Great stay

Just returned from a weeks stay at Looe. Lovely warm and friendly welcome from the wardens. Great site, although would have preferred the Pool to be open as the weather was gorgeous. As always facilities were spotless. Big shout out to the lovely lady warden who helped with our Tesco delivery as the site don’t allow online supermarket shopping. Thank you 🙏 Prepare yourself for the Crows at dusk!

Excellent

Really friendly, helpful Wardens. Facilities kept immaculately clean. Good walk into Looe along a busy road. Bus stop outside site. Lots of local taxis available. Pool shut on site but it does say on website As quite a distance from Looe, perhaps a better stocked shop and visiting food vendors could be considered. But overall an excellent stay most grass pitches are sloping, hardstanding pitches are huge great Atmosphere on site too 👍

Slightly disappointing

Stayed here late august and found the staff friendly and site in good order. Access however is not good. It's a good 25 minutes to get to any coastal path in which you have to walk along very busy main roads. We had two dogs but I felt for anyone with children having to walk those roads. Yes there is a bus stop but just more cost. A good stay but shall not be returning.

Disappointing

This site was chosen due to the availability of the pool and I was extremely disappointed and annoyed that it was shut due to no lifeguards. We have stayed on many independent sites with no lifeguards and notices that use is at your own risk. Surely that would have been sufficient. Seemed to be just too difficult. Interesting that the pool on the site next door was open. IThe grass pitch we were on was not of the normal club size and most including ours were sloping. As we were in school holidays the site was very busy and there was not the normal club rules over walking over other peoples pitches and ball games. We felt the wardens were not keeping control of this kind of behaviour. On the plus side the visiting Pizza waggon and ice cream van were very good and a very steep walk of about a mile led to a lovely beach. The walking though to the beach and to Looe is very steep and not for the faint hearted although we did see the bus stop outside. Once again the pool being closed was what spoiled this holiday for me.

Aug 2021

We stayed at the site second week in Aug 2021. The site is very well situated close to Looe. The facilities were very clean and evenly placed around the site. One of the main reasons for us booking this site was the fact it had a swimming pool. With a family consisting of two young children this was a real plus for us. I must say I was extremely disappointed to hear that the swimming would be closed, due to being unable to hire life guards. I find this extremely hard to understand when the site next door was able to make arrangements in time and have sufficient enough lifeguards to allow their pool to open. To me this was poor planning and could have been avoided. Another option is for people using the pool to sign a disclaimer, using it at their own risk. Several families I spoke to shared the same view. Other than the pool disappointment we enjoyed our stay on the site.

Expensive but worth it?

Probably the warmest and most helpful welcome we could wish for despite arriving way too early. The wardens were most polite and accommodating. It’s school holidays so we expect a lot of children but the play area is to be avoided if you prefer peace. Facilities are fine and well maintained. We were allocated a pitch on arrival due to the length of our Moho and it does look like some pitches might be tight with longer units. Worth asking upon arrival. Very big site. Some food vans do serve the site most days. Walks into Looe are interesting. Some very steep and some longer ones less so. Buses run to and from the site or at least within a few hundred yards, but if there are a few of you a taxi is cheaper in and from Looe.. Buses passes are the way! Would we stay again? Yes. We are on holiday after all, despite the cost per night.

Only docked one star due to cost.

Excellent service

I can’t praise the staff enough, they went out of their way to help and accommodate us ,after I made an error and booked 2 types of pitch, consecutively, after adding a few onto our booking, and although the site was very full and busy, they managed to put us on a pitch, with no need to move, after a few days. The site is very close to Looe and Polperro, and nearby by Seaton and Downderry are worth a visit. We enjoyed the daily icecream van, there for 5hrs a day,and the pizzas are good, but only twice a week. Adrenaline park ,nearby is excellent for kids and adults.

May be more selective

We have just come back from Looe with are Motorhome and stayed for a week after moving down from Dorset. We chose a grass pitch as putting sleeping quarters up within our awning for heavily pregnant lady and partner. We chose opposite the toilet block for easy to get to for the pregnant lady. The site was noisy due to been full and dogs in cages in awning barking majority of the night. In the male showers someone had soiled on the floor and left it, another day someone soiled over the seat and left it. I found a syringe on the floor in the ladies block and people left rubbish bags out of the bins and the seagulls distributed all the food all over the pitches. I’m not sure if this is all down to the wardens but are the standards slipping with who they let on to the sites! The wardens were most great full when I informed them of some of the things. On the positive the crazy golf and tennis equipment were free.

Not over impressed.

Booking in was pleasant enough, no issues. Staff were friendly and helpful. The way the site is laid out doesn't really allow for much in the way of distance between you and those behind you, on the grass pitches anyway. It all felt a bit cramped and for larger caravans/motorhomes the pitches are going to be quite tight (front to back). There was plenty of evidence to suggest that it is difficult, when wet, to pitch up. It was very soft when we arrived and it hadn't rained for a bit. The road outside can be pretty busy so try to get down to the hardstandings for a more peaceful break, you'll get a better view too. The pool being shut was a disappointment, are lifeguards a legal requirement ? What happened to parents looking after their children!! Locally we thought that Polperro was nice but very disappointed with Looe. Its a long while since we have been there and we don't remember it being so grubby. The Bodmin Moor area was well worth a visit, beautiful views. Beachwise the nearest aren't sand, more a grit, but Seaton and Millendreath are quite safe bays with rock pools and a reasonable amount of car park space (worth getting the JUST PARK app in advance). We can't recommend any eateries really which was a shame, not that they were bad but nothing special either. Morrisons at Liskeard is 7 miles away thankfully. We were very lucky with the weather which helped as this site didn't quite do it for us.
