One week later and we did return. We enjoyed our stay just as much as the first time. Coming again in a fortnight and bringing my younger daughter. Can't wait. I can throughly recommend the site to anyone.
Midweek in February
We had a 2 night stay in the last week of February. We've visited before in the low season and found it very quiet once more. We arrived just after noon to find the reception closed with instructions to find a pitch and book in the next day. The pitches are well spaced and the toilet block spotless and cosy. The next day I checked in to reception and met the friendly wardens. Computer problems had led to the closure while they visited a neighbouring CC site to upload the week's data. A great walk into Grange in the winter sunshine, about 3 miles each way. Never visited when the site has been busy so can't comment on that, but out of season it is a peaceful haven and less than 60 miles from home
First timers anywhere!
This was our first time staying on any site anywhere, since we had only bought our motorhome just before Christmas. Meathop was our first choice, being the closest to home and we were staying for only one night, in February, just to try everything out. Unfortunately, us novices arrived shortly after the site's computer system had gone down and we were largely left to our own devices. We were recommended to chose an upper, more level site, but had no problems setting up. The toilet and shower facilities were spacious and very clean and the site pleasant and very quiet. Next morning the staff were apologetic about our arrival experience and very helpful with our checkout. We enjoyed the two days so much that we booked the same again for the following week when we got home. We want to explore more.
excellent site
Our first time to Meathop staying in February. The toilet and shower facilities were spacious and very clean, which was so appreciated. The site is partitioned off into areas that allow the play ground to be away from half the site, so no noise!! Reception sells immediate-need basics such as milk and bread etc., also wonderful Cumberland sausages, which are absolutely delicious.
We will be back in late March, when most of the local tourist attractions are open by then. But, thank you Meathop staff for a very easy stay.

Great Feb Half Term break
Great site for kids (but those who want quieter pitches can find them away from the play area). Usual high quality CC facilities - toilets and showers excellent and very warm on the cold crisp evenings and nights. Just one thing - why need for toilet/shower access keys? (frustrating if forgotten etc., and not sure if really needed). Local area fantastic, and it has all you need. The prom is a must with great play area and activities for kids. Had great weather which made the views even better.
One thing to watch - the approach to the site includes a steep sharp incline which has to be taken carefully to avoid the back end catching. And spoke to other caravanner whose Van struggled up and needed assistance.
Other than that, great site and will go back without hesitation.
7th Visit to Meathop Fell
Facilities are consistently excellent, a lovely peaceful environment and a great place to stay. Wooden blocks are provided for uneven pitches. The wardens have been very helpful on all our visits, however on the last seemed a little stressed during check-in...
The toilet block is always very clean and warm, and the information Centre has plenty of free leaflets!.
Hope to stay again soon :)

Another fantastic visit
Just returned from our 3rd trip to this greath little gem of a site. This was the busiest it has ever been but you dont feel on top of each other. Wardens are great and the facilities are second to non. The area is beautiful and lots to explore if you want to drive or walk. Will definitely be back.
Meathop Fell
Just returned from our first visit to Meathop Fell, we loved this site. The location is great the wardens were very friendly & helpful, the shower block warm & spotless. the area itself is great for the south lakes & Grange over Sands has a lovely old fashioned feel to it, has a great butchers shop & two chocolate shops! We can't wait to return.

Mid-week break
Just returned from a lovely break at Meathop Fell. Wardens were friendly and helpful and the facilities were great (clean, warm etc). Enjoyed the walk into Grange but not too sure about 'wading' through the water by the golf course - wellies definitely recommended.

January 2016
Lovely campsite and helpful staff. Facilities are superb - clean, warm (it was minus 5 when we stayed) and well well appointed. Great situation for touring the southern lakes and very easy to get to from the M6. Will definitely be back!
