I can’t praise the staff enough, they went out of their way to help and accommodate us ,after I made an error and booked 2 types of pitch, consecutively, after adding a few onto our booking, and although the site was very full and busy, they managed to put us on a pitch, with no need to move, after a few days.
The site is very close to Looe and Polperro, and nearby by Seaton and Downderry are worth a visit. We enjoyed the daily icecream van, there for 5hrs a day,and the pizzas are good, but only twice a week.
Adrenaline park ,nearby is excellent for kids and adults.
We have just come back from Looe with are Motorhome and stayed for a week after moving down from Dorset.
We chose a grass pitch as putting sleeping quarters up within our awning for heavily pregnant lady and partner. We chose opposite the toilet block for easy to get to for the pregnant lady.
The site was noisy due to been full and dogs in cages in awning barking majority of the night.
In the male showers someone had soiled on the floor and left it, another day someone soiled over the seat and left it.
I found a syringe on the floor in the ladies block and people left rubbish bags out of the bins and the seagulls distributed all the food all over the pitches.
I’m not sure if this is all down to the wardens but are the standards slipping with who they let on to the sites!
The wardens were most great full when I informed them of some of the things.
On the positive the crazy golf and tennis equipment were free.
Great site being so close to the coast, facilities were clean and site was tidy. The site staff were very helpful and friendly. Everything you need for a good stay.
Booking in was pleasant enough, no issues. Staff were friendly and helpful. The way the site is laid out doesn't really allow for much in the way of distance between you and those behind you, on the grass pitches anyway. It all felt a bit cramped and for larger caravans/motorhomes the pitches are going to be quite tight (front to back).
There was plenty of evidence to suggest that it is difficult, when wet, to pitch up. It was very soft when we arrived and it hadn't rained for a bit. The road outside can be pretty busy so try to get down to the hardstandings for a more peaceful break, you'll get a better view too.
The pool being shut was a disappointment, are lifeguards a legal requirement ? What happened to parents looking after their children!!
Locally we thought that Polperro was nice but very disappointed with Looe. Its a long while since we have been there and we don't remember it being so grubby. The Bodmin Moor area was well worth a visit, beautiful views.
Beachwise the nearest aren't sand, more a grit, but Seaton and Millendreath are quite safe bays with rock pools and a reasonable amount of car park space (worth getting the JUST PARK app in advance).
We can't recommend any eateries really which was a shame, not that they were bad but nothing special either.
Morrisons at Liskeard is 7 miles away thankfully.
We were very lucky with the weather which helped as this site didn't quite do it for us.
We have stayed here many times now and have always found the site and it's facilities to be excellent! However, it's the staff who make this site so good as they are always very helpful and friendly. Hillary in particular was brilliant on arrival day this year which, being the first day of the post-lockdown summer holidays, was extremely busy to say the least!
Thanks again for another great stay!
Beautiful clean site
Well managed and staff were very polite and helpful
Had the most wonderful time didn’t want to leave to come home definitely back next year for 3 weeks instead off 1 week top my list so far
I came here with my family end of July 2021. We paid a premium price for a service pitch. However the constant noise from the play area and the dog field at the back of the pitches, with dogs barking from the very early hours and the kids in the play area until after 10pm. Also the foul language was not nice to hear from such young kids. The kids were treating the area like a racing track and going the wrong way round the road. Surely an accident waiting to happen. There was no enforcement from the wardens and more so no parent responsibility.
The site was clean and tidy. The staff were friendly. It could be a nice site out of school holidays.
Writing this review whilst currently staying on the site. We’ve stayed every July/August for 5 years and are utterly disappointed this year. It’s like the Wild West. I never seen such lack of supervision of children by parents, combined with staff that simply aren’t present around the site towards the end of the day.
I’ve spent most evenings trying to discreetly keep an eye on my family but most evenings I’ve had to intervene to instances of vandalism, stone throwing, threatening behaviour and appalling language from children not even in double digits. Might as well be Pontins!
On a side note, site has always been well kept, clean, tidy and COVID aside the pool is lovely.
Sadly I won’t visit again and currently my daughter is asking if we can leave early to go home.
The pitches on this site are to close and packed in, there is no way that the 6m and 3m rules between units works , the way the site is layed out with long straight roads , it encourages people to walk between pitches to gain access to the toilet blocks. The speed limit on site is more like 20 mph .
I know we getting tho the end of Covid restrictions , but the band system was not explained and was not working , also the hand sanitiser dispensers where more than often empty
Although the ice cream wagon and pizza wagons were a good addition
Spent a great week here, first time on this site although we already knew Looe and love everything it has to offer. Other reviews have rightly highlighted the pizza and ice cream vans, coastal walks, bus to Polperro, helpful staff. A word of caution though, in that we arrived after a couple of days of heavy rain and it was impossible to get onto and off the sloping grass pitches to use our levelling chocks without churning them up badly so our first night was spoilt by being very wonky. We followed staff advice to walk round the hardstanding pitches the following morning and see if anyone had left, which we duly did and found a perfect pitch for the rest of our stay. Great for us, and every day following we would see others doing the same, but it does mean that well before opening time, all hardstanding pitches are routinely taken up so newcomers will often/always start off on a potentially soggy, sloping pitch. It would be helpful to be able to book a hardstanding pitch so as to be sure of a level, drier stay, as you can on many other sites. It has made us nervous of returning to an otherwise great site.
