Just spent a nice Easter break at this site. Wardens friendly and efficient and keep everything in good order, very spick and span.
Access to the site is steep and winding at one point but is worth the hairy few moments once you are past them and on site.
Site location is very good for visits to many places in the South Lakes.
We only had time to visit Kendal and Grange over Sands on the Sat and Sunday. Unfortunately the excellent fish n chip shop at G -o-S recommended to us was closed on the Sunday.
On our arrival day Friday, we stayed on site and had a walk round to the Woodlands Hotel for an early evening meal.
The service was very good but food a tad expensive for what it was I thought. I'd probably go again but choose something like the fish and chips or similar rather than the peppered steak (which was very chewy for the £18 price) with hindsight the F&C looked better value for money at about £7 cheaper if my memory serves me right.
We have booked to stay on this site again in the summer but will bring a car as that will make travelling around the South Lakes a little less challenging than in the larger motorhome.
We stayed here a few years ago and enjoyed that stay just as much but I was probably to lazy to review it.
One concern I do have is that there are quite a lot of trees which will be in full leaf by then.
I just hope this doesn't become akin to Park Coppice where we stayed there once but never again as the trees just cover the site so much that in certain areas you feel like you are staying in a forest which makes it very dark and gloomy.
At Meathop Fell there are so many lovely views it would be such a shame to hide them.
Aware of the problems with the WiFi we ensured we had brought along our own portable dongle. Both that and our phones are on 3 network and the connection was excellent.
Thank you Caravan Club and the current team at Meathop Fell for providing us members with such a lovely well kept site to stay on.
MY FAVOURITE SITE
Have been several times, great site for me as a fly fisherman and probably the best fish n chips in nearby Grange over sands your ever going to taste.
Just a shame about the wifi, i hope they can sort that out.

Lovely Location & well kept site
Friendly wardens, very clean, well kept site. Plenty of walks from the site though some road walking necessary. Lack of public transport means that to go further afield own transport necessary. Cartmel is worth a visit via footpaths (map necessary) & Grange also within striking distance. The wifi reception was extremely poor, to the point that it was unusable, sign in took 5+ minutes then I was unable to access simple web pages. Spoke to AirAngel who told me that they were aware of an issue & were investigating with BT but I got the impression from reception that this has been a problem for some time. This and lack of public transport nearby were only downsides & notwithstanding these I would definitely go back.
Don't drive by Meathop:
For many years, we've driven by Meathop (usually on our way to Park Coppice) - and it's a mistake! On the edge of the Lake District it is perfectly placed for all the usual tourist destinations, but also opens up opportunities on the Morecombe Bay coastline and the much quieter Western Lakes.
Although easily accessible from the M6, other reviewers have commented on a slightly awkward approach to the site - but taken at a steady pace, we weren't challenged unduly. After a bit of levelling, we enjoyed a partial view of the coast across open fields from our pitch.
So don't drive by... Pay Meathop a visit and be rewarded with a great site in a quiet location.
Frosty reception
After a frosty reception due to us arriving early (even though the site was pretty empty) it wasn't a bad site. Toilets were clean and tidy and very warm, Nice walk to the estuary where we saw some red deer in the woods at the estuary which was very pleasant. Not sure if there is enough to do for a family but great for a stop over if your traveling to Scotland as we were.
A great couple of days at Meathop Fell
This visit was just for a couple of days whilst on our way to Scotland. The welcome as at all club sites was friendly and pleasant. Our pitch was just a few yards from the amenity block, which was very clean and tidy and in good condition. The views from the site are great. The Lakeland mountains in one direction and the Pennines in the other with one of the Morecambe Bay inlets at Arnside in the foreground. The site is a great base for exploring the southern lakes and north Lancashire. We'll have to make a return visit to the site, because there's so much to see.
Highly recommended. Wifi connection mediocre. RJP

Quiet week!
We stayed here for 4 nights and would definitely return. The welcome was pleasant, friendly and efficient. The site is very peaceful and is in a great location which is easy to find. As we do all our ablutions on board we didn't check out the facilities so can't comment on them.
If, like me, you're not the greatest at reversing you may find some of the pitches a bit tight to back into so get some practice in.
A Great Experience
We stayed at Meathop Fell for two nights. It is a beautiful site and very well maintained. The facilities were excellent and the toilet block was spotless. The Warden was very helpful and made it easy for us as first time users of a Caravan Club site. Our visit was short as we went there to celebrate the birthday of an aged aunt in Grange Over Sands. Having experienced the site however we would very much like to return in the summer as it is a great location to visit the Southern Lake District. Congratulations and thanks to Meath Fell Warden for making it such a great experience.

Away from it all!
This is a lovely site; a great location for the Lake District with beautiful views from the top pitches The warden was friendly and the facilities excellent. The Woodlands Hotel nearby serves lovely food & the bar is comfortable for a quiet drink (dogs welcome in the bar). There are lots of good places round about for a day out. We would recommend the Motor Museum which is very nostalgic if you were born in the fifties or sixties ( dogs allowed in here too). The weather was pretty awful when we were there, rain, gales & even snow but we had a great time and will definitely visit again.

lovely site
Visited last week for a few days. pleasant welcome from the warden ( still having trouble with the computer!). Lovely site, very tidy. It's a few years since we last visited Meathop Fell, and again it didn't disappoint. Enjoyed the walk to Grange and along the little lanes from the site.
