Excellent in every way as usual

This is one of our favorite sights, sadly only a short visit to see family not seen for few months. Spotless as usual, we went on newly gravelled area lower terrace of tarmac area. We were really impressed by the little garden display that lite up at night. Not sure if this was club initiative or wardens idea but lovely touch. Hopefully not be long before we are back as only an hour from home.

Great site.

Recently spent a week at Meathop, mixed weather, high winds, rain and sun. Thoroughly enjoyed it, everywhere very well kept thanks to the wardens. Grange is a lovely little town with plenty of small shops and cafes, and a promenade for a good bracing walk. The site office includes a little shop with a good selection of basics which is handy. There are also two little paddocks well fenced for off lead running for dogs. Good place to go.

Lovely Site, helpful staff

We have visited this site before and decided to try out our new Adria Adora Seine caravan on its maiden journey for a 3 night stay. It is always kept beautifully clean and tidy. Staff are friendly and helpful. Its location is everything for us Grange, Bowness, Kendal and Cartmel are not too far away and worth visiting especially the butcher's in Grange the pies are delicious! We had an unexpected and upsetting issue with the caravan on arrival at the site and found Ed the site warden to be very helpful and assisted us to sort the problem out which was promptly attended to the following day by Carnforth Caravans & Transport Ltd who fixed the problem quickly at a very reasonable cost will use for future needs.

We loved it so much, we went again!

We went here on the 14th Feb 2022 and had 2 nights. From getting there to leaving, we loved it. lovely large pitches, lovely, helpful and friendly staff and exceptionally clean and tidy. There is also a very nice dog walking area where your dog can be off the lead, really usefulwhen you have a Springer Spaniel! We enjoyed our stay and the area so much we returned the following weekend for another 2 nights. We recommend a walk into Grange-Over-Sands and then a train to the lovely Arnside for a walk on the beach. The train ride is only 6 minutes but it crosses the Kent Estuary and is very picturesque. We walked up Arnside Knott which gives superb views of the area. Another good walk is the one from Grange to The Hampsfell Hospice, lovely 360 degree views.

Overall we highly recommend this site and staff.

Lovely, peaseful site but a few niggles

We stayed for 4 nights in our 6m motorhome. The country road leading to the site is narrow in places with quite a steep sharp left incline which you have to make a good run at! This is followed by another sharp steep left into the site. The site is lovely and very well laid out with high and low areas, nice views across the bay and a very good information room from where you can borrow DVDs. The shower block is very nice and spotlessly clean, however there was no heating for most of our stay which made for very chilly showers. The directory states sloping pitches but we were surprised just how sloping they were. Despite a our best efforts using our levellers we sloped quite sharply to the front and also sideways as well which didn’t make for comfort. We visited Grange over Sands and Kendal using the excellent X6 bus. This stops at the top of the country road, a 15 minute walk from the site, make sure you have a torch if returning after dark as it is pitch black! We also nipped over to Arnside on the train, a lovely little place with nice walks along the prom, a good chip shop and a couple of nice pubs. We enjoyed our stay but doubt we’d return, and will be purchasing much bigger levellers!

Lovely site but a couple of niggles!

We stayed for 4 nights in our 6m motorhome. The country road which is a very sharp left from the main A590 roundabout, is tight in places and you need to thrust up the very steep incline. This incline is followed by a another sharp left followed by another steep hill to the entrance of the site. We arrived a bit early but staff were swift in getting units booked in. Our site map showed quite a few areas were not available so we drove round and picked a pitch with a reasonable view. The directory did state that there was some sloping but we were surprised just how undulating our pitch was. We tried several parking positions to level out, but it was obvious we’d need our levellers. These didn’t make much difference as not only were we sloping forward but also to the side too! This was not conducive to a goodnight’s sleep as we felt we were going head first to the side of our van. The site itself is lovely, very well laid out with dry stone walls and lovely views over the bay and beyond. Shower block/toilets were impressive and very clean, however while we were there there was no heating in the showers which was quite chilly! The country road you drive down to the site, takes about 15 minutes to walk back to the road where there is a concrete bus shelter. From here you can get the excellent X6 bus either into Grange over Sands/Ulverston or cross over the road to get the bus to Kendal. We enjoyed our stay, it’s made us realise we need higher levellers!

Never disappoints

We have been to this many times in both a caravan and our current motorhome. It is always kept beautifully clean and tidy. Staff are friendly and helpful. Its location is everything for us because we go walking along the marshes at least once in every visit. Grange, Kendal and Cartmel are not too far away and worth visiting. One thing that surprised me this time was the lack of heating in the mens shower block, particularly when it was at the coldest part of winter?

Immaculate

3 night break here in our motorhome last weekend. We did 2 walks from site, one into Grange - easy flat 3 miles one way - excellent cafes and promenade, one circular 10 mile route heading east along the estuary and looping back on the cycle route. We don't normally comment on facilities, but absolutely spotless at all times of day, a real credit to the team at Meathop, and even the grounds were maintained beautifully. Nice people too! Definitely recommend for a short break in large M/home, or longer break with off-site transport.

A lovely Lakeland site

This is a lovely site, open and spacious and plenty to do in the area. We chose to pitch at the bottom on pitch no 84 to take advantage the views. Newly refurbished shower block. It was a shame that the local road into Grange was flooded, but we will return in the spring when we know we can walk in. However there are plenty of car parks in Grange, a lovely town with a two mile walk along the prom with great views. We also drove to Cartmel, 3 miles away and had a lovely walk and stroll around the village. It’s about a 10 minute drive to the beginning of Lake Windermere, we stopped in Bowness and the drove back via Conniston. One of the highlights of our stay was being able to walk to Woodlands hotel for our evening meal. Reasonably priced good food, we ate in the Conservatory. Take a torch as the lane is dark, but great for star gazing! Also a large enclosed dog walk, always a bonus and a lovely adventure playground for children. Have to say we preferred this site to Kendal.

Quiet site (almost)

Lovely site and will visit again. However, as we were there late December wthere were few walks from the site. A drive to Arnside was well worth it and there is always Grange within easy driving distance. Two problems - central heating in shower block wasn't working (not good in December) and we were pitched (Pitch 15) near an electricity sub-satation the roof of which sounded like a bass drum as rain fell on it! Most disturbing. We'll definitely come back, but probably when it's not raining.
