What a site!!! Perfect in every way

I look back with nothing but fondness and a smile on my face about our first visit to this site last October 2015, the site is so easy to get to, being only a few miles of the M6 with easy access via dual charge way and only single carriage way for the last couple of mile. There are plenty of passing points for other vehicles and as long as your not stressed by the normal Friday afternoon on the M6, you will very soon relax as you drive closer to the site. Upon arrival the wardens are always welcoming and friendly. This is simply the most perfect base for visiting the south Lake District including Morecombe. Every pitch provides a different scene which is even more special with the warm autumn colours which nature greatly provides use with. Facilities are within easy access of all the pitches, but please be mindful that the site is on a gentle slope down from the main reception, however I did notice some specific disabled pitches. Do not let the slope put you off the pitches themselves are mixture of hard standing and grass and level. We chose a perfect pitch for us at the bottom of the site under an amazingly colourful tree (pitch 82). An amazing four night visit was had taking in the surrounding areas including, Ambleside, Grange-over-sands and Morecombe to name a few. Looking forward to our return visit this year October 2016. Would highly recommended for all Caravans...

Lovely few days at Meathop

We had a five night stay at Meathop. Haven't visited for a few years.  Still a lovely site. Spacious pitches, pristine toilet block, helpful Wardens.  The weather was not great, but did not spoil our enjoyment of this lovely area. Drove through the Lythe Valley and saw the damson trees in full blossom. Grange is quite an elegant place to visit, and had a really good day out at the Leighton Moss RSPB Reserve.  Our walk around Tarn Howes in the snow was bracing, but beautiful. Plenty of reasons to return to this site.

Brilliant site

We've just spent our first weekend at Meathop fell site and I wish we'd found it earlier. With 2 young boys we found a cracking pitch right opposite the play park. The site is really well laid out with pockets of pitches so you don't feel overlooked or hemmed in. The shower block is amazing with lots of toilets and showers so no queuing in the mornings and the size of the cubicles is the largest we've come across so far. The site is also close to lots of attractions such as the Haverthwaite railway & lake cruises, south lakes zoo and the lovely village of Kendal to name but a few. The only thing wrong with this weekend was the rain....but I'm not sure even the best sites can do much about that??

Meathop Fell

Easy to find, well located. Most pitches good. Wi Fi signal not good. I have paid for the year and so far the CC Wi Fi is not good enough. At Malvern I could not get on it yet still charged.

Not as good as in the past

Excellent toilet facilities staff very pleasant.  However we have been going to this site for twenty years approx. And the actual upkeep of the grounds over the past three years have been going down hill.  The pitches look very untidy also the July prices have made us decide to go elsewhere.

Everything you need

Stayed here for 11 nights in March 2016. We were met by friendly, helpful staff who made us feel very welcome and we were offered spaces close to the ablutions and on hardstanding which is a relief when touring in a motorhome especially after so much rain. Thanks to the wardens (who's names I forgot to get, sorry) the start to our trip in the lakes was as good as it gets. The facilities were lovely and warm and kept spotlessly clean (I just love this bit about the CC sites). Hubster and myself use the disabled ablutions and they could not be faulted. The water pressure is great, the water lovely and warm and the room kept just at the right temperature considering it was still quite cold outside. We used the well equipped laundry on site. I must say having two washing machines and two tumble dryers is a great help. Being slightly slow in my chores of laundry (and I tend to save it up until I have 4 loads to do) I get myself into a bit of a tizz when there is only one machine as I don't like holding other users up. They are expensive to use but they wash and dry well and as we all know, until they start making self-cleaning clothes laundry must be done and I for one would rather have the convenience of doing it on-site. The site is well laid out on several levels. The access road is narrow and steep but not as scary as it first looks. The service areas and site are kept neat and tidy and the site is a pleasure to stay at. We will be back when up that way again. Many thanks to all involved. Regards Jules & Bill

great location overlooking the estuary

Our first time at Meathop Fell however we found the site very clean and wardens welcoming and helpful. the site has a mixture of 'green' pitches amongst the trees and open pitches over looking the estuary and Morecambe bay , we opted for an open areaq away from the trees as our week was dogged by persistent rain . Facilities very clean and site overall very well maintained. Good for our 11 year old children who enjoyes cycling on the site and the play area . Good access to South Lakeland and Lancashire in general. the only disappointment was the weather but I dont think the wardens can be blamed for that !!
