Second visit in winter

This is, in my opinion, an excellent site. A friendly welcome awaited me and the location; just a few miles from Grange Over Sands and the Lake District is superb. The facilities were modern and clean with plenty of hot water for showering! The one local pub/ restaurant, which is probably a 5 minute stroll away is dog friendly and so I returned later on in the evening to savour their steak  ...  Delicious and cooked exactly to my liking!

Shortbreak

Second visit to this site but the first at this time of year. The site was still tidy and washroom facilities up to usual standard. Meathop Fell is a very pleasant and peaceful site to visit with the added bonus of the nearby lakes, will certainly visit again.

1st Trip in 2015

Returning to Meathop in Feb was superb, booked in no worries and the site was full due to it being on the back end of a school holiday.Ourselves and 2 x friends managed to get near to each other yet it was a bit weird why the site doesn't allow awnings on the 1st pitches on the right when entering the site as it seemed like there was more than enough space.Anyway it was as it always is lovely quiet and peaceful,we stopped on till 3pm at no extra cost and left just after 3 as per the wardens request, this is to stop traffic jams and keep the traffic down to a minimum when passing the houses on the steep brow.A bit of good advice when leaving the site and just before you pass the cottage on the left have a look to your left in front of the cottage towards the long bumpy road that leads to the bypass, this will allow you to see if there are any vans coming to the site and allow you to let them through without causing a jam. Hope this is helpful and "Happy Days".JATABB

Excellent site

My girlfriend and I had spent the afternoon quad biking in Kendal. So as you can imagine, very dirty and muddy.  On our arrival at this site,we were greeted by Norman, who is one of the wardens. He was very helpful. It was no problem for us to leave our motorhome on arrivals car park while we had a walk around the site,to see where we would pitch. As we were only staying the one night and I wanted a pitch that wasn't sloping. So after we found a suitable pitch,we then got ourselves parked up. I asked Norman was there anywhere we could eat? He told us about the woodlands hotel. (5 mins walk from the site) Nothing was to much trouble for him. He even phoned the restaurant while we were there and booked a table for my girlfriend and I.  Even though food was a bit pricey I couldn't fault it. Shower block and toilets were spotless. Lovely site. Will definitely be returning here. We were made very welcome. Thank you.

Another fantastic stay

We have had our second visit and it is a lovely site. The approach is a little narrow at a couple of points but don't let it put you off I am a novice tower and I managed it. The staff are very polite and always on hand. The site was busy but you couldn't tell as there are lots of different areas for the caravans/motorhomes. The facilities are top notch, VERY clean and nice and warm too. Despite the site being busy we never waited once for a loo or shower. Lovely to walk around the site too. This is a lovely quiet site and we really enjoyed our stay A**

Lovely, family site

Our stay at Meathop Fell was our very first holiday in our caravan. Excellent, absolutely spotless facilities which were lovely and warm despite the freezing weather. Playground was great for our 3 children.

Top Notch Site

Been here many times, ideal for touring the Lakes & Lanks. Very friendly & helpful staff, the facilities are second to none. Very nice hotel up the road for food & dogs are allowed in the bar area.

Warm washrooms, chilly welcome.

Our third visit to this site, which is peaceful and has great facilities. The main honeypots of the Lake District are quite a drive away, but there are some interesting places nearer, such as Grange, Cartmel and Kendal.  Sadly, the curse of the Caravan Club struck again, when our welcome was the usual tepid affair - WHY can't the club provide some hospitality training for their wardens so they know how to greet visitors with some warmth and enthusiasm? Budget hotel chains can do it, so what prevents the Caravan Club from at least trying to get their wardens to pretend to be pleased to see visitors?  There are of course exceptions to this rule - step forward the lovely wardens at Battle last Summer. Perhaps Gordon and Co could be recruited to teach their fellow wardens how to do it?

Great site to visit

This was our first visit to a club site and we were very impressed with the standard of the facilities.  The site was very clean and well set out. Our children loved the play park. The staff were also very helpful and lent me a  couple of hosepipe atattachments that I had forgotten. A great site.
