Another great Holiday in Looe

Just back from another great holiday this is our 2nd stay at Looe and it did not disappoint. I would just say that removing the squeegy mop from the showers was not your finest hour as on some occasions as the weather was not good the showers were muddy from the previous user. I don’t think Boris said take the squeegy out of the showers we are mopping the floors not ourselves 🤔 I agree with other reviews about the band system total waste of time people read the message and went in anyway if all 6 were in use I know because our pitch was right opposite and I watched them I also think you should have put on your website a lot earlier that the pool was not going to be open it is not just the kids that use it. Just a couple of gripes but it was still a good holiday and we will be back again

Nice Site, Helpful Staff

We stayed here for 3 nights early July. It’s a large site, with grass pitches on one half and hardstanding on the other half. We chose a hardstanding pitch which was in a great position for us. Not too far from the service point and shower block, grass behind the van where the dog could sit and we could sit in the sun. Perfect. There is also a dog walk on site, which is not huge but adequate. The site has takeaway vans on certain days. We had one of the wood-fired pizzas, which was lovely. also took advantage of the ice cream van, which was there every afternoon. For motorhome users, there is a little shop on the holiday park next door, about 5 minutes walk, where you can stock up on groceries plus wine and beer. We walked into Looe on one day. It’s about 2.5 miles down a mix of road and walking path. Be warned, the path is VERY steep. We chose not to walk back up. The little beach at Looe is not dog friendly. We walked round to Hannafore point, about 20 minutes, which is a series of rocky coves but is dog friendly. Ours loved it there. There is a regular bus service that runs from right outside the site into Looe and also onto Polperro, which is definitely worth a visit. We ate at the Crumplehorn Inn, which was very nice. Unfortunately, the bus service wasn’t very reliable and the 7pm bus didn’t turn up, leaving us waiting in the rain. Eventually got a taxi with others waiting, as they had a train connection to make and couldn’t wait for the next bus, which wasn’t until 8.30pm. I don’t normally mention the band system in the shower/toilet blocks but feel compelled to, as I don’t believe it’s working. You can be waiting outside for the toilet because only 6 are allowed in at any one time and find that all the showers were in use and all the toilets were free. People either forget to put their band back in the bucket or don’t even bother. One time, I put my band on the hook, next to 2 others. When I came out, all the bands were back in the bucket, including mine. My final gripe is, if you get the seat in the shower wet, please wipe it down for the next user. I really don’t want to have to use my towel to clean up after you!

Rules don't apply to all!!

Got here at 13.10 of our 1st day and found lots of units in front, it was obvious that people were being let in well before the 1pm rule. We ended up on a badly sloping grass pitch because we had observed the rules others who chose to ignore yet again prospered with the pick of the pitches. Rules for toilets not understood by all and mask wearing sketchy. As we went through the week I saw people turning up as early as 10.30, not turned away but allowed to wait till 12 when they were let on. I joined this club because it had rules,it seems the rules are very flexible so from now on I'm going to turn up early and get my fair choice of pitches, please respond caravan club to say what you are going to do about this problem.

Disappointed

We chose this site because it said 'access to the coast path' which is where we wanted to walk. There are no footpaths from the site to the coast path - only a road for more than a mile- very misleading. Told to move our motorhome closer to the next unit although we were further away than 6m necessary - jobs worth staff member and no electricity for one day which wasn't pointed out when we arrived. Booked for 2 nights - left after 24 hours. Not impressed at all.

Poor site

This site has far too many pitches for its size. The pitch we ended up on was totally unsuitable for caravans over 6m. Far too many vans had arrived early leaving choice limited. The slope was unsafe and impossible, even with warden help, to level successfully. Around the site this was a general issue. Vans are back to back and not a safe distance apart as they are side to side. Toilet block facilities poor and dirty showers. Members cannot clean up with current removal of mops. Rubber band system not followed and members not always wearing masks. Will not be returning unless major revamp takes place.

A week here July 2021

Site beginning to look a bit shabby hedges overgrown hard standings need more gravel or at least raking over when people leave. Toilets spotless cleaned by contractors well done. Overall it did not spoil the holiday. Just an observation.

AMAZING WARDEN TEAM

We visited Looe site for a week over half term. The whole warden team were wonderful. As we arrived (on a peak weekend) they were at the gateway directing / helping / moving people and their units onward; behind the screen in the office everything was ready for the - over 100 - arrivals. Well done everyone smiling that day and every day!! The site looked great; spotless facilities and people were managing with the Covid regulations. We did move pitch half way through, not due to the children next door playing/enjoying themselves, but because of their father constantly shouting at them with a booming voice that reached several pitches over. I imagine he had no idea of his effect on other people; such a shame. Hourly bus service from outside the site to Looe or to Plymouth. Food shopping in Looe we found quite limited. Farm shop nearby is worth a visit. We took the train from Looe into Plymouth - lovely run alongside the water and then across the Tamar via Brunel's Royal Albert Bridge - stunning. For a special treat, the Talland Bay Hotel for lunch was superb.

1st time here

What a brilliant site, everything at hand, bus stop right outside and the busses ran regular, we are away for 6 weeks and we booked 7 days here, but on looking at our booking for the following week we found it had no electric hook up so booked another 5 days here as thats all they had left and stayed on a farm for 2 days before going onto our next campsite, again we would def come back here

Please stay off my pitch

Lovely site. Stayed on pitch 172....big mistake..loads of fellow members cutting right across my pitch to short cut the route to the toilet facilities. What's happened to etiquette?
