Peaceful

Looe campsite is just outside the town - but there is a regular bus - the bus stop is just outside the entrance. There is a distant sea view with a walk to the beach The facilities are good and very clean and the pitches are well spaced and level

Very Nice Location

My wife, myself and our dog have recently returned from 10 nights at this site. We had booked a serviced pitch and were extremely fortunate to check in when we did, as there were only three pitches to choose from, 2 of which had the play area immediately in front of them (surrounded by a high mesh fence only a road width away). Our pitch was very nice and well maintained. The site is on a slope so consideration may need to be given when choosing a pitch. The site and toilet blocks were clean, tidy and well kept by the very friendly wardens. My only gripe isn't about the wardens but about some of the people who use the site, On several occasions I found the toilet pans had been left soiled by the previous user. It's not difficult to use the provided brush to leave the facilities clean. This seems to be an increasing problem on all the sites we've visited. I feel sorry for the wardens having to continually sort this out. The site is well situated for visiting many parts of Cornwall. The site is on a bus route but the bus stop, for going out and returning, is a short walk down the road at the Looe Bay site. We visited in mid September and still found it best to get to the stop 20 minutes early so as to be at or near the front of the queue. This is because the bus picks up at another site first, and did at times get quite full. All in all we had a great visit.

Brilliant child friendly site

Stayed here for 3 nights with our grandson aged 5 who had never camped before. It is an outstanding site for children with a brilliant playground and outdoor heated swimming pool. Both are very clean and tidy so perfect for wearing a 5 year old out! The crazy golf had some issues so we didn’t use that. The paths are tarmac so it was excellent for bike riding. The facilities are very clean and privacy doors on the showers and wash basins are a boon. The staff are just lovely. You can’t call it peaceful in school holidays but we absolutely loved the site with family x. Highly recommended.

Lovely but some issues

We love the town of Looe so booked here as buses should stop at the site entrance( we have a motorhome) we never managed to get a bus ! They don't stop and , put out of service as they go past! Confirmed by a warden that this happens all the time. They fill up at the camp site next door. So it was taxis for our trips. Also, we couldn't be moved to another pitch as we hadn't realised the incline on site and i had recently had a hip replacement . We had booked hardsranding but asked if we could have a grass pitch nearer the top as a lot were empty told no they were not available.. but they were not occupied for the whole of our stay! Also walked up to the pool after my husband checked to see if it was open..got to the pool to be told they were too busy to open it. Such a shame so many negatives. The staff seemed very stressed . Thankfully our next 2 sites were brilliant.

Lovely site with a pool

I come to the Looe club site several times a year as it is where my husband and I used to stay from the time we first had a Motorhome. It is a beautifully laid out site with excellent, well kept facilities and a swimming pool which is open in the summer months. The people who look after the site are extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. I feel comfortable staying at the Looe site now that I travel on my own in a campervan. In the summer I like the grass pitches, they are clearly marked and have plenty of space between each one; they are not in use during the early and late seasons so I go for a hard standing then, again beautifully maintained and well laid out. The location is great, nice and quiet with amazing views, I’ll be visiting again a few times before the end of the season.

Grass with awning and grass without awning pitches are priced exactly the same on this site, or are they?!?!?

Booked a grass pitch without awning 7 months in advance. We had also requested to be near the amenities as one of our party has mobility issues. 7 of the 217 pitches are grass without awning. 2 of these are relatively close to the amenities, so we pitched-up on one of these. When booking-in the wardens did suggest we could have a hardstanding with awning pitch which would cost extra. We are really unclear why we could not have a grass with awning pitch at no extra cost. Grass with awning and grass without awning pitches are priced exactly the same on this site. There were at least 40 grass with awning pitches available during our stay – many of them next to the amenities, and nearer than the one we were on. After we had set up, we did speak to the wardens about moving to a grass pitch with an awning, but they insisted there was an extra cost. The pitch we were on was next to the exit barrier - constant revving engine noise as people moved away and then clanging of the barrier as it closed. Nearly 24 hours after our arrival, one of the blue marker posts on our pitch was moved by a warden, making it look like our motorhome was positioned incorrectly. All the wardens on this site need educating regarding pricing. For some reason all the wardens incorrectly think that a grass pitch with awning is more expensive than a grass pitch without awning. We will not be rushing back!

Great site, friendly staff, clean facilities but woeful WiFi

As always when arriving at club sits, we received a warm and friendly welcome despite there being quite a queue to check in. Facilites were clean (again as always) and the grounds immaculately well kept. The only thing spoiling our stay was the woeful "free" WiFi. My iphone could log in but the system would not let my ipad log in. I have never had any problems with "free" WiFi in any non - club site. Why is bandwidth limited to 1mb/s? Why does one have to log in every hour or so? I would upgrade to paid-for WiFi but am unwilling to take the risk - it could be just as bad!

Well done Looe staff

Looe site is well placed to visit Looe and Polperro. The staff do a really good job of maintaining the site and the pool which is a great feature.

Lovely Looe

We spent 3 nights here staying on a hard standing in the lower half of the site which was attractive and quiet. The site is large and has an open-air pool which had just opened but we didn’t use. We enjoyed watching the many rabbits on the site. On both days we walked into Looe but by different routes. Next time I would like to walk to Polperro along the coastal path. There seem to be regular bus services into Looe for those that don’t want to walk and to Polperro, Polruan (opposite Fowey), Liskeard and Plymouth which we may use in the future.
