a few empty pitches and the gentleman chose his then ‘ bagged’ a second pitch with a sun chair. His wife informed him he couldn’t reserve pitches but he ignored her. As the site filled into the afternoon and more and more pitches got taken we could see people driving past the ‘reserved’ pitch. Eventually a warden arrived and very politely explained that reserving pitches was not allowed. The gentleman argued his point, it was for his daughter, then moved the chairs and threw them on the ground. As the warden walked away he shook his fist aggressively. We were shocked at such uncalled for behaviour but to make matters worse, that evening when daughter arrived her dad gave his side of the story and proceeded to blame the people who finally got the pitch calling them rather un tasteful names at the top of his voice. We decided not to complain as if you are going to be so ignorant at this age there is no Hope. Bad form sir and shame on you! A big well done though to the Warden who dealt with this perfectly. You guys do a great job to ensure our stay at Caravan and Motorhome Club sites are consistently good and do not deserve this type of behaviour even if it was behind your back.
Avoid the play area and take blocks
Great site. Amazing staff, so helpful. It is a great location to explore the Lake District. Take blocks with you as some pitches are very uneven, The site does have some but better to be prepared.
If you don’t have children avoid the pitches near the play area, very noisy.
The walk to Grange is easy and very enjoyable. The hotel near the site serves very good food and is extremely Covid aware.
Lovely site. A few hints and tips for wheelchair users
A lovely campsite with lovely warm welcoming wardens. Having just come a camping and caravaning site and not being spoken to by the wardens for the whole 6 days we were there is was very welcome and the difference in both standards and customer service was extremely noticeable. The sites nice and quite and great for families. A few hints and tips for wheelchair users. It's a little hilly so I would suggest booking either a serviced pitch or a standard pitch without awning as these are the flattest. In my opinion the hills aren't to bad and even pushing up from the plat park wasn't a problem. Easy access to a number of attractions in the area. The steam train, boat and motor museum all wheelchair accessible. We look forward to returning soon.
Little Gem
Decided to book this site on a last minute basis as our neighbour was have work done to his driveway. Managed to book a hard standing pitch on the Tuesday morning to arrive in the afternoon (we don’t live far away). Set off to arrive between 4pm and 5pm but unfortunately there had been an accident and the main road was closed, so we had to divert round via Windermere which meant it was really busy. The wardens from the site tried to call but I unfortunately missed the call. We arrived about 6.30pm but despite the late arrival one of the wardens came out and opened up the office so we could get our pitch. The warden suggested a couple of pitches that were free but as my wife is a wheelchair user we decided to go on the tarmac area. The pitch was easy to get to and level. This is a lovely little site with good views, nice clean toilets, two good dog walking areas. The access road is not too bad and the fact that there is no barrier at the entrance didn’t seem to be an issue. The Woodlands hotel next door is very good for food and drinks and not too bad a walk ( I managed it pushing my wife in a wheelchair with the dog as well). Would definitely return to this site.
