We have just returned from having one of the nicest holidays ever. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The facilities were spotless. We were given lots of local knowledge on where to go around the area. The site was very peaceful and well laid out with grassy areas and trees. This caravan site is an excellent base to explore the lake district, and nearby Grange over Sands is a beautiful well kept little town with a stunning landscaped award winning walkway along the shore which leads to a lovely park with a pond filled with all sorts of water birds. There is a little wood off the site to walk dogs but small dogs could sneak through the fence onto a country lane. However there is a public footpath just along the road to take dogs so long as you clean up after them. We will definitely return to this caravan park in the future.
Another excellent site, very well maintained by hard working wardens who know the value of a smile and friendly chat. Will return again and enjoy the peace and solitude and lovely open country wide views from well laid out pitches.
Let me start by saying that the staff at the site are first rate and extremely helpful, couldn't wish for better. However, if like my wife you are disabled and either require crutches or a wheelchair, this site may have it's challenges. There are very few areas of the site which are level and a walk to the only toilet block is uphill from most pitches. The disabled facility is furthest away from reception and the emergency chord does not alert anyone in reception as my wife found out.
It says there is a dog walk nearby, well the walk is a man made path through woods and not really a dog walk at all.
Overall, the site is well laid out and the facilities are very clean but it is just a little too far out to walk and it isn't ideal for those with walking difficulties.
We have 30 years of Camping experience and this is only our second time out with our caravan. If this is the standard of the Caravan Club sites then we are looking forward to many more visits. On arrival the welcome we received from the wardens was great and helpful. Choice of pitches available. .. The facilities eg toilet block etc are so modern and clean it just said we love our site and hope you will to. Will defo be returning soon .. Thank you.
I stayed for the first time at Meathop Fell with my dog in March. The weather was fine but windy but the site and fellow vanners were great, helping me to take the awning down and offers to help put it up in the first place. The Woodlands Hotel staff were friendly and the food excellent.
The location is easy to find, handy for the Southern Lakes and made for a good start to my year.
The wardens were very helpful when my arrival was delayed and work hard to keep all the facilities looking fabulous.
I look forward to staying here again and can recommend it unreservedly.
The site is immaculate and a credit to the wardens. The pitches are generous and there is a sense of space. We had a lovely view over the estuary. There are lots of opportunities for touring around the Lakes and Arnside.
My only gripe is that there is little opportunity to let the dog off the lead as there are few dog walks apart from walking on tarmac.
Just spent an extended Easter weekend at Meathop. The site is a credit to the wardens and team, site itself is very well kept and the toilet block looks like it should be in a hotel it is so clean and neat. Nearby is the woodlands hotel which has a bar and resteraunt open to non residents
Down side, WiFi , yet again the Wi-fi was not working properly ( due to line fault) , yet another let down by the club , we have yet to visit a club site where it works properly
Come on Caravan Club either sort it out or include in the pitch. Fees but don't charge £2.50 per day for a service you are not able to deliver
Decided to use Meathop Fell for the first trip this year as it is less than an hour from home and was good last year. The facilities are excellent, the staff pleasant and helpful and the site easy to access apart from bottoming out on the hill! As others have stated, £27:00 a night is a high price to pay just for a pitch and when the weather is as bad as it was for us, March 20th, one doesn't venture out to the local pub.
Stiil, a pleasant stay at a very well run site.
This was our first proper trip and we were behind schedule which made us late and it was dark. .The staff were really helpful and got us pitched as soon as possible. The site is spotlessly clean and in a lovely location. Dog friendly pub and nice to walk around the area (despite the rain). I was worried about the reviews stating the access road was difficult but there are plenty passing places and the incline isn't too bad. Will be back soon.
