Disappointed

Having had a long journey, we arrived and checked in ... the check in was rushed and we were told only grass pitches were available. We were left at the barrier waiting for some considerable time, we had to go back to reception and ask them to open the barrier! ... I had been the only person checking in, so not down to dealing with another check in. We managed to locate a spot, but totally unsuitable as one of us has a disability, and we have dogs ... ground muddy and uneven, we won't be able to put up awning, and won't be able to secure dogs or tie up outside without risk of them annoying the motor home we are immediately behind. Sadly the pictures on the website do not reflect the actual site, if you are expecting tree-lined rows, forget it,those trees appear to have been replaced by ranch fencing which now acts as a barrier for back to back pitches. It is unlikely we will be staying here for long unless a hard standing pitch becomes available in the next day or so. First impressions are not great :-(

Return visit

This visit was slightly different to the previous one only a couple of months before. It was certainly quieter, probably because children have gone back to school. The camp was full, and due to a misunderstanding when making the booking, we weren’t given the choice of pitches. On our previous visit we had to go looking for a pitch and then return to the office with the chosen pitch number. Maybe staff were having a bad day when we arrived, they were a bit stern and not very understanding. It probably hasn’t put us off going there again though.

Great weeks stay

First time visiting this site and the area. Nice site although we were unable to get on a flat gravel pitch as they were either all taken or had a warden allocated sign on the pitch?? Not sure what that means. Our grass pitch was ok but site is on a hill so you need to level your unit. The toilet block had plenty of showers and was never full which was a bonus. It would have been good to have hairdryers away from the communal basins as they were just in the way there. There’s a bus stop outside the site to Looe, Polperro which we used. Cheaper to get a return than a single ticket. Buses not always on time and limited on Sunday’s. We came home by taxi a couple of times. Some good places to eat in Looe but booking essential during peak times and weekends. Great chippy near site called coddy shack which we used once. Great location for visiting the area. We walked into Looe from site once and along coastal path ( there are several routes which site provided). it took about half an hour, road is busy but there are footpaths. Cannot hear road from site. Pool was closed but there is crazy golf, tennis courts and a fog walk. Very enjoyable stay and we will be visiting again but not during school holidays as it would be too busy for us.

Location of this site was spot on for us, as we enjoy walking.

My husband and I stayed her for 5 nights starting on bank holiday Monday. The site was full but surprisingly peaceful, we were on the gravel pitches at the bottom of the site. The site next door has a very well stocked shop that we were able to use so that was helpful. There are numerous routes to walk into Looe but has a previous reviewer has pointed out, Looe is extremely hilly & walking back to the site is a challenge. There is a bus stop outside the site & there were plenty of taxis in Looe. I did not see any seagulls on site but the site has plenty of crows which come alive at dusk until it goes dark, interesting watching them though. Travelling pizza van was delicious & so was the ice cream van. Milendraeth beach is a mile walk down from the site but quite a gradient on the way back. The beach bar there is nice but only sells drinks. In the town the fisherman’s arms was a friendly pub, again no food served though & the golden guinea pub has a pleasant beer garden with lovely food. We visited polperro which was very busy & also walked the coastal path to Seaton. Where we along with 4 others were stranded as the bus only went to the car park and didn’t come to the bus stop, so beware. We ended up sharing a taxi back which was not cheap. Site was clean, wardens friendly & we will definitely go back.

Lovely site - staff excellent - always happy, polite and approachable

Went with Grandkids - thoroughly enjoyed the stay even though the swimming pool was closed. The bus trip into and back from Looe was painless. Looe itself was lovely with a great beach and lots of "crabbing" which the kids really enjoyed Showers on site were excellent with the toilet blocks always clean whenever we went into them. Crazy golf course was in terrible condition but as it was free I wouldn't down mark the site for this, as again we had a great time going around it (with grandkids it was hardly competitive lol) Overall a great experience helped by some great weather

Great stay

Just returned from a weeks stay at Looe. Lovely warm and friendly welcome from the wardens. Great site, although would have preferred the Pool to be open as the weather was gorgeous. As always facilities were spotless. Big shout out to the lovely lady warden who helped with our Tesco delivery as the site don’t allow online supermarket shopping. Thank you πŸ™ Prepare yourself for the Crows at dusk!

Excellent

Really friendly, helpful Wardens. Facilities kept immaculately clean. Good walk into Looe along a busy road. Bus stop outside site. Lots of local taxis available. Pool shut on site but it does say on website As quite a distance from Looe, perhaps a better stocked shop and visiting food vendors could be considered. But overall an excellent stay most grass pitches are sloping, hardstanding pitches are huge great Atmosphere on site too πŸ‘

Slightly disappointing

Stayed here late august and found the staff friendly and site in good order. Access however is not good. It's a good 25 minutes to get to any coastal path in which you have to walk along very busy main roads. We had two dogs but I felt for anyone with children having to walk those roads. Yes there is a bus stop but just more cost. A good stay but shall not be returning.

Disappointing

This site was chosen due to the availability of the pool and I was extremely disappointed and annoyed that it was shut due to no lifeguards. We have stayed on many independent sites with no lifeguards and notices that use is at your own risk. Surely that would have been sufficient. Seemed to be just too difficult. Interesting that the pool on the site next door was open. IThe grass pitch we were on was not of the normal club size and most including ours were sloping. As we were in school holidays the site was very busy and there was not the normal club rules over walking over other peoples pitches and ball games. We felt the wardens were not keeping control of this kind of behaviour. On the plus side the visiting Pizza waggon and ice cream van were very good and a very steep walk of about a mile led to a lovely beach. The walking though to the beach and to Looe is very steep and not for the faint hearted although we did see the bus stop outside. Once again the pool being closed was what spoiled this holiday for me.

Aug 2021

We stayed at the site second week in Aug 2021. The site is very well situated close to Looe. The facilities were very clean and evenly placed around the site. One of the main reasons for us booking this site was the fact it had a swimming pool. With a family consisting of two young children this was a real plus for us. I must say I was extremely disappointed to hear that the swimming would be closed, due to being unable to hire life guards. I find this extremely hard to understand when the site next door was able to make arrangements in time and have sufficient enough lifeguards to allow their pool to open. To me this was poor planning and could have been avoided. Another option is for people using the pool to sign a disclaimer, using it at their own risk. Several families I spoke to shared the same view. Other than the pool disappointment we enjoyed our stay on the site.
