Clean, peaceful and near to things to do.

Very enjoyable holiday. The campsite is neat and tidy, also peaceful. I like the area we were in which was for smaller vans which attracts older , quieter people. The water station was easily accessible and always tidy. The size of the pitch was generous. The wardens were helpful and available. I like the 1pm arrival time too.

Excellent

Arrived meathop fell for the first visit ever. Very friendly lady warden booked us in. It’s along time since I’ve seen a club site that is as beautiful and well looked after. Love all the quirky features. The mushrooms the lights round trees. Every little section of the site was so well landscaped and the dedication of maintaining it is visible everywhere. Toilets immaculate and showers with plenty hot water. Pizza van on site at weekend and lovely meals at the hotel 10 mins from site. Grange over sand is lovely with a lovely promenade to walk. Lots of cycling routs. Best ever club site ever. Only one downside is caravaners are needing to learn etiquette and don’t cut across someone’s pitch. Sitting in van and their strolling passed the windows taking short cuts. . Would return to this site.

Perfect for South Lakes

Great site easy to find in good location. Some pitches slope front to back and side so blocks may be needed. The wardens we met were great and very helpful. Both the site and the block were spotless. Hotel with public bar close by which we used for drinks one day and was ideal. The walk to Grange was along a very quiet road (2 miles?) and well worth it a lovely small town with an excellent promenade. Handy for driving to Windermere, Coniston etc. and the local Steam railway a good attraction. Definitely will return soon but will stay for a week this time.

Been some years since we visited....and its even better

High praise has to go to the Wardens, nothing is too much trouble and the guys are incredibly helpful. They keep the site spotless and incredibly maintained. The site itself is well spaced out and is well set out, with clearly a lot of improvements having been made to the pitches. Toilet/shower block facility is as expected, spotless. The site is also wonderfully quiet, both during the day, and especially at night. If you like walking there is miles of it just outside the gate, Grange is a steady 40 minutes walk to get to the station. Next to the site is the Woodlands Hotel which is a great place for a meal, drink (or a warm up by the fire on a cold evening...) Love this site to 'chill', as it is so peaceful and a bit 'tucked out the way' and thats what we want on a 'chill visit'.

Marvellous Meathop

We stayed here for the first time 11th April 2022 and was not disappointed. The site is spacious and clean. The wardens are constantly busy but so helpful and approachable. We had a lovely view across to the estuary. We did 2 of the recommended works. It’s an easy walk into grange over sands. The pizza van is there over the weekend and the pizzas were delicious Toilets and shower blocks very clean Two dog enclosures fenced off so that’s great for those of us with dogs. We will definitely be back to this site.

Our first Club Site visit

We are fist time Motorhomers and we could not have wished for a better start. All the wardens were helpful, ensuring we were ok on our pitch and we were familiar with how everything works, choosing a pitch and the facilities etc. The site was beautiful and peaceful and exceeded our expectations, all facilities were spotless and the information hut a great addition. We enjoyed the area, Grange Over Sands and I train over to Arnside a very pleasant afternoon. We will be back again.

A Great Week

Just returned from a great week here with our Grandkids, site was well kept and looked after, all facilities were very clean. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday they had woodfired pizza van on site. Greta views from a few pitches on site but it is close to Grange over Sands and a lot more in the lower lakes. I recommend that you do not arrive early as you will not be allowed in but you will block the entrance and road to the site, the wardens were very quick at getting people booked in so no worries. Woodland Hotel just up the road from site and the food was good and fresh. Highly recommended.

Disappointed

The heating was off in the shower block which seems to be an reoccurring problem. Also lack of hot water in the showers. Owners with dogs should be given clear instructions on arrival that their dog must be kept on a lead at all times. There was a number of instances of dog mess around the site. Both mornings we woke up to dog mess outside our motorhome which we know was not our puppy. Dog in the laundry room. Sad Because overall lovely location and great staff.

Chilled & Restful

Had 5 nights at Meathop. First time to this site. Family of 3 - 2 adults & our 12 year old Son. Relaxing, quiet site. We didn't use the communal shower block but from what we saw from the rest of the site, very well kept & wardens clearly work hard. Poor signage on exit. We thought we had gone the wrong way...asked a warden & we got told that "everyone makes the same mistake & we get asked a lot where the exit is". If that's the case, sort the signage & Road markings out! Obviously if you know this site well, not an issue. Well placed to drive to nearby towns/villages but other than Grange over Sands, nothing else within easy walking distance. Our Son loved the site for cycling. There is also a small play area that would suit younger kids.

So good, we went again the following weekend!

This is a brilliant site. Great position, immaculately clean, lovely helpful staff and really nice pitches. Some of the pitches are more level than others but nothing major. There is also a great dog walking area where your pet can be let off the lead. You have Grange-over-Sands, Silverdale, Arnside and Cartmel close by so there is plenty to do. If you like walking we highly recommend a walk to Grange and then a train to Arnside where you can just enjoy the tranquility or climb Arnside Knott. We will certainly return quite soon.
