Another Great Stay

We have stayed here many times now and have always found the site and it's facilities to be excellent! However, it's the staff who make this site so good as they are always very helpful and friendly. Hillary in particular was brilliant on arrival day this year which, being the first day of the post-lockdown summer holidays, was extremely busy to say the least! Thanks again for another great stay!

Constant noise

I came here with my family end of July 2021. We paid a premium price for a service pitch. However the constant noise from the play area and the dog field at the back of the pitches, with dogs barking from the very early hours and the kids in the play area until after 10pm. Also the foul language was not nice to hear from such young kids. The kids were treating the area like a racing track and going the wrong way round the road. Surely an accident waiting to happen. There was no enforcement from the wardens and more so no parent responsibility. The site was clean and tidy. The staff were friendly. It could be a nice site out of school holidays.

This site has changed!

Writing this review whilst currently staying on the site. We’ve stayed every July/August for 5 years and are utterly disappointed this year. It’s like the Wild West. I never seen such lack of supervision of children by parents, combined with staff that simply aren’t present around the site towards the end of the day. I’ve spent most evenings trying to discreetly keep an eye on my family but most evenings I’ve had to intervene to instances of vandalism, stone throwing, threatening behaviour and appalling language from children not even in double digits. Might as well be Pontins! On a side note, site has always been well kept, clean, tidy and COVID aside the pool is lovely. Sadly I won’t visit again and currently my daughter is asking if we can leave early to go home.

Disappointed

The pitches on this site are to close and packed in, there is no way that the 6m and 3m rules between units works , the way the site is layed out with long straight roads , it encourages people to walk between pitches to gain access to the toilet blocks. The speed limit on site is more like 20 mph . I know we getting tho the end of Covid restrictions , but the band system was not explained and was not working , also the hand sanitiser dispensers where more than often empty Although the ice cream wagon and pizza wagons were a good addition

A great stay once we found a suitable pitch

Spent a great week here, first time on this site although we already knew Looe and love everything it has to offer. Other reviews have rightly highlighted the pizza and ice cream vans, coastal walks, bus to Polperro, helpful staff. A word of caution though, in that we arrived after a couple of days of heavy rain and it was impossible to get onto and off the sloping grass pitches to use our levelling chocks without churning them up badly so our first night was spoilt by being very wonky. We followed staff advice to walk round the hardstanding pitches the following morning and see if anyone had left, which we duly did and found a perfect pitch for the rest of our stay. Great for us, and every day following we would see others doing the same, but it does mean that well before opening time, all hardstanding pitches are routinely taken up so newcomers will often/always start off on a potentially soggy, sloping pitch. It would be helpful to be able to book a hardstanding pitch so as to be sure of a level, drier stay, as you can on many other sites. It has made us nervous of returning to an otherwise great site.

Another great Holiday in Looe

Just back from another great holiday this is our 2nd stay at Looe and it did not disappoint. I would just say that removing the squeegy mop from the showers was not your finest hour as on some occasions as the weather was not good the showers were muddy from the previous user. I don’t think Boris said take the squeegy out of the showers we are mopping the floors not ourselves 🤔 I agree with other reviews about the band system total waste of time people read the message and went in anyway if all 6 were in use I know because our pitch was right opposite and I watched them I also think you should have put on your website a lot earlier that the pool was not going to be open it is not just the kids that use it. Just a couple of gripes but it was still a good holiday and we will be back again

Nice Site, Helpful Staff

We stayed here for 3 nights early July. It’s a large site, with grass pitches on one half and hardstanding on the other half. We chose a hardstanding pitch which was in a great position for us. Not too far from the service point and shower block, grass behind the van where the dog could sit and we could sit in the sun. Perfect. There is also a dog walk on site, which is not huge but adequate. The site has takeaway vans on certain days. We had one of the wood-fired pizzas, which was lovely. also took advantage of the ice cream van, which was there every afternoon. For motorhome users, there is a little shop on the holiday park next door, about 5 minutes walk, where you can stock up on groceries plus wine and beer. We walked into Looe on one day. It’s about 2.5 miles down a mix of road and walking path. Be warned, the path is VERY steep. We chose not to walk back up. The little beach at Looe is not dog friendly. We walked round to Hannafore point, about 20 minutes, which is a series of rocky coves but is dog friendly. Ours loved it there. There is a regular bus service that runs from right outside the site into Looe and also onto Polperro, which is definitely worth a visit. We ate at the Crumplehorn Inn, which was very nice. Unfortunately, the bus service wasn’t very reliable and the 7pm bus didn’t turn up, leaving us waiting in the rain. Eventually got a taxi with others waiting, as they had a train connection to make and couldn’t wait for the next bus, which wasn’t until 8.30pm. I don’t normally mention the band system in the shower/toilet blocks but feel compelled to, as I don’t believe it’s working. You can be waiting outside for the toilet because only 6 are allowed in at any one time and find that all the showers were in use and all the toilets were free. People either forget to put their band back in the bucket or don’t even bother. One time, I put my band on the hook, next to 2 others. When I came out, all the bands were back in the bucket, including mine. My final gripe is, if you get the seat in the shower wet, please wipe it down for the next user. I really don’t want to have to use my towel to clean up after you!

Rules don't apply to all!!

Got here at 13.10 of our 1st day and found lots of units in front, it was obvious that people were being let in well before the 1pm rule. We ended up on a badly sloping grass pitch because we had observed the rules others who chose to ignore yet again prospered with the pick of the pitches. Rules for toilets not understood by all and mask wearing sketchy. As we went through the week I saw people turning up as early as 10.30, not turned away but allowed to wait till 12 when they were let on. I joined this club because it had rules,it seems the rules are very flexible so from now on I'm going to turn up early and get my fair choice of pitches, please respond caravan club to say what you are going to do about this problem.
